I'm a member of TOPS (Taking Off Pounds Sensibly) and I find it very helpful to meet others that are trying to accomplish similar goals. They have a magazine that comes out nine times a year. The latest issue has some rather good articles. I would like to share some of the information from one of the articles.

The article is from the Dec. 2011/Jan 2012 issue, written by Michelle May, M.D. and it is a list of Tips for holiday eating without weight gain.

Here are the first two tips:
1) Be a food snob. Skip the store bought stuff, the stuff that's been sitting around getting stale, and the food that doesn't taste as awesome as you hoped. Just because you took one taste, doesn't mean it deserves a second, or third taste if the 'treat' isn't up to snuff. Eat only what's absolutely fabulous.

2) Think of your appetite as an expense account. How much do you want to spend on appetizers or the entrée? Do you want to save room for dessert? Going through this thinking will help you avoid overeating and you won't go into a food coma.

More tomorrow, until then what are your strategies for eating right during the holiday season?
