I completed W1D1 last night! Yesterday I posted a blog about how I have never run. I would say that I was a little scared at first, but it got easier with every run session. I love it!

I did it! W6D3! A 25-minute run without walking! Honestly, it helped me so much to know that this group is here. When I started to slow down at minute 14, I thought about how great it would be to be able to post in this thread when I was done. And it kept me going! emoticon

I COMPLETED THE COUCH TO 5K PROGRAM THIS MORNING!!!!
emoticon emoticon emoticon emoticon emoticon

I honestly can't believe I DID IT!!! I set out to do it as part of my 90 day challenge, and honestly didn't think I was going to complete it. I put no pressure on myself, it was just one of those: Let's see how far you CAN make it type things. And I freaking made it ALL THE WAY!!!!!!

So the next plan is to run 33 minutes for 3 runs, then 36 minutes. Once I do that, I am going to work on increasing my speed.

First 5K is scheduled for September 4....just a month away!

For a week I've been so afraid of moving on to the week 4, 5 minutes runs. Today I did it! It was awesome.
This weekend I had a little revelation. For my C25K runs, I use a treadmill, but this weekend, just to get a work-out in, I ran a little outside. I started out and almost immediately felt I wasn't going to be able to go far. I told myself to slow down, pace myself, and because of that I was able to run farther than I had expected.
So, today when I approached my run, I kept that in mind. Don't try to go fast and burn out to quickly. I slowed down a bit and it worked. It was a great run, and I'm so pumped now.

I've been putting off trying this program because I was afraid of failure. But, today I did the W1D1. It wasn't perfect, but I know it will be easier the day after tomorrow. I can do this!

I can hardly believe it, but I'm on week 7! Somewhere down below (about 2 months back) is my post about week 1. 25 minute runs all this week, but I knew I could do it since I finished week 6.

I'm running close to a 10 minute mile, but really want to get that time down so that I can finish my first 5K (3.11 miles) in 30 minutes or less.

Something else I never thought I would say: I'm already looking forward to the 10K training!

I did W5D3 today! Not only did I do the whole 20 minute jog, but also did an extra 6 for a total of 26 consecutive minutes (I wanted to hit 2 miles)! I even "sprinted" the last minute! Words cannot express how proud of myself I am. I've never ran more than a couple of minutes at a time before, even when I was fit. I feel invincible! lol I now know that I totally have the power to finish the program, and also run my first 5k coming up in 2 weeks.

As far as I'm concerned, I officially became a runner today.

I just started W1D1 on Tuesday. I only made it past the first 60 sec jog, today I started it over expecting the same result. After the 2nd jog I realized I was still going! Yeah! I CAN do this!

I ran on asphalt for the first time last night. It was the slowest I've ever run, but it was also the first time I did any grade. And I did 3 miles!!

I ran the whole 3.1 miles this morning. Will continue for the rest of the week then moving on to training for a 10K. I never thought I was gonna be able to run again after finding out last December I torn the tendons in my left foot while training for a half marathon. But I am back - slower but stronger in every way.

In the version I've seen, Week 9 is three 3 mile / 30 minute workouts, so you're essentially at goal at the end of week 8.

Did W9D2 at about a 12 minute mile, my 5K is coming up the end of September so I am hoping that I can work on getting my time down while still maintaining the ability to run/jog for 30 minutes total. I still can hardly believe that I am able to go for 30 minutes...I know it seems corny to say this but I feel that if I can do it anyone can! emoticon

I finished Week 5 yesterday! I told myself at the beginning of the week that I was going to nail every run this week and that mindset helped a lot. I did it! The best part was completing the 2 mile run yesterday nonstop AFTER I finished a 12 mile bike ride. Yippeeeee!

I had started the program in December, but had to stop because my two teen boys were hospitalized after a wreck. I always meant to go back and continue, but I didn't. I continued working out, though, and taking care of myself.

My husband and I went to Florida the last week of June. We ate at a little local restaurant, where they had a sign for a 5k that they hosted, being held our last night in town.

Even though I hadn't been running, I decided to participate. On my vacation, I walked/ran a 5k on the beach! Running on the beach is very difficult, I found out. I walked the first mile with a group of locals who knew where we were running to, then tried to run the rest. I had never run on the beach before. My heart rate got up to 186, so I had to walk! It took me about 45 minutes to complete, but I did run what I could!

Since I have been home, I have resumed run/walk intervals on my road and I am loving it! I try to get outside before 8am so it isn't so hot!

I have always struggled with running. I have found that I enjoy running stairs (I ran the stairs at our hotel) more than flat land or the hills of my road) so I run the stadium stairs at the high school when my kids have soccer practice there.

I guess now, I am a runner. I am not fast and I cannot run for long distances without walking in between, but I am getting there!

I completed W1D1 today. Last time I tried week 1 I ended up hurting myself and taking weeks off. I realized I was going too fast. I was trying to full out run when I should have been *training* to run.

So.....today I took it to a slow easy jog and it was so much better!! My breathing was under control and I finished. YIPEE! I am really excited to see this program through and be a runner. emoticon

I finished week 4 today! And I even ended the last 5 minute run with a run UP a hill!

I finished the Couch to 5K program!! I'll admit that the last few weeks I got a little off track but I ran 3 miles yesterday!

Couldn't be happier. I've been thinking about my exercise level 1 month ago and 1 year ago and I can hardly believe that I'm at the point where I can run 3 miles....thanks for all the support and good luck everyone!

After having tornado watches this morning, and possibly more rain tonight, I got the first day of C25K done! I am little wary of the music and thought it maybe Week 1 would not be challenging enough. I am happy to report that the music wasn't bad - it went fairly fast - and boy did it challenge me! I can't wait for my next run, on Friday! emoticon

W4D1 - bit of a stretch on the breathing, but felt so great when I finished!
