emoticon Absolutely! They have sidewalk sales, face painters and live music ...lots going on for that celebration. Occasionaly they will have a stilt Walker and/or a juggler. I'm sure there's lots more... it's just not coming to my mind at the moment. I believe they had that celebration this past weekend but I was so busy I missed it.

Well, we didn't get to Maplewoodstock as I wanted, oh well. Still haven't made it there after learning about it last year.

I've been to Lambertville a few times and have read about Frenchtown but we haven't made it there yet. Is it a good place to go for Bastille Day? emoticon

I live only 20 minutes North of Lambertville, in Frenchtown; (smaller than Lambertville).
I spent my weekend running many errands; got lots accomplished, but not too much fun was had. Maybe next weekend. :)

That all sounds good, too! We haven't been to the county fair in years, maybe we should do it just for the heck of it. I love the Delaware River area but don't really know anyplace to go except Lambertville, which is more than an hour away from us.

We're about 45 minutes from the closest beach so we don't go too often, either.

I think we're going to stay close to home this weekend, but we'll see...

I miss the beach very much. I'm over here in Hunterdon County, a good solid hour or more to a great NJ Beach. emoticon Haven't been in years! emoticon
I also can't tolerate the heat any longer. emoticon I deal with Hashimoto's Thyroiditis - my body can't regulate temperature extremes. emoticon
If I lived closer, I would be at the beach in the evenings to get the great ocean breezes!
Such is my life.
Being so close to the Delaware River, I cross the bridge to PA and head over to Peddler's Village in Lahaska, PA from time to time. I enjoy walking and peddling around there.
Not too much happens out here in farm country to attend.
I usually go one day in the first week of August to the Sussex County Fair (NJ's Largest)...also takes over an hour to get to. Fun & lots going on there...a 10 day Fair. emoticon emoticon emoticon emoticon emoticon

Well, we had a day trip this past Sunday and did things Jersey style. We walked the boardwalk at Asbury Park and grabbed a hot dog at the Silverball Museum (arcade museum) then headed about 10 minutes out of town to the Kane Brewery in Ocean, then went for a shared pastrami sandwich at Harold's New York Deli in Edison. Boy, were my husband and son thrilled with that place. It was their first time there (my 2nd) and they walked out happy!

Need to plan more NJ things. I think another weekend we'll head out to Sandy Hook and go to the beach there.

What's happening with all the Jersey people? Can anyone recommend anything fun to see/do this summer on the weekends? Know of any festivals or activities?

I want to plan a day to go to the Kane brewery - has anyone been? Anything else nice to see around there? My sister was just at the Rock, Ribs and Ridges festival and had a great time.

Hah, good one! I didn't even order thin mints as my son isn't a fan of mint (I know, but who doesn't like thin mints???) and these are meant for him. As long as they stay in the cabinet out of sight I'm okay.

How about this spring weather today, huh? I think I'm feeling optimistic that there may be no more snow storms. But I don't want to jinx it.

@SPIEGY , I happen to be my daughter's Girl Scout Troop's Cookie Mom. I used to order at least 5 boxes just for myself! Granted, I'd keep them in the freezer for several months, (I just LOVE those Thin Mints frozen, MMMmmmmm.) sorry, got distracted. LOL !!

What I was saying was that I would eat all 5 boxes over time. Not anymore. Now I bought those 5 boxes for donation. It felt good. emoticon emoticon

Well, there are now 2 packages of girl scout cookies in the closet and the goal is to keep them in there until my son gets home from college! Then they are all his!

Wow! You've done amazingly well!! And you just reminded me that I didn't get my girl scout cookies from my great-niece yet! Hmmm... there will be a reckoning, says I.

emoticon How's everyone today? It's Tuesday, I had somewhat of a busy day. Tonight I'm helping my 14 year old daughter bake cookies for a Girl Scout event tomorrow evening. Such a temptation, but I resist. I'm on a serious track to reach my goal weight, and then maintain it. 85 down ~ 25 pounds to go! emoticon

Hi There
Just checking in. What a day it has been. My throat was so bad, I did not even recognize my own voice. So unfortunately, no gym today.
Trying to keep up with my water challenge. Even though I had many cups of tea flavored with lemon and honey...I don't count those. I still have a few hours left to squeeze in another bottle of water.
I hope to feel better by tomorrow...but have feeling its going to be 'sicky' weekend for me.
emoticon

Hope you all have a Sparkling weekend

Snow snow snow!! I'm so tired of it! We had 20 inches in Wayne last week and we lost our power from Wed. night until Sunday morning. Three trees came down at the top of our dead in and blocked everyone in until Friday afternoon - it was crazy. SO many trees were down in town that it looked like it did after Hurricane Sandy.

I saw NJJazz's comments in the 2017 chat about how difficult it was as a team leader to keep people inspired, especially when there's not a lot of activity on a team and I definitely understand that!. I became the leader of another team (5:2 Intermittent Fast Team) and there are literally 3 other active people. It's nice that everyone seems to check in a couple of times of week, but if you lose just one person (and one has definitely slowed down in her activity) it really makes a difference. At one point last year the team leader posted she was stepping away from SP, then the person who stepped in as leader just completely stopped being active, so I was just posting by myself on team chat just to keep myself going! Then one other person joined in, and the last few months two more people became active. So now I'm a leader!

I figure I"m going to continue to be on SP for a long while (at least a year until my goal) so I hope to continue to have people to chat with! emoticon

Good Morning Jerseyites
Getting a lot of snow this morning (Tues - 3/13)
emoticon
The weather man predicted up to 3 inches for our area...but I think it is going to be a little more.
If I don't get to hit the gym today...I do have a stationary bike at home.

What ever you do today...take care and be safe.

Hi There
(I posted this on the 2017 Chat....but thought it would be a good idea to start on new Chat for 2018)
I have also been MIA for a while. When I was working, it was easy to quickly log on to SP and give an update. Since I retired...I keep busy in other ways, and unfortunately have disappeared from checking in with my groups and friends (Bad me).
I recently got a notification of a Water Challenge from a friend...and it was so nice hearing from her and I decided to jump on board.
I don't know how active I will be, but I will try harder. The support you receive from members of Sparkpeople make it worth while. We can always use a boost in your life.
I'm active at my gym and I'm there Monday thru Friday and my Church keeps me busy on the weekends. I hope to squeeze a little more time with Sparkpeople.
Take care and be well.
