Hello, everyone. I know this is a long-shot, but I thought I'd post here in case anyone lives in the NYC/ Hudson Valley area and is available to help me search for my dog this weekend. I lost my dog Janie hiking last weekend in Sterling Forest State Park in Tuxedo, NY (Rockland/ Orange Co border). Janie is a 4 yo female golden retriever mix, about 50 lbs. She is newly adopted and terrified of strangers. Her leash slipped out of my hand while we were hiking. When I went to grab it, she panicked and ran away. I chased her for about 2 miles before I finallly lost sight of her. She hasn't been spotted since. I am so worried about her, especially because her leash was still attached. I am trying to organize volunteers to search the park for her this weekend. The park is huge-- 20,000 acres and it adjoins Harriman State Park. It really is like finding a needle in a haystack. My hope is that if there are lots of hikers out at one time, the chances will be greater that she might be spotted. Once that happens, we can try to catch her using a dog trap. There will be volunteers coming out both days, but I am expecting Sat to be the bigger turnout since the weather will be better. I'll be out all day on Saturday, and the morning on Sunday. Here is a link to the park's website: nysparks.state.ny.us/parks/74/maps.a

If anyone is available to come out, please SM me & I'll send more details. Thanks!
