I failed all of last week. I asked God to forgive me for turning to food for comfort instead of the Holy Spirit. At first I really did give my burdens to the Lord. Then I took them back; I am ashamed to say. Yesterday was my fast day; I pray for everybody and their brother. I decided to I ask the Lord to heal my appetite. I looked it up online and found where the hypothalamus is located and laid my hands on my head and prayed for that specific organ.(It's located behind the bridge of the nose and in a little less than half way) I'm walking in that healing even though I don't feel it yet. My neck is out of place and I am in a great deal of pain with no money for the chiropractor. I am looking for that healing as well. They prayed for me at church last night. I hurt so bad I almost did not go. Not my norm! I am so very glad I did. I am standing on His promises. He's my Healer.

Here's a a link if you'd like to check it out for yourself and ask God to heal yours. I was asking Him for the healing of all yours while I was praying and fasting yesterday. :^). My family members and church family as well. He says to ask, believing, and that is what I am doing. Won't you pray in agreement with me? It sure would help take the work out of this, wouldn't it? en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Hypothalamus

God bless, Peggy

Janet, $2.50 is a very good price...watermelon is 7.99 in our local markets
Sadie,I do love watermelon and even though I have to limit it due to the diabetes, my kidney specialist want me to have 2 cups for breakfast because the watermelon juice is very good for the kidney. (They would like for me to squeeze and drink the watermelon juice-2 cups.)

Wow, I don't know how I managed to miss a few days checking in. My honey was home for 5 whole days! I didn't gain anything and managed to loose a little less than a pound. You are all correct, we are so VERY blessed by our God and each other. This is really the only team I participate in to any extent. I don't know how the rest of you do it! Especially those of you who are leaders on more than 1 team... emoticon
We had temps in the 80's and 90's for over a week (Pacific NW, WA state) but we're back to clouds and in the 60's. I hope we get back to the sun soon, our summers are short but gorgeous. We live about 20 miles SW (as the crow flys) of Mt. Saint Helen's and can see the top of it from our house. Haven't been able to since Mon. because of clouds. My favorite view of it however is on a clear winters night when the moon is full. It's awesome to look out the window at 2a.m. and see it large and shining in the moonlight. Those times are like little gifts from God! (Especially when you're up at 2 a.m.!)
Again, I want to thank you all and our gracious Creator God for the blessings that come my way because of you all.
May God continue to bless you as you continue to bless others.

Hey-You-Guyyyysss!!!!!! I finally turned it around. I lost 3 1/2 in a day! I had been so sad that after dropping Atkins, I just kept gaining and ended up 5 lbs over my starting wt. when I joined Sparks. Our temps are going to around 97 today. This is cooler than our 100's the last few weeks around Houston. I am actually about an hour north of there. Keep me in your prayers. I have been having health problems, and really need this to work. I am counting calories, and exercising as I can.

My prayer for you is for blessings and the joy of knowing Christ every day of your life. Tommie

Yes Sadie I can see that melon is high in natural sugars. Just out of interest, how many carbs are you permitted a day?

Ah...I made Joseph's birthday cake with 6oz butter, 3 eggs, 5oz spelt flour and cocoa powder....that's why he can finish the rest!!LOL!! I must admit I made him a cup of tea but said he'd have to cut his own piece of cake...can you imagine the 'smell' of just cutting it!!hehe!!

You're all welcome to my emoticon Believe me it is a huge one...weighed 7lbs...Joseph found a local store selling them very cheap...I converted our euro into dollars and found it would have cost you $2.50...is that a good price?

WYLLO1...thank God nobody was hurt on the collapse of that bridge! Reminds me of a missionary in Cameroon. We'd be there on a missionary trip (2004) and when we returned Joseph mailed out some books & Bibles to them. Lambe said he's been to collect the large box at the airport and had just driven across a bridge and as he reached the other side, he saw in his rear view mirror...the bridge collapsing!! Many people were drowned in the river but God's servant & the precious box was safe.

WYLLO1...well done for losing another 1lb!! That's not easy over w/e celebrations!

It continues to be hot here...my eating plan is going very well...funny how sometimes we can be very determined to stay on track whilst at other times...off we go!! emoticon
I even refused a slice of Joseph's birthday cake...afraid the rest is down to him now!!LOL!!

Wyllo, that put me in mind of the old painting with the two children walking across a broken bridge or pier and their guardian angel hovering over them, bringing them safely across. I am so thankful they were safe!

It sounds like all of you had a happy Fourth and a good weekend.
Our Fourth began as usual with our town's annual parade, which happens to march right in front of our house; but half way through the parade, it began to drizzle. By the end of the parade, our cook-out plans were washed out with a good downpour that lasted most of the rest of the day. It cleared in time for our township's fireworks display, which ended in disaster when the pedestrian suspension bridge at the park collapsed sending about 50 people into the cold, murky waters of the lake below.
Thank God no one was seriously injured, and there were no fatalities. My grand daughter and her boyfriend had only just made their way across the bridge before it collapsed.
We decided to have our cookout on Sunday, which turned out to be a very nice day... not too hot, a nice breeze and family with whom to shaRE it all. Although, there was talk about Laurie and how she was missed, because she was always the life of a party, we all made it through the day with no tears.
All in all, I have to be very thankful. I thank God that He lead my grand daughter quickly and safely acroos the bridge, as she was leaving the fireworks display. I thank God for family, who are close to each other and support each other. I thank God for rainy days, even if it was the Fourth of July, because we have been suffering from a drought and all my plants were showing stress from both heat and the lack of water; and, I thank God for a beautiful day yesterday so we could all come together for food and fun.
Through it all, I even managed to loose another pound. Thank you, Jesus, for that, too.

God is my strength and power: and he maketh my way perfect. (2 Samuel 22:33)

Look what I found while searching for a cake recipe with Splenda....

"You may notice a smaller yield when substituting SPLENDA® Granular for sugar.

In some cases, cakes and quick breads will not rise as high as their full-sugar counterparts, but they will still taste delicious!

• To achieve a better rise:
Switch from 9" round pans to 8" round pans with 2" sides. Also, try adding 1/2 cup nonfat dry milk
powder and 1/2 teaspoon of baking soda for every 1 cup of SPLENDA® Granular."

Good morning, dear friends!

Sadie,
My friend Vicki, whom you folks have been praying for on the praise and prayer board, has diabetes. I help her in her home twice a week, because of her other health problems, and have been making cookies following a regular recipe and substituting Slenda. So far oatmeal and peanut butter have both turned out delish...in Vicki's opinion. They look great, too. I can't eat Splenda. She has a birthday coming up the nineteenth. I'm going to try to bake her a cake.

HELEN, I WILL GET BACK TO YOU LATER WITH THE RECIPE, MY DAUGHTER MAKES THE CAKE FROM SCRATCH, SHE USED SPLENDA AND IT DIDN'T RISE SO IF YOU USE SUGAR IT WILL HAVE MORE CALORIES, BUT EVEN IF IT DIDN'T RISE IT WAS STILL GOOD, I HAVE TO FIND THE RECIPE IN THE COOKBOOK.

Janet, it sounds like Joseph had a wonderful birthday with great food. Glad to hear that the swelling in your ankles and feet is getting back to normal.
SADIE, WHAT IS THE RECIPE FOR THE REFRIGERATOR CAKE? IT SOUNDS DELICIOUS!! IS IT JUST A CAKE MIX WITH THE SUGAR FREE PUDDING AND SUGAR FREE JELLO…ANYTHING ELSE GO INTO IT?
Missy, that cake sound good too and easy to make. Thank you for sharing your great ideas. My younger daughter has a birthday on the 13th so it is good to have a few ideas. However she will probably want an ice cream cake or something outrageous. lol

Sadie, we take a regular cake mix and add 10 ounces of diet soda and one serving of egg beaters to it. Then bake it according to package directions. The calories and fat in the mix is all you eat, usually about 180 calories and 3 grams of fat. Good stuff!

Thank you all for the lovely welcome back!
Hope you all had lots of happy times with your families & friends yesterday.

I'm just roasting a leg of lamb for lunch, it's Joseph's favourite and if you can't have what you like on your birthday...when can you? I've also made him a chocolate birthday cake; complete with candles...well, not 65 of course...don't want to cause a fire!!LOL!!
So...think my weigh in will be quite high this week but that's what celebrations do! But starting tomorrow I shall be back on track! My ankles & feet are slowly getting back to normal. I think it was all the walking we did in Valencia and it was extremely hot!

Janet, Welcome back and thank you for the Fourth of July wishes. Hope Joseph's big toe is better. He is one tough guy to continue doing all that walking with a sore toe. Give him extra kisses and hugs for not letting it stop your fun!!! I hope your ankles and feet are not so swollen and sore. Soak them in some epsom salts water (if available) and elevate them. Hopefully they will be all better while you celebrate Joseph's birthday tomorrow. God bless you both.
May God continue to bless our team. What great and delightful members God has brought to this team. AWESOME!!!

Thanks everyone for the good wishes that you left for me and our celebrations...

Before we left home, Joseph managed to bang the end of his big toe against the end of the bed (you know how these things happen!) and so he was hobbling around with a swollen toe and a black toe nail! Our few days away was lovely. We explored the city centre on foot the day we arrived and the next day we visited "The city of Science." There was a huge scientific museum that relates to our every day living, that we all just take for granted. We also saw the "Oceanographic." We saw all the fish and mammals that live in the sea...all so interesting! The dolphin show was spectacular too! The weather was hot, necessitating ice creams...and lots of other things that I'd have been better off not eating but it was fun.
The only downside for me was that we walked so much in the heat that my ankles & feet have swollen badly and of course the long drive back home last night didn't help!

Wishing you all a good 4th July today... emoticon emoticon

Public Library is how I got them, had to wait but well worth the wait. I've given them as gifts to my folks as they really wanted to read them and I think their library isn't close. They are also snow birds live in PA and FL. So might not have library membership.
Let me know when you get them and if you like them.

ParaEast, thank you for the information on Joel Rosenberg's books. Our local library has them and as soon as they are back in the put a hold on them for me. We have a christian college in our town and all the good books like that are grabbed by the college first...sometimes it takes a while to get them if you don't ask for a hold. If it takes to long I will try to get them at the other library...maybe even the college library as I still have a card for there. Thank you again!

Have you ever read any of Joel Rosenberg's books? He is good and really sees what is going on. He really thinks the rapture could happen at any time too and with his knowledge of Wash DC and Israel it's just amazing! If any of you haven't read him try either the Epicenter or Inside Revelation. I got them from our public library. He's good!

Wyllo, congrats on that weight loss! I'm so glad you are allowing grief to take its natural course by letting tears flow when they need to flow.

Momma Bear, what a blessing that McKenzie is being raised up in the Lord and knows truth. Those lessons of life and death and grief will give her such strength throughout her life.

Wyllo1, Never feel bad about crying your grief for such a wonderful person or for anyone that is close to you. Tear are very healing just as Sadie said. McKenzie said something today that just had me in tears and although it is not the same...grief is still grief. My daughter had to have her 8 year old dog put to sleep about 2 months ago. McKenzie and I were at my DD house today and McKenzie just looked at me and said, "Nanny, I really miss Tyler. I wish I could see him just one more time. I love him." This just brought my grief back full force and I was immediately crying as she proceeded to tell me he was in heaven with God. It really was ok. But she wanted to see him one more time. Tyler is right in my heart always, she said. Oh to be 5 years old and to have it all in black and white.
Grief is different for each of us and it will take time. We are all here for you...keeping you in my prayers.
