Starting to notice the bad smell of smoke when I enter my work building. There is a butt can by the door and boy does it stink!! I never really noticed that before.

My 20th day!!!! So very proud, but haven't been in any of my real trigger situations - i.e. bars, pool hall, clubs. Some of my fave places to hang on the weekend, but I know they will make me crave bad. I guess, it's just best to avoid those places? Hard to do tho....

Shey, that is an awesome idea. Yesterday when the cravings hit...I walked to a friends office and stuck my head in the door. I said "quick...tell me I don't want a cigaretter or any food!" We talked for a while and I got back on track and felt stronger. It was great!

We can do this!! We can be smoke free and slim and healthy!!

good for you Lori, you're doing great!
I'm now on day 18 and it seems to be getting easier. When my break comes I get on the phone. Call anyone, your mother, husband, children, a friend, etc.
That way your mind is kept busy and preoccupied. If you are having a conversation with someone you are way less likely to be thinking about food or cigarettes. At least thats what works for me. Everyday I call my mother for fifteen minutes and talk about anything I can think of. It seems to work so I'm going to stick to it. Hope you can find something that works for you!

WTG Everyone!! I am at 18 days now with no smoking! Trying hard to not gain any weight as I give up the cigarettes. It is really hard now that I am back to work full time. Break time comes and I want to do something...either eat or smoke...can't do either one though. Trying to find a replacement...any suggestions??

SHEY03 - Happy one week anniversary of being smoke free!!!
Lisaandcable I cannot say how proud I am of you for quitting smoking while pregnant!! That's fantastic!
I am proud of all of you!!!
I'm on day 3! I hear that after three days the nicotine is out of your system, and the rest of the addiction is what to do with your hands... I wonder if there is any truth to that.
Take care everyone!

I had smoked for 28 years and had only quit for an eight month period. My National Guard unit got activated for deployment to Iraq and I started back smoking. I was smoking nearly 3 packs a day while I was over there. I told my wife that I would quit when I came back home. That was three years ago. Well I finally decided that it was time to make some changes in my life and I have been smoke free for 11 days now. emoticon emoticon Hang in there everyone.

11 months ~ 8 days & a couple of hours emoticon

Be proud of yourself. This is my number 4 quit in 25 years but for some strange reason I am pretty sure that it is going to stick. Trying not to question too much and just let it be. Did substitute food for a while and now am working on that part (I am SUCH an addict!) But I do feel better, my singing voice is clearer & I am hitting notes I haven't in a very loooong time.

My 9 yr old son is very happy as is my husband and my 20 yr old daughter is estatic. 'course she is the one that had been after me to quit for the longest. Her support also meant the most. She would call me from school if she wasn't home every month on "that day". She would even bring me flowers or ask one of her friends that stayed home to continue school to bring them to me. She's an awesome young woman.

Noticed too that my animals wanted more kisses & snuggles (depending on their size. My old guy Star cracked me up the 1st week because he would come in from the pasture & just smell my head & then lean back & look at me as if to say, "I know it's you but it doesn't smell like you!"

It was not easy for me (or my family at times) but the closer I get to a year the more I truely believe that it has been worth it.

Luck to ya' darlin' emoticon

Hey everybody, hope your journey to a healthier life is going smoothly. Today I'm 13 days smoke free! I know its not long but I am super excited because thats the longest I've gone without smoking in ten years. My biggest hurdle was last night. I went out for cocktails after work with a group of friends. Thats usually when I smoke the most is when I drink.
However last night, surrounded by four smokers, I drank and didn't even feel the urge to smoke. It was so liberating. I love calling my self a non-smoker. So now that I've shared a little about me why don't you do the same.

Best wishes,
Shey emoticon
