Well done for making it through! If you have issues with a weak leg I would suggest yoga and/or strength training on your rest days to help ease pain and strengthen the weakness.
Good luck with the rest of C25K : )

I use my stationary bike on my off days, which really helps to keep my leg muscles working. If you have Netflix, there are a *bunch* of exercise videos on it that you could try! Also, a friend turned me on to the website doyogawithme.com, which has lots of level-appropriate yoga workouts if you're so inclined. And be sure to s-t-r-e-t-c-h! :)

What is working for me is this:
I do some light strength training, like squats, lunges etc. and my YOGA VIDEO.
Seriously, I know the strengthening is good, keeps the legs strong, but I would have given up already if I hadn't thought to do my yoga video on off days.

The stretching feels soo friggin good and my calves are getting better ever day. The first few days they were so tight, I thought I would snap them going up stairs! My hips don't hurt and my back really needs the decompression that the yoga gives.
I don't do a strenuous practice either, just like a half hour. Nothing crazy or advanced.
My favorite video right now is Rodney Yee's yoga for back care.
It is super beginner friendly and focuses on the areas I seem to need it most, my back and hips and some legs. I just add in basic leg stretches afterwords.

I tried to do c25k 2 years ago with nothing on my rest days. I failed. 20lbs more later, and I am much more successful this time. Thanks to some squats and stretching, lol!

I asked this question years ago and I got a LOT of different answers. I would do strength training with dumbells., or put in an exercise video. My mistake was not doing anything on the "off days". It really stalls the end result. emoticon
Congratulations!

I'm 5'7" and about 325 lbs... and just started C25K yesterday. I have one leg with screaming muscles (the leg that's currently weaker due to history of a broken ankle - thankfully the ankle feels great), but I finished the entire workout without walking through any of the jogging parts. Yay me!

So what should I be doing during off-days to keep me motivated to continue, other than joining this group? Any workouts, or treat the off-days as days of total rest?
