That hike sounds amazing!! We've been in the Mojave preserve before and I can't wait to go back. Next time we'll have to do this one...... emoticon

I can't imagine that heat!

Here's the Hole in the Wall I think of - in Washington on the coast. Beautiful spot!

ROFL..forgot why it was I came on here, hahaha

OH MAN!! That was by far the best hiking I've done yet...Hole-In-The-Wall is AMAZING.
I can't believe I was able to complete the ring trails..although I have to say, if I had been by myself, I probably would not have been able to pull my self up on those last few rings...VERY STEEP..impossible to do without the rings in place.

Going to be posting pics in my blog soon :)

if you use Google Earth, type in Kelso, CA in the search bar...it will zoom right into our location...this will give you a better idea of how exactly remote we are, lol....
You will see all six houses...and the Kelso, Depot..and then...nothing, lol...it's AWESOME!

Wyoming??
LOL...I'm definitely NOT in Wyoming, although I would love to visit there some day.

try this NPS website..
nps.gov/moja

I live in the Mojave Desert, CA
To be exact, right in the heart of the Mojave National Preserve, California..just one of the many National Parks. (NPS)
our little town has a population of 12 people..Kelso, CA.
We live approx. 40 miles from Baker, CA, 109 miles from Barstow, CA, 120 miles from Twentynine Palms/Joshua Tree...96 miles from Henderson/Las Vegas, NV...110 miles from Bull Head City, AZ...

basically, we are in the middle of nowhere, lol...with Baker, CA being the closest place to get gas. There is not much else in Baker, CA..a few gas stations/convenience stores..and the Baker School where both my boys attended.
It's a very small school, Sean was one of the 13 Seniors to graduate this year, lol

ok - I googled and see you are in Wyoming. I can't wait to hear about your adventure but I have to say the 'mostly established trail' sounds kind of scary!! Have you or your friend been there before? I love hiking but am leary of getting lost when the trail isn't clear!!

Tomorrow me and my friend are going hiking up and around the Mid Hills area of the preserve..there is a really cool 1.5/2 mile trail over at Hole in the Wall...where you actually, with the help of rings that have been positioned into the face of the mountain, climb down and through the gaps in the mountain..
We are also planning to do some additional hiking up at Mid Hill, parts of Wild Horse Canyon, as well as 'scout' around looking for other future 'adventures' to add to our bucket lists.

I added pictures to my blog today that I snagged of the internet of the area that we will be hiking tomorrow, but I will be taking my camera so I can take my own pictures. I want to start a One`derland scrap book with pictures of my hiking adventures out here in the desert boonies..
We are looking at temps around 110 degrees down on this end..but it should be around 10-15 degrees cooler up there by Mid Hills as the elevation is much higher.

It's going to be a great adventure...leaving tomorrow morning at 4am :)
