Hi, I'm new. I'm looking for support since I recently started C25k. I was a sprinter in high school and didn't really like running then, but nearly 30 years later, I'm loving the joy of a good morning stretch. I'm @W4D2 and would appreciate advice, encouragement, and tips from any and all ahead of me.
looking forward to getting to know y'all,
Chelle

Grace and peace,

I finished the couch to 5k program in early summer, but since most of my running was on the treadmill I am going to start again. I will start on Monday and sign up for a 5K sometime in November. I'm really ready to do it.

My real race is next weekend and I was getting stressed just thinking about it-not to mention the issues I was having with my Nike+. Today I finished a practice 3.1 even though it was W5D3, I knew I needed to see how long 3.1 really was, if I could finish, and if I could finish before 1 hour-I'm a SLOW runner! Well, I finished in 48 minutes, jogging 38 of those! WOW! Next week will be the real test-with hills and 1,000 people!

Well, today marks the end of week 7 for me and guess what-- I did my first 5k today! No official time was given, so unofficially, I finished in ~33:30. WOW! I had to walk quite a bit, but I think I was running way too fast for the most part. I feel fantastic! The best part was, that I got to do my first one with my sister and my baby brother (who finished right at 30:00)! We are already talking about doing our next 5k together next month!

I did it! I have finished the program! W9D3 done...actually I did a 32 minute jog at 5.2 mph. Now I am going to back up and start back on Week 5 or 6 and do them outside and map my route to figure out how far I can go! Now that I have proved to myself that it is possible for me to do this program with the speed control of the treadmill I'm ready to take on the great outdoors!

I am feeling the best right now I have felt in a long time!!! I have been wanting to start the C25K Program for like a month and a half now, and I have put it off because I was fearful of how hard it was going to be, and I couldn't deal with that fear. Anyway, yesterday I downloaded the podcast for the first week, and I started today. I did the whole thing and I LOVED it. I mean really. I felt like I could have gone even longer by the time I got to the end of it! I can't believe I waited all this time to start and it wasn't anywhere NEAR as horrible as I thought it was going to be. ( I should mention that my last attempt at exercise was to start the Jillian Michael's 30 Day Shred and it almost killed me -physically, spiritually, and emotionally lol- so the fact that I can actually bring myself to do some other kind of exercise is huge. Anyway, I just wanted to share. I have been feeling SOOOO down on myself. I have been not using SparkPeople at all, I haven't been cultivating the relationships that I started with people on this forum. But I am going to pick up the pieces now and start over. I can do that right? Anyway, I just wanted to share because I seriously am in disbelief that it was me and my body that just ran for 8 minutes total! AHHHHHHH!! emoticon emoticon emoticon

I finished the Couch to 5K Program a few months ago, but I was looking through all of my SparkTeams and saw this one. I figured I'd say a big thanks to this group! It made a huge difference for me. I am addicted to running, and this team was one of the main motivators for me to keep up with it. There were times when I wanted to just give up, but I always came back to the Couch to 5K group and get motivated all over again. Thanks guys!

Did my first post C25K run today. I upped it to 33 minutes, and covered between 2.6-2.7 miles. Plan is to run that same course again, maybe 3 times, then increase to 36 minutes. 2-3 tuns of that, then up to 39 minutes. THEN work on just running 3.1 miles consistently and see where the time ends up.

I completed the Couch to 5k program last night.

I am not someone that typically finishes something. I pushed through and completed my Week 9 Day 3 run.

There are rough days and there are easy days, but thats what makes us runners. Pushing through the hard days, and reveling in the feeling of the easy days!

Thanks so much to everyone in this group for the support. You guys pushed me through when I didn't want to keep going.

Good luck to everyone where ever you are in the program. You can do it! It may not be pretty and you may not be fast but at the end of that day simply getting out there and pushing yourself further is amazing!

You go, girl!

Life is like the wind--you've either struggling against a headwind or sailing with ease in a tailwind. Sometimes it pays simply to change your direction.
