Ok so scale is stuck at 144 - but I got in a good walk today - and will be cutting my lawn - so thats some good physical exerccise. Eating better too.

closet cleaning is on my list too. I have 3 bedrooms and every closet is too full. Some stuff is just too old and I wont wear it so it should go.

Im sticking to eating properly. So proud of myself................. Im one solid week of it - and down 3 pounds. i keep telling myself it really is the same old formula. eat right - move more and drink water.

have a fun weekend. Im going to see dion tonight in Atlantic city with some friends

I've been cleaning out closets (still). A couple of my shirts slide off my shoulders, so they're being donated. I tried on my jeans, and they are loose and very comfortable - yay! The weather here in northern NJ has been quite fickle - very cold (32) to balmy (70). Never know to wear capris or jeans!!

doing pretty good in the gym. Down 2 big pounds.............. so what did I do today. Ate some chips to reward myself. Need to come up with a better reward than food.

Did get a good workout out - and chores done around the house on this

kicked off a 30 day challenge today....................... same old elements - drinking water - eating lower carb and higher protein - and a beginner workout with weights. So funny that its always the same old elements that get us to our goal. No magic pill - no starvation - and no new gadget.

Im writing my daily journey in an online journal. - 125 pounds...............it may be a really long journal.......

in a good place right now with my fitness quest. Gota n invitation to a wedding for mid June - Id love to be at goal by then.

spent 5 fun days in Fla. It was nice and warm.

havent stepped on the scale yet - but know Im looking and feeling pudgy - time to get back to a healthy routine. Dont like all the body fat.

darn scale hovering right around the 145 level.................... and staying there. Im doing better with eating so expect to see it start oving down a bit. I tried on a few dresses yesterday - and boy I didnt like how any fit - Im getting frumpy. Not liking that at all.

Looks like Fla is going to get slammed in this storm..................... prayers for them

i keep putting off stopping eating at night. Its the thing that makes the difference for me.

Being a bit lazy and not keeping on much of a schedule. did order a dress that Id like to wear for new ears. Will require a little trimming so thats incentive.

I have been dealing with muscle pain in my left hip for about two months. Not sure what caused it at first. When I went for my physical, the doctor gave me a pain prescription which helped some, but the pain never went completely away.

Then this week I did a 45 minute exercise video, which caused the pain to come back big time. Think I over did it with the kicks. Need to find out what is going on. Please don't tell me arthritis. I'm to young for that mess. emoticon And I'm not accepting it, either,

Couldn't take the debate for long myself, sicking. It's a shame seeing adults ask like children.Let's talk about something that matters.

emoticon Hi everyone!

I was up and cooking early this morning, mostly for DH. I've been encouraging him to bring his meal with him to work. He works in NYC, and it's just too expensive to always eat out there. So made kielbasa, mac and cheese, and mixed vegetables for him to take to work. He was so appreciative! I need to forage in the freezer for something for tomorrow!

Being home all the time now, I am either VERY hungry or just NOT. Either or. I know it's important to eat within my ranges, but a lot of days I never make it even to the lower numbers, and yet, feel satisfied, not hungry. There was one day when I hit all of my upper ranges, but that's a rarity. Any tips for help here??

Lasted about 30 minutes on debate night...the choices make me sick!

Back to exercise after a 3-week hiatus due to cold/flu. Also beginning to track food for a bit again. I really need to set down these habits. I've been stuck at this weight for too long and will not give up until I see my initial goal of 130.

New quasi-temporary position has me behind a desk much more. I brought a pair of sneakers to get in a walk at lunch and will steal those 1-minute lunges and squats throughout the day.

last day of summer.............................. didnt find my bikini body all summer - UGH

easing back to the gym - started with cardio. Nextw eek will kick back into the weights and yoga classes

Using my slow cooker and it does help me eat better.

Time to clean out the garden -[ season is over - and everything is gertting yellow. Not my favorite timeo f year in the garden - but it does need to be cleared out and made ready for spring.

Had a good day yesterday! Lots of walking!! Local bagel place for breakfast, then walked to local bookstore. Drove over to a local arts and crafts show, but then walked around for a good hour or more; got a few Christmas presents! Then drove over to local library branch, who was having a book sale and picked up another book! A lovely day!!

Yep. The body knows when you're not doing what you should. I too have been having problems not eating at the wrong times, and eating the wrong things.

Have gained 5 lbs in the 3 weeks since the Summer 5% Challenge ended. The Fun 5% starts next Saturday and I want to loose that by then. Focus. emoticon

Nice Autumn day. Work, then laundry night (at my son's house) so not sure if I will get an exercise in today. For my Bible Class, must memorize the 39 books of the Old Testament for Thursday's class. Glad to say, I have most of them. Just those 12 minor prophets have to work on.

hot day...................................... didnt walk but I did cut the front lawn and back lawn and that took almost an hour.

wish I could learn to take a walk when I want to eat.................... its all about eating for me.

Hello, I understand about eating wrong. I'm up about 6lbs more than I want to be. I definitely can not have snacks in my house, and need to work on not eating after 9 o'clock.

Did a 75 minute walk in the park today. Hot, but beautiful. I love walking in the park. Still don't have a computer at home, Hopefully, will be my Christmas present to myself this year. We'll see.

Started Basic Bible Knowledge class this week at my church's Bible Training Center. It's been a few years since I have taken any classes, excited about the new journey.

frustrating........ but the scale keeps moving up. I know its because Im eating wrong - and exercising a bit less.
Now that fall is coming - going to get out on the bike more - and try to walk once every day. In addition to imporving my eating - keeping active is good. Ivve gotten a bit lazy.

Lots of work to do to clean up the garden. Veges are dong and everything needs to be pulled out. Going to keep a small inside herb container garden in the kitchen.


The heat and hunidity is back - but not staying long.

Had a much needed vacation last week. Of course the scale went up but back to business this week.

an overcast little bit drizzly labor Day on the Jersey shore. I dont plan on doing much today at all. Got home late from a wonderful wedding in downtown Phil at a cultural center. Philly is a pretty city. Danced and had alot of fun - so today is going to be a real rest day. May sort through summer clothes and get that donation pile going.

I dont think about weight that much either................ but I do use it as some kind of gauge. Im much more interested in keeping fit - looking trim - and not having alot of jiggly body fat.
Above all - staying healthy.


If I could learn to be happy with some healthy snacks - I think Id be ok. Im a snacker.

Someone just gave me a hydrator - going to experiment.

I really don't think about weight anymore. (at my age, I really don't care how chic I look.)

What I do care about is being limber and I have daily exercises I'm SUPPOSED to do daily ---- mostly for a bad back, -----but also it just makes me feel just plain feel better. Also, in my basement there is a recumbent bike and I like to get on it, if only for a few minutes when the washer is filling or spinning. Those few minutes do make a difference.

At the moment, I am the care giver for my husband and grown daughter, so keeping fit is as important to us as to me.

About the weather. as much as I HATE the heat, at least there aren't icy/snowy roads or sidewalks!!!!

thinking alot is a good thing ....... and dyour words are right.

I cannot starve myself to lose .weight. It only comes right back on anyway I just came home from a fun weekend away........................looked at myself a few times in the large full length hotel mirrior........................ Im just a bit thicker than I want to be. Wont every be thin again - but Im kinda roundish and pudgy in all the wrong places. So - I can tone and trim off some of this fat.......... thats my goal. And that is all about learning to eat smarter and better.

Loaded up on some protein and fresh veges. I can do this.

I think when we really cut back on the amount of food we eat, our bodies really do think that we are in starvation mode, and they hold on to every gram of fat we have, our metabolism slows way down, and we get stuck on the scale. I think that's why SP recommends for us to eat more when we are exercising on a regular basis. I also think that it benefits our weight loss if we eat a variety of foods, which is so easy to do this time of year! Yeah...I think a lot!

I've been riding my bike most mornings for 30 minutes. Finally went back to the gym the other day (sore). I'm scheduled to meet with the trainer today. Scale is STUCK! I know it's all about the food. I've been feeling a bitter over the thought of starving myself to loose weight. I'm sure I'm being dramatic but that's how it seems. Like Jazz I must starve to loose 1-lb but look at a piece of bread and I'm up 3-lbs.

It's gotten hot and humid here again. However, when I went to check the mail this morning, there were acorns on the ground already!! Isn't that kinda early for that to be happening?

Took clothes to our local food pantry this morning.

Made overnight oats last night and had them for breakfast today. Very yummy!!

Made eggplant parmesan stacks for dinner tonight. Again - yummy!!

loving the cooler nights............. sleep so much better with windows open > A/C is officially off.

That jelly sounds terrific...... nice to make it so you can control sugar content. Going to do some canning this fall too.

I made peach jam yesterday! I got 2 batches done. The first batch was 3 pint jars, and the second batch was 6 half pint jars. I'm glad I did it yesterday, since it was a cool day. Now the only other thing I'm planning on doing is making hot pepper jelly, which is amazing served over cream cheese and served with crackers as an appetizer. It also makes nice gifts! I might try making apple butter too. Not sure about that though.

Saturday DH and I went out to yard sales, garage sales, flea markets, and veggie stands. We left the house around 8:15 am and got back around 5:30. We started in Montclair, and went through Montclair, Clifton, Glen Ridge, Bogota, Teaneck, Ridgefield Park, Pequannock, up Rt23 to Rt 15 to Sparta, Lafayette Village, and places in between. It was a fun day!!

Sunday I went out for breakfast with a dear friend, then we went to Michael's. I came home, and rested for about 30 minutes, then DH and I went grocery shopping. Whew!

Today I slept in. I also started a new "thing": 2 oz. of plain pomagranite juice, 1 tbsp. of apple cider vinegar, and 8 oz. of water all mixed up together. Have 2 times a day before, during or after a meal. It's supposed to help with digestion. Going to have a nice large salad with diced chicken for dinner!

JAZZ congrats on the 3 pounds lost !

I have the healthy breakfast down pat.

Yesterday's early snack was cottage cheese and melon.

Lunch was no bread, some meat & cheese, diet drink.

My worst time is right before dinner when I am hungry and tend to pick and then after dinner
when I look for something sweet. emoticon I really hope to focus on that this week.

Im back to my regular breakfast- peanut butter on a light roll or toast - and a cup of coffee. Then a smoothie for lunch - and one for about 3pm snack. A dinner with protein lots of veges and usually a baked sweet potato. I save a little bit of smoothie for an evenig snack around 8. Lots of water all day.

Scale has dropped 3 pounds............... but it would take nothing to pop it back up. Seems like such a chore to lose a pound - and I can blink and gain 3 pounds.

Ive been back to the gym - and boy did I miss it. Going to take a little while to get back up to where I was....... Ive been away from it for one whole month.

Onward........................ we can do this.

I feel as if I spent the entire summer in the house !!


LIVEDAILY, I was up at 3:30 but I did get 7 hours in. I think being inside and closed up for too long affects my sleep.

It's 2:00 am - I've been up for an hour already *sigh* Just woke up wide awake for no reason. I'll probably fall back to sleep around 4 or 5, and then DH wonders why I sleep till 11...

Deb- the majority of my exercising is already done indoors. I have a recumbent bike that I ride, and I do ST using SP demos, or dvds that I have. I won't walk outside until it cools off and the humidity drops considerably.

Yesterday I think I ate EIGHT helpings of fruits and veggies - so good!! Tomorrow I'm planning on getting some peaches and tomatoes at the farmer's market.

So sad to see summer is winding down.

Had a lovely weekend in Ocean Grove with my church's women's group. Now i'm working like crazy making up for taking time off!

i am mortified at the number on the scale...i have got to get on a better track! Of course this heat & humidity pretty much makes me say....ugh! nope, not today....yuck! So what gets you guys up and motivated on sticky days?

Ccame home from vacation 2 pounds lighter.................. rode my bike to the gym - and back. Since I had the kids for 3 weeks -[ havent been to the gym in all tht time. So all total - I was gone an entire month from working out. Im ready to get back to it......... but it sure was hot riding 5 miles each way this morning.

This high heat and humidity have really zapped my energy lately. That, plus a slow recovery from that virus I had. Lots of naps in the afternoons the last 2 weeks. The thunderstorm we had late last night woke me up out of a sound sleep!

housecleaning and getting ready for a week in Fla. Lawn cut - inside cleaning almost done and now to pack. Visting with some friends and bouncing around a few places in fla so it will be a fun trip.

rash is getting beter. Dr gave me a cortisone shot - and some cream. Never gave me a clear diagnosis............ but its better.

Had my sisteers 13 year old twins with me for 3 weeks................ took them home to Pittsburgh on monday - and now its time to get my house back to normal.
I loved having them with me - but it tired me out for sure.

Weight didnt change much - and I didnt get to the gym most of the time they were here - so Imn leaving for Fla for a week - and then when I get home - I will try to get back to some kind of normal life.

Enjoy - going to be a few really hot days here.

Caught a virus end of last week that really knocked me for a loop. High fever, nausea, general malaise. Got all caught up on sleep for a while, and lost 5 pounds, but wouldn't advise doing it that way! Although, it's given me food for thought on the whole intermittent fasting thing. Finally felt well enough to go out for a bit yesterday, but just for a couple of hours.

Jazz, I had rough itchy skin on my face and my dermatologist said I had dermatitis caused by an overgrowth of yeast on my face. Ick. He gave me 2 creams to use, and it's just about back to normal, thank goodness. Please do go to your dermatologist!

The sauce turned out SO good! I used Premio Sweet Italian sausage, and browned that in a skillet really well, then cut each link into 3 sections, then added it to the sauce pot. Chopped up 2 large onions, 5 cloves of garlic, and about 1 cup of shredded carrot and sautéed that in the leftover grease of the sausages. Added that to the sauce pot. Then browned ground beef, and mashed it really good with a potato masher. Seasoned it with salt, pepper, oregano, garlic powder, and onion powder. Drained that, then added it to the sauce pot. Added 1 can no salt diced tomatoes, 1 jar Colonia pasta sauce, and 1 jar Prego sauce and let it all simmer for about an hour. Yum!!

August 1st is here!! It's cooler than usual 74 degrees, but I bet it's muggy! We had much needed rain yesterday! There's rain all around us and we have a 40% chance of rain today and tomorrow. Maybe I'll make sauce for pasta today for tomorrow.

Hi everyone!

I'm home from Wildwood --- had an AWESOME time! A spontaneous pln worked out to a little family reunion of cousins! Some i hadn't seen in almost 50 years! Made me feel so happy to reconnect with everyone!

I walked for MILES for those 3 days too! But i also ate --- a lot!

And thisweekend i'm in Ocean Grove for my church's women's group retreat...so more walking...but this time i think i can make better food choices!

wow that was certainly some storm yesterday. Trees down - people without power and a little floodiing in the streets.

well I had a wonderful sunday birthday.......................... now to figure out how to be 63 years old. Going to make the best of it - but its sounding very senior to me. LOL

lots of wonderful things coming out of the garden almost every day and Im trying new healthy recipes with them. Loving it - and still no real changes on the scale - but Ive been eating some treats with having the kids here. They are here for another 2 weeks - so hoping not to gain anything. HOlding steady at 144 pounds.

have my 13 year otwn twin neice and nephew staying with me for 3 weeks. Lots of fun and day trips....................... not much time for the computer.

I forgot what having kids in the house on a regular basis was like. Busy - busy.

Ok so - th garden is booming - and Im picking fresh stuff almost very day. Enjoying trying so many new recipes - and they are healthy.

saw 142 on the scale for the first time in a long time................. now to get under that 140 mark. Headed to Fla Aug 11 - so thats my goal.

Hi to all!

Been so busy and happy to say some stuff was actual social things --- so there is proof i do have a life! LOL!

Went to see a GREAT David Bowie tribute band called STARMAN this past weekend...check them out if you can! i am a HUGE fan of Bowie --- was soooo sad when he passed.

FINALLY hit the shore on Tuesday! Beautiful day! Was in Ocean Grove, quick meeting with some of my church's women's ministry about our upcoming retreat ---- and then i walked a LOT and of course spent some time on the beach!

Still didn't make a dr appt so postponed dietician appt for now.

Heading to Wildwood from Tuesday to Thursday...taking my niece & nephew. Will be a bit of a family reunion as there will be some cousins down there that i haven't seen in over 40 years! Very excited!

Keep cool this weekend - it's gonna be bad!

Am thinking about doing crab cakes, spinach and mixed veggies for dinner, and taking ground meat and Italian sausage out for sauce tomorrow. It's supposed to rain tomorrow.

It WAS 92 earlier, but now it's 79. We missed a storm front; all we got was light rain. There's still storms in the area though so stay safe!

I took advantage of Amazon Prime Day to order a new bathroom scale for me! It's the Eat Smart Precision Plus Digital Bathroom Scale, and I really like it so far! It arrived on Friday, and I set it up and promptly weighed myself, even though I had already eaten breakfast AND had my clothes on. Not the best time of day, but I was curious, and sure enough, I saw the same weight that my doctor has seen the past 2 visits. This morning, however, I woke up, went to the bathroom, then weighed myself in my all together, and what a difference it made!! On to better tracking now!!
