Good morning, Cath. Good for you for exercising. I got out and walked my 1 mile route last evening. It is just beautiful this time of year. However, the scale today says I've gained 1/2 a pound - oh well - keeping my eye on the overall picture is a goal for today.

Last evening I used the 'Healthy Lifetime Scale' and came up healthy for the first time. I'll focus on helping that happen again today.

Good Morning.. glad my post helped some & thank you for giving me a thumbs up for realizing I am accountable for my choices.. but also, I am even prouder to say I'VE EXERCISED!!

Last night at our TOPS meeting.. I stayed the same, we call that "a TURTLE"... so, it's good I didn't gain... stinks I didn't lose.. but we tend to think TURTLES are just as good as a loss.. a successful week without adding back the pounds!!

I'm planning to go do my elliptical shortly.. I've been a bit under the weather.. sinus stuff & I didn't do anything yesterday, or MONDAY!.. so, I've gotta get on the ball!

Hope you all are having a GREAT week! Can't wait to see some more uplifting thoughts from you all!

Have a BLESSED day!

Hey, Snipie emoticon
Adding breakfast is a GREAT habit - I've just read an article in the past couple of days about all the benefits of eating breakfast.

I'd almost always eat breakfast, but often at noontime. I made my personal challenge that I have to be sitting down eating breakfast within two hours of getting out of bed. That's healped me a lot.

When does your husband get home? Does he travel a lot?

Hi, I have been on SP since April 4th. I am a slow starter when it comes to blogs and messages. I have been reading you entries and wanted to join. I like the idea of general chat room...talk about everything.

I was excited to weigh in and lose 3 pounds since I started exercising and quit smoking on March 1st. I did cut back on food but went to doctors and he told me I was cheating myself and to check out this website.

So here I am craving mountain dew and candy kisses and not smoking.

This is a good place to be and you people are wonderful to encourage each other and me. I hope we can encourage each other from now on.

Thanks everyone. emoticon

Hi

I have a blue Monday, not eating and exercise, but I felt a bit lonely today. Hubby is still not home..

But it is good to read all your happiness and victory's. It chase the blues away...

I did not bad this weekend, and I'm busy with a BIG challenge - to eat every day this week BREAKFAST.

Well so far so good and I even do an extra cardio workout.

So thanks all for lifting my spirits...

Dale~ Glad to hear you had a good time. How nice that you can start the week off so refreshed!

Cathleen ~ Count it as a victory that you KNEW and RECOGNIZED that you maybe didn't make good choices in eating, and that you DID CHOOSE to exercise!

Have a great Monday!

Cathleen, I really like your idea of a new week and new chances to 'erase' our mistakes. I'm going to add some exercise this week.

And our weather is supposed to be warmer and less stormy.

Stay safe to all of you along the East Coast in this big wind and rain storm.

Well, sounds like everyone had busy weekend.. Elaine.. glad to hear that all is okay there!
There was some rough weather around here.. but not locally, just thunderstorms.. I couldn't imagine living where there were always lots of tornado's!

Tomorrow begins a new week.. and a new chance to erase any mistakes we've made over the weekend! Lord knows I've eaten badly.. but, I did exercise... that's a good thing..

Hugs to all.. have a great, productive week!

The weekend away was wonderful!!! I highly recommend it to anyone and everyone. For the first time in a very long time, I actually enjoyed shopping because I didn't have to rush, didn't feel like I had a bunch of impatient kids and a husband waiting for me. I actually took my time and tried on tons of clothes. we had a blast and the women's expo was very informative...lots of people seem to think that women are easy targets for miracle pills and cosmetic surgery. One booth was trying to sell a $200 remedy for weight...lose 70 pounds in 4 months, that sounds healthy...a clinic that performs breast augmentation was trying to get women to sign up for free assessments. It was nuts, but I did get a manicure and hand massage, now that was great. We have decided, this must become at least a yearly pilgrimage. emoticon

Another weather story ... emoticon emoticon
We've had a day long tornado watch and tornado warning this afternoon here in Alabama - so I spent an hour and a half on the floor in a central hallway on our ground floor surrouded by pillows and comforters while watching the weather fellows on TV 'playing' with all their new Doppler toys. But warnings do save lives. We're about 2 hours from Enterprise, the community where 8 teenagers were killed in their high school last month.

All the rain is greatfor the earth - we've been close to a drought.

Wishes for a sunny tomorrow to all emoticon

Happy Anniversary Carrie.Mom! Tomorrow is my one week anniversary as well, and I had chosen that to be my weigh in day, but since I will be away, decided to weigh in today...arrgh...didn't budge on the scale, I was hoping, but then, I did lose about half an inch on my waist, that is good news!
going to the women's expo in the city, hope to gain some insights there on weight loss and aging gracefully. Have a great weekend everyone.

Good morning everyone! The snow we sere supposed to gt came as rain, thank goodness, but boy, is it raining hard...love the sound of it, but of course I have to drive to work in this, darn.
Woke up with a stiff back, not sure why,(did some modified pushups yesterday?) but I think a few stretches and some walking later and it should loosen up.

Hope you all have a successful day! emoticon

I hear you about the snow. I think I would have made a good bear - I feel like hibernating when the cold weather comes. We had more snow in here in the Midwest too. Forecast for tomorrow says 50degrees. Maybe some of it will melt.

welcome, Andrews mommy!

I've done great so far today and have gotten just enough calories. The trouble is I've got 4 hrs before bed and I'm already hungry. I've also just had an experience that stressed me out beyond beleif and I want to make an eat an entire apple pie now. mmmmmmmmm

My hubby should behome in a matter of minutes though so hopefully that will help me relax some.

It's been such a LOOOOONG day. There was barely a moment that someone wasn't screaming or bickering emoticon and it's so butt-cold out that we were just inside all day.

Hey everyone this is my first post other then my intro so I figured I would just jump right in lol. I was supposed to do so much today but I did nothing that I wanted to except for go to the store lol. I woke up this morning and there was a ton of snow EVERYWHERE it really sucks I just couldn't believe it. Yesterday I took my son out to the bus stop for school and it was all nice and warm and now there is like a foot of snow on the ground. I really hate Michigan weather.

I really find the SparkRecipe link to be helpful. Tonite, I am preparing a favorite dish for dinner and while it's in the oven I came on SP to calculate the calories, etc. After putting all the recipe ingredients in, I decided to call it '8 servings'. Wow. I've eaten this dish many times and between my husband and myself we can devour 1/2 of the total dish in one sitting. The calories if divided by 8 are almost 300 with 15g fat. That means 600 cal and 30g fat is what I would've eaten in the past,(+ nibbles) It's so helpful to really know the proper serving size. Yes, more time, but so worth it.

I was all over the place today. I had planned a well balanced lunch, ended up at a meeting and no lunch until 3pm. On top of that, one of the visitors to our meeting wanted lunch and I was the only one free to go with her so we go to a cafe. I did manage to get tuna but most stuff on the menu is not healthy food. so I think, well, I'll have a healthy supper. Not! hubby cooked and when I got home from work he had fish sticks and french fries. At least he did some veggies, but who am I to criticize, he means well and thinks he's helping me out by having supper done when I get home. So I figure,I'll walk tonight. Not to be, plans for the weekend had to be made as I am going away with two girlfriends and they wanted to plan departure and accommodations.
Not a good day... emoticon

Hi everyone

I just read all your reply's.

I just found this team, bit late, but here I am.

I'm Snipie from South Africa. I found SP 4-04-07, and start last Friday with exercising and calorie tracker. Tomorow is my first week over...

I think I've done well, I stick to my exercise plan and that is something I never could do.

Eating, well next week I will focus more on that, just proud I've done my exercise.

You've got me laugth about the snacks in the cabins. I really enjoy that.

And the snow, our winter is coming now, but it is still nice warm through the days. It almost never snow here, my children never seen snow.

It's nice to meet you all, please think of me, I weigh in tomorow.

Snipie

Hi CAathleen! You will do it, it just takes time, patience and obsissive attention to detail.

I've been here a week on sunday and it's taken all my braincells to finally figure it out for food.

1. Plan Ahead!
2. Track it!
3. we aren't robots and it isn't "bad" or a reason to quit when you have a day or two that isn't spot on.
4.Dogs don't need parties (LOL) why is it the PEOPLE eat the cake at a dog party?? We have several a year and the dog spends the party on the floor!

Thank you!!!!
I did weigh in.. gained 1 lb.. but I was okay with that.. because as I said.. I am hoping it was muscle (as it weighs more than fat)..

didn't do well yesterday.. did do a lot of walking around at science discovery thing we went to.. ate pizza and cake last night.. as we had to have a birthday party for our DOG!!.. per my 6 yr old daughter..

Even thought I can get moving with the exercise.. it seems as though I just cannot get my finger around the way to LIMIT my FOOD INTAKE.. mainly, the type of food..

I know I have done it before.. but, I've gotta get my head back to that place & get started again with it.. I know what I eat, I shouldn't eat.. but I eat it anyways!! And, feel guilty afterwards, always!!

But, a new day.. brings new challenges.. and I'm ready to conquer them!!!

Hugs to you all!

Cathleen

It's the reason I do.

Like i said, sometimes I'll use them. Large eggs have 5 grams of fat with the yolk.

Is the fat the reason you discard the yolk?

I do buy carton egg whites when I can find them. If I can't, I just crack open the egg and seperate. If I'm making eggs for someone else, then I'll put the yokes with theirs so they aren't 'wasted'. If not, I will just throw away.

I've had egg beaters before and they are ok but I like the real egg taste that egg whites have. I've also done a combo of 2 egg whites with one egg. It just depends on I feel that day. LOL!
