I jogged around the track 6 times yesterday. That was a huge goal for me. I am working on my first mile. I still cant believe I managed to jog it without having a heart attack. LOL

New Year Goals for 2009

1. To learn Yoga (beginner and intermediate).
2. To eat less but NOT diet.
3. To live more simply.
4. Save money.
5. Exercise no less then 3 times a week.
6. To lose 50 pounds this year.

Congrats to all of you who just finished 5Ks! I can't wait to join you! I'm going to sign up to train with a group from work for Miles that Matter. The instructor is a former Olympic finalist and many-time marathoner. She works with all kinds of runners---even those like me who have a LONG way to go! I'm excited!!! emoticon

I started week 5 today. At first I hit the podcast for week 8 and thought "OH MY God" this cannot be right. Thank goodness it wasn't. I made through the runs but did have to walk for 10 secs on the second 5min run. It was very hot today 80 degrees and 85% humidity at 6:00AM. emoticon it is supposed to cool down the rest of the week.

I finished my 2nd (running/joggisng) 5k this weekend. It was a lot of hills, and I didnt think I was going to be able to run the whole thing, but I did! My time was 36.11, and I was trying to beat my previous time of 42.57.
You are all doing a fantastic job....keep running!!

I DID IT! This week I ran my first 5K race. (35 min). The last 1K was all uphill, I wanted to give up, but then I saw dh standing at the top (he finished 10 minutes earlier) and he jogged with me to the end. I only ended up walking at the hills, I'm so proud of myself, I'm alreading contemptlating my next race.. maybe this fall. Thanks to everyone with their race advice.. It was very helpfu.

I did it, the second day of week 4 - stopped once to tie my shoe and walked briskly for 15 secs during the second 5 min. run. Getting better, need to work on stamina. I am using the Ullrey podcasts which I really like but when he tells me I am halfway thru a run I think my motivation slips. emoticon

I did it! I finished W5D3 without stopping in the middle! I was so nervous before I went out...but I did it!!!!!!!

A Few Rules of Running from Mark Remy:

1. You rarely regret the runs you do; you almost always regret the runs you skip.

2. Not everyone who looks fast really is, and not everyone who looks slow really is.

3. Running any given route in the rain makes you feel 50 percent more hard-core than covering the same route on a sunny day.

4. If you care even a little about being called a jogger versus a runner, you're a runner.

I completed my W2D2 run today....and I made it without feeling like I was going to die! LOL

I have been doing a 4-week run a mile program before I get to the full C25K. Today was the day I ran an entire mile - no stopping. WooHoo. It felt awesome. I am glad I waited and did some background work first. It worked for me at any rate.

Congrats and don't leave. All us newbies need you guys running out front to pull us along! Did w3d1 today and am always nervous about moving up. Wondering am I ready? Will I be able to do it? It's just such an incredible feeling to think this dream of running a 5k might indeed happen. Love hearing about folks achieving it when they are like me and thought they never could. Another gratifying thing about today's run. My 13 yo son goes out with me occasionally and usually has to wait on me a lot. Today I had to wait on him. Admittedly he was not feeling well but still it felt like progress!

I did it, I did it, I did it!!! I ran my first 5K this morning in 34:51. My goal was 36 minutes, so I made it!! I didn't walk a step, and I made it! Whoohooo!! I have another in July and one in August too, so I'm going to keep up my training. It wasn't easy, but I did it!!!

I have always ran residential streets, but near the end of my run there is a trail that leads up to a peak. I have had my eye on it for weeks.

Today I decided to run it! I finished my podcast (for W3D3)right as I got to the top of the peak (I had to speed walk parts because it was too steep to run). I stretched and practiced yoga while in view of the whole Las Vegas Valley. I could see the entire strip. It was so peaceful. I started to listen to my music on my way down and then switched over to my podcast and started it over again! I only did half of it the 2nd time around, but I am so proud of myself! I think I am ready to go to week4!I will do this on every day 3 run from now on.

I finished Week5 Day2 and what a great feeling it was when I was done. Day3 has a full 20 minute run and I am not looking forward to that, but I know that I will finish it.
