Good morning,
It's raining here in the Boston area and suburbs. God is good and He's faithful. My challenge from my daughter was to take 45 minutes of rest and relaxation today away from the computer and television. I'll do that later on in the day.
Also, I plan to do at least 45 minutes or more of exercise and to eat as healthy as possible. I am getting back on track slowly, but surely.
I find that if I take it at a regular pace and allow the Lord to be my Guide, I do so much better than when I "take matters into my own hands!"
Have a blessed day,
Ruth

I also was awake early, mainly because I have not made it to bed yet, up with a sick grandchild. Today is a new day so I choose to have a positive and compassionate attitude.

Ah wonderful to see you here Norlene, welcome to this special team!
Sorry you're awake so early...I am too but that's because I'm in Spain...!!LOL!!

I agree, it's so wonderful that the Holy Spirit can lead us to eat healthy and take care of our bodies.

I'm just off to a nearby town on an errand for a neighbour how's in the UK until October.
Have a blessed day everyone! emoticon

This looks like a good place to start tracking accountability, something I truly need.
Yesterday was not so good but this is a new day. Actually it is very early am, I am just having trouble sleeping. I want to blame it on 50 but I also snacked late in the evening and I think that woke me up!

Glad your hubby's home, Yatmama. My husband used to be gone for long periods; now he's retired and home almost always.

I did well today. Tomorrow I get up early to mow the lawn. (Because it will be in the 90s by 10, with dangerous heat index) I'm dreading it, but I know it will make me feel better (and save the $45 it costs to have it done.)

Way to go Yatmama!
I would have added gravy to the biscuit! I've had my breakfast & lunch with NO SNACKING! And I'm not even hungry... I think even with all the calories I had been eating before, I must have been deficient in protein or something, as I'm feeling satisfied after I eat now. Before, I could be stuffed but still feel like it wasn't quite what I wanted. My tummy was full but my mouth was still hungry! God is teaching us all "a new thing"!

Isn't it wonderful when you know there will be food that won't sabotage your good intentions? My husband's first morning home and he wanted to go out to breakfast, something we used to do several times a week on his two weeks home. My heart just isn't in it anymore. The only thing I felt I knew the values of and felt I could afford to eat was a pancake and I didn't enjoy that. I came home and had low-fat cottage cheese and fruit and continued my day in victory. I love that God is changing the way I think!! Routinely I'd have eaten that pancake along with bacon, eggs, hash browns, and a biscuit. That whole mindset seems foreign to me now and I know it's because of the renewing of my mind by the Holy Spirit. God truly does do all things well! No walking yet for me today. It's 96F and 43% humidity (low humidity for us, but still). Think I'll wait til the sun goes down a bit more, but water, calories and fat grams are on target. Hallelujah!!

Well, I've had both my breakfast & lunch and I'm on track with my water. Been painting all morning, cabinets, ugh. Hard on the neck & shoulders. Cravings for pastries are not as intense as when I started. God is so good! Praying for us all.

So far so good... My sister Thelma has invited me to go to church tonight. She is taking a frozen yogurt pie....so I know there will be food. I've been eating light today to prepare....then I'll try very hard to eat in moderation there.

Thank you, Sadie. :^)

My husband's first day home (for two weeks, after his four week hitch on his ship in the Gulf of Mexico) and he wanted to take me to breakfast, something we used to do several times a week. I was almost afraid to touch the menu like it was toxic.

emoticon

The ONLY thing at this little local dive that didn't seem like it was dressed in horns and a pointy tail, holding a pitchfork was a pancake.

emoticon

I gotta tell ya, without knowing the values for it and without having healthier alternatives, I just couldn't enjoy the meal. I nibbled the edges of the pancake, enjoyed the sweet company of my husband, came home and had some low-fat cottage cheese and fruit. THAT was good.

emoticon

I really do know that God is making all things in me new. He's so faithful to complete this good work within me that He has begun. He is causing the desires of my heart to be more pure, to be more healthy. I cannot praise Him enough!!

Ok here I go, I am with CAT and am having a hard time getting it all together. I am working on my exercise first walk/jog instead of just walking the dog~he appreciates it! Trying to work my way (slowly) up to a full jog. Did an extra cardio today as well. Have been over my calories for 2 days in a row....DH wanted to go out for pizza and I had pop with it...gonna have to switch to water when we do that!!! I always have the veggie pizza - his half is the cheese and sausage! Tonite have a jewelry party to go to and tomorrow is "birthday pie night" for a couple of friends bdays. Will have to be careful! Hope I can get back to eating properly~~brought a bunch of fruit for lunch and the rest of my half of the pizza (only a slice left)....

Good morning, Ladies,
I've been doing pretty well this week. My daughter ( 36 years old) and I are challenging one another daily with exercise, healthy eating, and the emotional things that come with weight loss. We each give the other a card with a goal for the day. Since we know each other so well, we know our limits and what we can "stretch." There is an incentive: after 10 completed cards, we will give one another a small, inedible gift.
Really, though, the incentive is to meet the goal daily.
God bless everyone,
Ruth

Morning Ladies!

There's a lot of new faces here -- how exciting! I'm in a boot camp challenge with one of my other groups and must say, it's challenging but I'm seeing progress! I've lost another 2 lbs. this week. Started Turbo Jam workouts and they are alot of fun and it's a change from walking/running on my treadmill!

Have a great day everyone!!!

I'm not doing as well as I'd like with my diet this week. There have been lots of "extras"--birthday,lunches with friends, and now father's day coming! Even though I try not to overeat when I'm eating out, I still can't lose weight. While I've enjoyed being with friends and family for everything, I will be glad to get back to a normal routine next week. I am trying to drink my water and get exercise.

If my mother's scales are right, and I am pretty sure they are, emoticon I've gained six pounds in the week I've been here. I really didn't feel like I was overeating either. I'm starting today and eating less pasta and potatoes and more veggies. O, and cookies....that was my own fault! My hope is that since it came on quickly that I can lose it quickly. It works that way for me if I get right back on it....if not I can just keep gaining. I'm on it today....like ugly on an ape!

Got to change my ticker...the Bible says something about honest scales....bummer.

Not waiting 'til I get home. Today is the day. Love you ladies, and am glad I came to this accountability board. Praying for us all! ~Peggy

Hi Everyone,
The past two days have been crazy, so it was only just now that I was able to get in and catch up on my SparkMail. I like the idea of this accountability thing, and I also like that we can share our challenges. So far, I seem to be doing OK, except that my exercise is often difficult to track. Most days, I do a LS DVD and/or one or two of Coach Nicole's Exercise of the Day routines. However, it's difficult to get in significant exercise time. I've been trying to pay attention to what both Leslie and Nicole have to say about muscle groups and then apply the concept to my daily movement (which is alot right now since we're in the midst of a whole house renovation). I keep telling myself that SP is about lifestyle...so I'm hoping that being purposeful about my eating and movement is what counts. So glad to have you guys alongside...it truly is an encouragement and help!

I've misplaced the memory stick with my business books on it. The good side is, I had to go through things to look for it, so cleaned and sorted a lot of paperwork. Still can't find it. Am asking the Lord to show me where it is. Fortunately I have a backup, and with a little work I will be up and running again.

Ate well, and didn't feed my frustration. Asparagus (pieces) and spinach wilted together with 1/4 cup Mexican shredded cheese makes a good side dish.

Bless you all1

Momma Bear,

Hope your tornado watch turns out all right. We had one here last Friday--tornados both north and south of us. We just got 80 mph straight line winds--electricity out for 2+ days and lots of debris in the yard.

I've had an attack of depression the last couple of days. I did a lot of exercise today, which seems to have my serotonin levels up. So I'm doing well now, within calories here and points at WW, and while I missed a couple of strength exercises, I did almost an hour of yard work, so I'm feeling good.

'tis just after the noon hour. I have eaten lunch. I am not doing so well. I was suppose to lose 10 pounds by June 22, I have a doctors appointment, and I have only lost 3 pounds. I just can't seem to turn my attitude toward eating and exercise around. I keep praying for God's help and direction. I am such a whimp!!! O well got that off my chest. That is how I am doing today.

Garper, my husband is out in the Gulf of Mexico four weeks and home two. Discipline is much more difficult alone, and then it goes out the window when he's home! lol I think the Lord is trying to teach me to stick with what's healthy, what builds up, not tears down, and to eliminate things that don't bear good fruit of some kind in my life. You have a lot of work ahead of you! Pray for the ones who damaged your home as you work and that'll heap blessings upon you. Maybe put on some peppy worship music? Lately I've been listening to a Gateway Worship CD in the mornings and it refocuses me so well. I pray for joy unspeakable to wash over you, my sister. Gladness is ours, even when our flesh proves us imperfect. We can rejoice in Him who is without flaw just the same!

Evidently Georgie was being played with in a way that looked like his head was being bitten off to Malachi. All five kittens were there. I was a bit afraid to go look. That would have "fixed" the old appetite. emoticon Thanks for the concern, Sadie. Malachi sees everything as larger than life. He's not a lier, though. It has been an interesting visit... emoticon

Well, it's only 8:30 am here in Washington State. I haven't really started my day yet. We live in a double wide on 5 acres. While we were in Africa the tenants we had messed up the place some plus we are trying to "update" it(it's 18 yrs old). I'm doing all the taping and texturing by hand, painting and replacing all the moulding. Clyde works out of town so this is my full time "job"! The project I'm working on now is very frustrating, and I really want to put it off. But Jackie posted a piece about getting what you most don't want to do out of the way by making it the thing you most WANT to do. Sometimes being by myself so much makes discipline very difficult. That's why SP is so good for me! Otherwise I never would have read Jackie's post! (Thank you Jackie, that really has been a blessing!) Well, I've rattled on long enough, time to get to work, Yea! (sigh) Still doing good tracking food and drinking water, but exercise is not going so well. I better shut up before I talk myself into the dumps! Thanks all....

I'm staying with my family in Ohio, and they eat differently than I do....so it has been a challenge. I've not been doing the greatest. Saturday is my family reunion. I guess I'll just try harder to eat in moderation and try to hold my own better. I can tell my tummy id chubbier.

My little seven year old nephew Malachi just came in to tell me that his puppy, Sherman, Just killed his favorite kitten, Georgie. So got to go. ~Peggy

Don't get down on yourself, Pat,

Since I completed PT and the bursitis in my knee is unchanged, I am having a hard time getting back into exercising--keeping up with the stretches, and doing a little upper body, but I am down in the dumps about my knee.

Blessings,

I don't use the fitness tracker. I do record my exercise in a journal, though and have been since I started way back in June of 2002.

Ruth, that sounds like an excellent challenge. You are doing great. How do you record Leslie's DVD's in the fitness tracker?

Today's challenge from Kimberly is to walk 45 minutes outside or in a mall. I spend most of my exercise time doing Leslie Sansone DVD's, which are excellent. I've been doing them since 2002. I do walk outside in the summer months, mosty, but have found that I have not been doing nearly as much walking in the fresh air as I have in past years. So it's a good challenge.

My adult daughter and I are challenging one another daily. This was her challenge for me today 6/16/09- to do 3 miles without a "rest." Lately I have been doing my miles with "rests" in between some of them. I know there's nothing wrong with that, but I would like to rebuild my stamina as I used to be able to do "4 miles" and even "5 miles" at a pop, if I so desired.

Our challenge is not necessarily always physical. It could be based upon food choices, water, or emotional challenges, but I do exercise daily ( want to keep that consistent), except for Sundays.

We are putting the challenges on an index card separately and when we each reach 10 days completed, we will give each other a small, nonedible gift!

How does everyone count calories when they go out to eat? Even when you think you are eating healthy you just never know.

I will be eating lunch out today so I will try to choose healthy.

Ok, I keep coming here and then forgetting to come back.
I'm going try something different... I'm going to check the team page first and then see what's going on... Ok so everyone has been doing that? Duh...

It's been 17 days that I've been tracking and exercising. I want the month of June to be the beginning of a good summer.

My caloric intake should probably be less than what is on the ticker... I may have to do something about that. But I need to leave the computer and get my 45 minutes of cardio in today.

I'll be back....

Good for you Denise...getting all that cardio in to counterbalance the crab cake. Was it nice?

I've already been shopping for some fresh fruit, apricots, nectarines, peaches and apples...that will keep us going for a few days. It's hot but not so bad as before. Now off to make some lunch, it's 1.30pm here!

Since it's early in the morning, I'll say that I stayed on track yesterday with fitness and calories. The only thing is I ate out and had a crab cake but it didn't look liked it was broiled and I didn't ask. I really have no idea what the calories content was but I did come home and did about 40 minutes of Turbo Jam!
