Great advice! I feel very electronically forward... I use my fitbit to track my miles and steps and calories on a daily basis, I use C25K to tell me what to do, and I've used runkeeper to track my speed and distance when I'm on a course. (I have this fantasy that I'm going to time myself once a month to see if my speed increases. So far I haven't done it, although at least now I have a baseline. Then I'm also listening to music or a book to keep me mostly distracted. Usually I'm just running/walking up and down my driveway.

Yes! Running faster and slower, sometimes my run is a snail's pace, and it is still burning more calories than a walk.

I've been tracking using both the SparkPeople tracker and Run Keeper (the free version). I like that Run Keeper tells you how far you've run since you started your running program. That gives me a sense of accomplishment (and reminds me of an old Henny Youngman joke....).

Hi,

1. I find the feeling afterwards most helpful to get me going the next time. Nothing gear specific.

2. I'm using the C25K app from Active which I paid for (like $1 or $2). I think there are others that are almost the same and free. I like it cause it tracks everything for me using GPS, but it will only do it for the duration of the program. So sometimes I walk for another 20 or 30 minutes after my run but it doesn't track that. The voice prompts are very basic and not motivational, but I can listen to my own music behind it. I tried a different C25K program in the past that was fantastic. It wasn't an app though. It was a podcast. So it was really fantastic voice prompts and music as an MP3 file. It was put together by the NHS in England. Here's the link for it:

The podcasts are at the top and it looks like there is an app now as well. Maybe someone could give it a try and let us know.

Have fun! www.nhs.uk/Livewell/c25k/Pages/couch

I love the free C25 app on my phone and I can play my playlist in the background. The biggest tips? Good shoes and when you're out of breath and hurting....don't stop but SLOW down...even if your pace is sower than your walk, you're still moving.

Please Share how you are going about your workouts for those just beginning this process.

1. What do you find is most helpful ?

2. How are you keeping track of your workout, are you using the phone App & if so which one ?

For those of us 'still' yet on the couch emoticon emoticon
