City looked flatter than a pancake on Saturday - everyone just kind of going through the emotions like winning was a foregone conclusion. Along comes Southhampton with absolutely no one I've ever heard of and creates a stir heard around the soccer world. Glad to see Sir Alex went for the kill rather than holding back too many players for Wed. As i count it, fresh legs for Chicharito, Ferdinand, Wellback, Young, Scholes (lesser extent Kagawa, Nani, Anderson) - pays to be deep in talent. Will be great to see CR again - especially after his brilliant hat trick this weekend (way too easy)

Ok, now for the most important question of the weekend - Torres' new haircut like or dislike? My vote: emoticon

This will sound totally corny I know, but when Gerrard's goal went in, i actually teared up - I was so happy for him! What a monster kick from 30 yds out and what a result! Of course, i would have preferred a LFC win, but will take a tie anyday for the lads in baby blue! Yes, Newcastle v Chelsea was beyond amazing as well! But one of my favorite games of the weekend had to be QPR v Norwich City - both bottom of the table teams fighting it out as if their lives depended on it (well, for QPR that would be true) - but I told my husband that was one of the most entertaining 0-0 games I can remember.

Now on to an international week - go USA!!!

It was a good match - as much as i despise City - i have to give them props, they played well. Arsenal gave it a good effort, but hard to go a man down early.

Man U gives me ulcers watching them sometimes - DeGea is sometimes the best player the opponents have on their team! Have to say, i do enjoy seeing Gerrard play well, but happy for the result.

Can't believe Chelsea / Stoke City was not televised - so ticked - love seeing Geoff Cameron play for the Stoke City Rubgy/Football Club. Horrible score though, maybe i shouldn't be so upset, but freaking Newcastle was on during same time slot!

Good show for the Reds this weekend - nice to see three different goal scorers! I hope i don't jinx anything by saying this, but...I actually think DeGea is getting better. He's a very good shot stopper - would like to see him actually hold on to some of those though once in a while - makes me a bit nervous. But I do have to give him props for making some great stops

Thoughts from past weekend:
1. RVP - thank you!!!
2. Stoke vs Aston Villa - loved seeing 3 Americans on pitch at the same time and although boring result of 0-0, thought Eric Lichaj was a bright spot for AV - seeing him and Cameron play, i can't help thinking the USMNT has got to be better this year for all the experience being gained overseas!
3. Liverpool - exciting game and love the away kit
4. Tottenham - you lads have GOT to find ways to win (nice goal Dempsey)
5. West Ham - get better soon Andy Carroll - miss seeing you out there
6. Chelsea - who cares

Haha to Chelsea, and Mr. Eden "I'm signing for the European champions" Hazard. Yes, lol i'm kinda bitter he turned us down for them.

Ha to Man City too.

Moving on...the big game. Praying for a victory, and will take a draw.

@Allchrissy..you read my mind! I mean he did bring him to Liverpool and we all saw how Torres excelled...could be bad lol. I don't think he'll stay though...the crazy Russian obviously wants Pep to take over so right now, he'll settle for whoever.
I dislike Chelsea, but i do feel for Roberto.
This weekend i acutally would take a draw or chelsea win...can't have man city being top =)

I was sooooooooooooo hoping for Tottenham to pull it out on Saturday - damn!

Chelsea / Liverpool was a fun game to watch, but wish LFC could have pulled out one more goal.

Talk about playing down to the level of the competition! Man U should have destroyed Arsenal as badly as they were playing. Just when I think our defense totally sucks, I just have to watch an Arsenal game and realize it could be worse. I actually do feel sorry for those guys - I think Walcott is a quality player and it had to kill him to be on the bench for so long. And Rooney - WTH was up with that poor excuse for a penalty kick???

Still can't put a finger on what is up with LFC - they have the talent to be near the top of the table. Watching the game, Sterling definitely showed promise, but played like a teenager (like he is) and Suarez could be a hero or zero at any given minute. That was an exciting game though - talk about a hyped up crowd!

Big sigh of relief and no boasting after this one - we definitely had luck on our side. I'm glad it was at Chelsea or the comments around home field advantage would have been off the scale. I do understand the call on Torres' dive - when looking it at from the camera angle the ref would have seen it from. Little contact, definitely embellished by the supreme actor Torres, but contact none the less. Get to play them again tomorrow in a non-league game. Should be chippy

What.A.Game....oh my goody goody gumdrops. I was telling a friend that in all honesty, i would take a draw. Chelsea in general are a hard side to beat, but playing them at the bridge is equally difficult.

First of all, i'm OVER THE MOON....i still can't believe it.Wow!
To go 2 up before 15 minutes. I couldn't believe this was my side playing. I knew Fergie wasn't going to play the diamond formation. I figured he'd start with Valencia and Young/Nani on the wings to take advantage of Cole and Ivanovic which proved right.

My take on the red cards. First one: correct. Second: hmmm Evans did make contact with Torres...minimal contact, but enough for Torres to fall...I'm still on the fence with the decision though. Could he have stayed up? Maybe...i don't know. But anyway. Torres could have been sent off earlier with his challenge on Cleverly.

Chica's goal: clearly offside, but football is a game of luck and we were lucky. I've read alot of people complaining, but at the end of the day, a win is a win. We have 3 points and that's all that matters. Not all win's are pretty, but i'm pretty ticked at some fellow united fans saying we should not have won =/ So many decisions in the past at the bridge have gone against us.

Lastly, (I've realised i've wrote a whole paper lol) Chelsea have filed a complaint against Mark Clatenberg saying he's used inappropriate language against 2 of their players, Mikael is one. I'm curious to know what they've claimed he's said to them. I hope it's not them being childish and not handeling defeat well.

I have to say, no game will be a given for MU this year - not with that weak defense! I too was very pleased with the attack and the total team play of RVP with some tremendous crosses! Stoke is a good team, they've made for very exciting games this year against the best opponents. Love seeing Crouch still play so well, and I smile just thinking about the experience Cameron is getting that can only help the USMNT defense as we get closer to WC.

Still not a DeGea fan, but will give him benefit of doubt for now - never can see myself becoming an Evans fan. Glad to see Nani NOT in the game - he's been playing terrible lately.

Chelsea / Tottenham game was fun to watch - disappointed with outcome, but definitely an exciting match! Guess Dempsey had a bit of jet lag

Great week for United attacking. Most important thing was the 3 points, but it was great seeing rooney and welbeck get off the mark...i still think Welbeck is wasteful though. Down sides...coming from behind AGAIN! We can't afford to do that against a team like Chelsea or City. Other talking point...our defence...to give away that second goal was horrid. Similar to Bale's goal against Spurs...no one made a challenge. Hurry up Smalling, Jones, and Vidic..Rio needs some time on the bench along with Jonnyl.

I guess i'll mention City...what's up with them winning game in injury time??

The big 4 all looked strong this weekend! As a MU fanatic, I was happy to see some more goal scorers emerge! Looks like a week off for WC qualifying next week. After a rocky start, the cream is rising - now we need LFC to start climbing a bit more and all will be steady state in the EPL

Wanted: Defensive players capable of working as a team in order to shut down opposition, can mark players during set plays, won't try to take on role as a loner, aggressive yet savvy. Injury prone defenders are not being accepted at this time. Please send resume and salary requirements attn Sir Alex Fergusson. Immediate positions available.

PS After yesterday's performance, Arsenal defenders need not apply - you're in worse shape

I KNOW! It was GREAT!!! I absolutely adore SG. And I thought BR was ok. I felt some of it was a little forced. And the whole BoSox thing was awkward!
LFC need to look within... not without. They have enough quality on that team. No reason to be sitting in the RZ. NONE! BR better fix it.
Just sitting here watching the MADRID/CITY match! HOLY MOLY! 88th minute! 2-2. NAIL BITER!

I feel your pain, I watched the self destructive LVP lads yesterday almost dumbfounded! With that kind of possession, it should have been 5 - 0. Actually, had a few very unlucky shots on goal that should have gone in (Johnson's especially). Sterling was the bright spot for sure, but you can only do so much feeding great crosses only to see them go nowhere.

My heroes for the weekend? Stoke City!!! I think MC was thinking ahead to the UCL game this week (come on Christiano, make them eat sod)

Tottenham looked decent late in the game, but there's way too much talent on that team to not score earlier!

The 5K was awesome! The only ones I have done in recent memory were the SP virtual races, so this was a bit scary for me. It was a trail run through a couple of different types of surfaces. My hubby and I ran it together, but after a while, I actually got ahead of him. Our daughter and her roommate from college surprised us by being there and she had a big sign saying "I'm proud of my mom and dad" She caught us right at the end of the first lap and it was just what I needed for motivation to never quit. You can absolutely do it - it's just as much mental as physical. Are you doing the SP 5K in Oct? Great way to benchmark where you are at. My first one was a walk/run and it got me kicked off in wanting to complete an actual race. Looking forward to doing another race in the spring.

What a horrible display yesterday!!!! Gerrard looked like a fish out of water. So what we had over 60% of the possesion?? WHO CARES?!?!?! This is NOT a game of stats... it's a game of goals. ARGH!
On a brighter note... STERLING! WOWSER!!!

A 5K? How'd it go??? I start my training today. :)

Wow, only one week off for internationals, and I was almost in EPL withdrawal - very anxious to settle in this weekend and watch all the games! Hope to see MU have a great game without it being a nail biter! RVP can't carry the team all season, defense has got to improve - and I'm not putting stock in Jonny Evans - not a huge fan.

Running a 5k in the morning - time goal for this one? Getting back in time for the 10 am kick off!

I will not only watch it, I'll record it and watch 100 times! I chased them up and down the East Coast this summer! Boston and Baltimore.Met Ian Rush and Robbie Fowler in both places. It was utterly amazing!
I think Torres is suffering from a major lack of confidence. He settled into LFC so easily... and then BAM! Chelsea. We'll see what we see. He needs to perform to get back into the Spanish team.
Totally missed that boat! Dempsey is in a great spot. I saw Spurs in Baltimore... they are exciting to watch.

Will you be watching the Being Liverpool drama series when it airs? I plan to, but have to figure out what day/time it will be showing.

Torres is truly an enigma - just when you think he sucks and is done, he'll put out a hat trick. Chelsea as a whole are an enigma! I agree with your earlier post, think Owen will be wearing a different red soon, and yes, LVP definitely blew it with Dempsey. Although hind sight, think Clint ended up in a good spot.

I think Tottenham's downfall is going to be AVB.
My hubba thinks QPR is going down..
I'm so jealous of all the signings. SO very jealous. At this point, I'd take torres back. UGH!
Here's how I called the top 4 before the first kickoff:
1. ManCity

I like the Swans this year. Not to win it all, but maybe finish 5 or 6. Michu looks like a great addition
QPR has quite a roster - once they gel, they will be a force dealt with.
Van Persie will be great for Man U, and I think that Rooney is better when he's on on the hook to be the team's goal scorer
I love Chelsea's new coach. Love the addition of Hazard. Not a big Torres fan, but Hazard and Mata will create so many chances, that blues will be strong
And then Dembele and Dempsey with Tottenham - should be a great season!!!

Mamagrace... LFC is KILLING ME! ARGH! I can't take it! We played exceptionally well this weekend... but COULD NOT SCORE A GOAL! We missed the boat on Dempsey. We need a goal scorer. I think we'll see Mr. Owen make a return to Anfield.
RVP will flourish at ManU. However, i think rooney will suffer for it.
This is going to be ANOTHER exciting year for the EPL. Though, I think Aston Villa is headed for relegation and AVB will be the first manager sacked. Two very sad things.

I hate seeing Liverpool having so many issues - they have some really great players but need some spark of life! Believing at this point it is beyond the team and in the realm of coaches and managemement.

Other notes from the weekend - LOVED seeing Andy Carroll make such an impact for West Ham - hope his injury is not serious. Now that is an example of a spark! Man U is going to make me drink this year, I can feel it already - but RVP was massive when we needed it! That's two awesome games that Southampton has played now that they could of / should of won (Man C being the other) - no one should take them lightly, they will be pesky all year.

Lots of Americans to keep up with now in EPL - Dempsey, Freidel, Howard, Licha, Cameron, Edu, Guzon (sure I'm missing more)....but....

I MISS STUART HOLDEN - Come back soon - anywhere!

Wow - did anyone catch Suarez's direct kick for a goal against MC? Probably the best around-the-wall-just-inside-the-net DK I've seen!

Newbies showed they belonged over the past few days - both South Hampton and Reading did well despite opening losses. May not be pushovers this year

It WAS a good game! Everton played very well & I liked Kagawa's playing. DeGea had some great saves. Rooney didn't do much & Valencia at defender? Really? Bottom line there was no TEAM on the field!

Great game with Everton yesterday - hated the result of course, but saw some real positives. I think De Gea went through puberty over the summer because he really played like a man yesterday! Kagawa, despite missing a much needed goal, played very well - Nani on the other hand - not so good. I do have a soft spot for Everton since I never like to see Tim Howard lose, but wish it would have been at least a tie. Defense, despite Vidic back, has me a little concerned

I'd LOVE to see Dempsey at LFC. But, you're right, not quite Champion's league if this past weekend is any indication. I'm hoping it was just new season nerves. Seems like there's a lot of that going around. Everton over United... who'd have thunk it!

IMHO it should either be Arsenal (if they are even interested) or stay put at Fulham and get quality playing time. Otherwise, it would have to be an exit from the EPL I'm afraid since MU, MC, CH could care less.

I don't know...the rumors seem to be Dempsey to Liverpool. They surely don't look like a Champions League quality team just yet. Certainly not this past weekend.

Looks like controversy already - Clint Dempsey refusing to play for Fulham demanding trade to UCL team - hope he and his agent know what they are doing

Welcome back fans! First on my menu this morning will be Fulham/Norwich City. Will check in on Arsenal from time to time, but want to see Dempsey in FFC kit until he moves - if he moves
