Celia, hope you figure out your medical issues. I've had them too and it turned out to be Lyme disease. Since I've started treatment, I've finally started to lose weight (albeit slowly).

My official weigh-in is tomorrow and I am hoping to be even closer to that exit ramp!

Well, my GP was no help about weight loss. She's overweight herself and probably feels she's not a good resource. She just suggested weight watchers. That's ok. I'm going to see a nutritionist next week. I should have my lab results by Friday. I'm curious about my thyroid levels. I really want to know what has had me so tired. I'm going to try to fight thru today and not take a nap. I have a lot to do. Despite that, I've committed to finding 20 minutes to exercise today.

It's the end of the month and I'm still here. I'm not stressing about it though. I think I have some medical things going on. I have appts with a few doctors this month--GP, endocrinologist, psychiatrist--and I'm going to try to get to the bottom of this. My thyroid may be the culprit in this recent weight gain. I'm also reaching out to a dietician next week so I'm hopeful about March.

my stay here is alot longer than I antincipated. I've gained a couple of pounds, and just recently lost 1 pound in water. Apparentlyh eating 1 grapefruit a day helps me lose all the retained water. who knew?

I've been working more on using 'intuitive eating' in tandem with calorie tracking. I find that when I really pay attention to signals of hunger and fullness, I can usually get by on 100-150 fewer calories per day than I think I need (1550). I'm going to try to pay closer attention to how many calories my body is telling me it needs, rather than simply getting in a calorie quota each day. I'm also cutting out the mid afternoon snack. I'll still have my treat at the end of the day. It'll just be a once a day thing now. We'll see how it goes this week.

I've lost just about all of the 1.5 lbs, but strangely, my clothes are fitting more losely than before. I don't keep track of inches, but I would suspect that my body is losing in that way rather than lbs. right now. Which is fine. I'm looking forward to moving on out of the 230-ville. I'm anticipating being out of 230-ville in the next couple of weeks. Even though there isn't much interaction on the message boards, it helps me with my focus if I post regularly. I love the idea of moving to a new "ville" each time you lose 10 lbs. It gives me a really significant milestone to look forward to every couple of months. I'm in the low 230's right now, and it's a place that was hard to visualize when I first started out. I'm now looking at 220-ville, and will have a whole new set of experiences there.

I'm just taking a moment to reflect on where I am, and where I've been, and look with anticipation to the future. I just hope my desire to document my journey through 230-ville will eventually help someone to realize that they can make it through too. I've gone out of my way to document the good, bad, and the in between. I'll do the same when I make it to my new "ville". And hopefully, someone else's journey through that new land will encourage me as well.

MOMMAC -- I did learn that if we haven't been drinking enough water, our bodies can hold on to it because it they think they won't be getting any more water for a while. Once your body gets used to the fact that it's getting water regularly, it will start to release it. I think that's what happened to me this weekend. I had stalled for 2 weeks after upping my water intake. All of a sudden this weekend, I lose 3 lbs. That's the only way to explain it. And it looks like it's going to stick! 20 lbs. down. Woo hoo!

Well, the scale is showing a 2 lb. loss over a couple of days. It may be water weight. Either way, I like the numbers I see. We'll see if it sticks. I have a water-only week coming up. For some reason, the more water I drink, the slower the scale moves. I know it sounds crazy, but it's true. I know I need water, though, so water only for me this week.

Okay, something else I've learned -- I need to give myself a cushion of at least 50 calories per day to allow for miscalculations. They happen. Using all your calories everyday is like taking every dime out of your bank account. You're bound to end up in the 'red' once in a while. No likey.

I had kind of a disappointing day yesterday. I miscalculated my calories, and went over accidentally. So..I saw a slight gain. I've seen small gains the last 2 days, and it stings. I know it's just temporary, but no one likes moving backwards.

I have learned something, though. Multigrain bread helps my digestive system -- more than fiber pills, more than vegetables alone. I obviously need bread. It does something no other food can do. I've shifted away from it in recent months, and I've seen the effects.

So, I'll try to get in more whole grains everyday. Learning, learning...

I made Shepherd's Pie last night. I fed it to my husband. He's going to eat the whole thing, because I'm not touching it. Beef is not good for my weight loss efforts. It affects my system badly. I may try a bite tonight, though.

I had an epiphany that I blogged about today -- I raelized that it is completely within reason for me to lose 50 lbs. by the end of the year. That's only 32 more lbs. If I continue to lose 6 lbs. a month, it could happen... eee!

No pressure, though.

I'm really proud of myself for having cooked 4 out of 5 workdays this week. The shock? I actually enjoyed it! All but the cleanup. I'll be cruising sparkrecipies.com for new recipies to try this weekend.

Okay, finally got the scale to move. I think I'm over-beefing. My body does not handle beef well. It's time I accepted it. The minute I start avoiding beef, the scale starts to move. Things are better in the restroom too, if you know what I mean...

I'll just make beef an occasional thing from now on. Glad to be moving forward again!
