Thanks for your post MICKIDEE44. I just finished W2D3 tonight and wasn't 'feeling' it. I was starting to doubt myself as to whether or not I'm ready for W3. I haven't had any mental issues until tonight... I need to forget about it and just move on and quit the self doubt! Week3, here I come!!!!

Did W1D1 last night. Stretched before and after. Ended up walking 2 of the minute-long runs. History of knee and back issues, but stretching must have done the trick--no stiffness or soreness today. Tomorrow I will run all 9 runs. I'm proud of myself for taking the first steps to become a runner!

Just do the work! Results will come.

I finally finished Week 5 Day 3. I was so scared initially, already put in my mind that it was not going to work for me. Well, the 1st time I only did 10 min and was telling myself that I knew I wasn't going to be able to do it. Why do we do this to ourselves? Especially when we have overcome some other things. It's not impossible. Well, I said that I was going to run an extra minute everyday until I could get up to the 20 min. Then, a few days had gone by and I had been walking about an hour, then said to myself, "try it NOW". "Okay" (I said to myself) LOL! And guess what? I DID IT! I was so excited, so now I know I can do the rest of the program, no more doubting. Maybe something may hinder me at a certain point in time for good reason, but NOW I know that I CAN DO IT, AND I DID IT!

I can't believe I'm doing this. I finished my first week, actually did it 4 days last week and I'm ready to move on the week 2. I think what I'm most excited about is the fact that I'm excited to go out and run. I usually waste the majority of my day dreading my workout.

Unfortunately its raining so I don't know what to do today.

I WANT TO RUN!!!!!

Wow, Beanpod, that's great time! I just completed week 3 and can't wait to begin week 4!

I've been dropping my daughter off at work at the Flint Institute of Music and walking and jogging in the college/cultural area. It's really cool to find different routes and map out the miles with the odometer on my car and walk/jog. The homes are beautiful in the area, some are million dollar mansions with beautiful landscaping. It's a nice escape while getting those endorphins moving!

I did it, too! Just finished Couch to 5K today and feel so accomplished! I have really struggled with establishing fitness routines and have worked hard to overcome my mental obstacles. I have to admit, I used Jillian Michaels as an inspiration. Every time I thought maybe I couldn't make it for the full 2 miles, 2.5 miles, 2.75 miles, etc., I just imagined her saying, "It's not your body that will make you quit, it's your mind that will. Keep going!" :) It really helped. Yay!!!

Well, I was gone from SP for a while due to a busy college schedule. Still tried my best at getting fit, and now that I have a bit more time on my hands, I came back to the site. I have almost reached my first goal of 200 lbs. Woohoo!

As far as C25K, I started up a few weeks ago. I spent the first week as a sort of warm up week to get my body used to the routine again. Then last week I finished week 1, and today I have finished week 2. Awesome! Now on to week 3D1 on Monday... Judging by how I felt today, the third week may take a bit longer, but I feel great and am enjoying the program...

Take a look at my blog - www.believingastronomer.com

I completed W2D2 without stopping for a break! This is big for me as I've never gotten this far in the program before. (I've started on more like Week 0.5 the last couple of times I've tried, so running W2D2 90 seconds then walking 60 seconds to 25 minutes WITHOUT A BREAK is..I don't think I believe it yet!)

(I'm realizing my C25k looks a little different..it's only got 8 weeks)

Wow! It's great to see the enthusiasm of the folks in the early stages of the program. It's very motivating!

Friday 7/2 is W9D3 for me. So, "I (almost) did it!"
What an empowering trek it has been.

On Week 5, Day 3, your goal is to run 20 minutes nonstop. I did it! 2 miles, 20 minutes, 10 min/mile, incline on "1".

I had not run 20 minutes continuously since at least 2000, and probably 1999. Those days I ran 3-4 times a week and weighed 177 lbs. Sherman, set the Wayback Machine for the year 2000 and a fitter me!

Time to set new goals. I'm pretty happy with where I am with cardio. I don't feel the need to get faster, although I'm toying with running longer. I'll probably keep 3 miles in 30 minutes 3 times a week. Perhaps make one run longer (6 in 60?) or harder (variable incline?). Hmm...

I'd really like to put more effort into weights, just to sculpt my body and feel more in balance.

I'm not trying to be faster than you. I'm trying to be better than me.

I'm done with week 5! The 20 minute run felt great & I'm so proud of myself!

You guys all inspire me, I'm glad I joined this team!
I did W1D2 today, but added an extra minute of running at the end. It just seems like too little, I'm used to walking like 40 to 45 minutes...

Question: is the Week 1 5 minute warmup part of the total 20 minutes or is in on top of the 20 minutes?

I just finished my first week. I'm going to repeat W1 next week. My son and his girlfriend asked me to join them in running the Susan G Komen 5K in Sept, so I decided to get in shape and do it. Since the race isn't until Sept, I'll be able to repeat some of the weeks. I've been pretty bad about exercising the last few months and I haven't run in a long time, so I want to take it slow. It's been hard, but I give myself a pep talk and keep going. I'm so glad they asked me to do the race. I was in a big slump and this gave me the incentive to get back in the game. Now I will be looking to all of you for inspiration!

ALOFA0509 You've so got this! Just know that I'm at 312# and I just finished W7D2. So don't doubt yourself during this process. We can so do it. It might be slow but as long as your feet are still moving you're doing it!

W1D1---- I did it and it wasn't even that bad. I actually forgot and went an extra 5 minutes! I'm sure I won't forget next time :)
I saw a muscle in my calf that I've never seen before. lol. Hope to keep toning so I can have the kind of legs that people envy. Yay! emoticon

Finished W1D3!!! what a difference, from day 1. OMG, I wasn't going into cardiac arrest and I even added 30 sec to my last interval.. lol- @ 312lbs it is possible!! I focused on my form, and breathing the whole time.. I was shocked after each interval becuz I was not tired, or huffing and puffing like in Day 1.. I pushed out all negative thoughts!!! I didnt once think,, Ohh I'm sore, I need to stop, I cant do this I'm too fat... I kept those thoughts out, and just focused... God give me strength, becuz I'm a lil nervous for Week 2 .... Thnx everyone for your support, This Group ROCKS!

i am a very slow runner too. I want to work on my endurance before speed and distance. Way to go! I am still on W3 and just trying to build that endurance! Good job on week 7

I finished W7D1 and increased my speed some too. I am now doing under a 17 min mile (I'm very slow when I run emoticon ) but it's faster than normal so I was excited!
