I picked a day when I knew I would not be around people who smoked and when I was reasonably sure my stress would be low. I also needed a time when I could keep my hands busy with other things.

I didn't, it picked me : ) Really! I just waited until I caught one of those days when most of the stress was @ a low level and ran with it (literally) and every time I wanted to smoke I stuffed my feet into my sneakers and went for a run around the block. Or if I wasn't home I jumped in my car where I would never smoke because I hated the smell it left etc etc.
To be honest. I really was sick of the smell, the hold it had on my life and the trips to the store @ midnight because I ran out. Took long enough right?( 40 years is a long time to choke your lungs) Now, I feel so darn great I wonder why I didn't get it sooner!!
Convince the cigarettes that you really dislike them and don't want them in your life and they'll leave, really.
Good luck with it. You'll know when your reallyready,you will. Just like that you'll build up a great anger at whatever got you started and from there you'll keep pushing.....

If your a music lover like me go get yourself a MP3 player and tune out the world and the cravings.
