I'm trying to think of a way to encourage more participation in our team as part of the April challenge, like maybe encouraging a NJ Spark member to contribute to the daily chat by posting on their page, or a blog they wrote, or on their daily wall post...something!

I'm thinking anyone who does post something somewhere occasionally ...could seem like harassment though...can't hurt to ask?

Not sure about the SP video exercises...I have a DVD from Spark, tried a few workouts and I might be the most uncoordinated exerciser ever...

thinking about some April challenge elements;

Increase walking
Use SP food tracker to learn what you are REALLY eating
do one SP exercise video 3 times per week.


any other ideas?????

headed out now for my daily walk - going to walk to the gym - workout - and then walk home. Thats about 4 miles total walking the long way.


scale moved back up------- but Ive been having cereal as a late night snack - and thats about all it takes to do it.............


Craving sweet ----------- happy lent is nearly over. Hoping to stay on course and see 130 by the end of April .................. right now at 136 emoticon

With all the walking and carrying today I easily got a mile in, and low carb lunch was also within challenge limits, so I guess it's a win for Sunday, day 29!

Hello all. Sorry I've been AWOL for a few days. Had some friends visiting for the weekend. Sadly my healthful eating plan went out the window for the weekend also. I did quite a bit of walking but not nearly enough to offset the drinking and dining. :(

So its a thumbs down on the challenge for the past couple of days.

busted my butt tonight after the recumbent bicycling this morning, bowling tonight, then a neighborhood walk in the dark and cold after bowling for 25 minutes/1.75 miles...winner, winner, chicken dinner!

rainy day - and I have school this morning.................. will have to save the walk for another day - or get some walking done in the gym later tonight.

Scale is also jumping around but staying on the lower side of normal for me.

this whole weight / fat / health management thing is a real challenge. :) :) :)

NJJAZZ, I used to prefer walking and bicycling without music, but lately it has been sustaining me, so I guess I need to keep it going!

I worry about exercising in a group though with music...doesn't seem right.

I have a neighbor that wants to walk with me but I don't think she can handle the 4 mph pace I walk and the music I listen to...I think I'm more of a solitary walker for the most part, though I do like the group dynamic...what to do?

Great to hear you are able to do something Diane!

I didn't get my walk in, but rode the basement bicycle 7.7 miles in 30 minutes, and carbs way down so I hope I qualify for a win today!

I can actually say with certainty - that having the team support here helps me.

Scale was kind - Im down a solid 4 pounds................
I did my food shopping this week - staying away from processed stuff for the most part.
Also went back to smoothies ---------------- not all that low on carbs to use frozen fruit in them - but better than most snacks I tend to reach for.

Ok so ----------------- Im thinking about April.................. our challenge
and Im thinking about keeping what we are doing for March - and adding to it.


And Im thinking about a local walking group
And I thinking about Gerrys music walking idea
And Im thinking about ----all the free courses at different places around to learn more about nutrition and health.
And Im thinking about maybe getting some of us together to do a volunteer day at a community garden ( burn some calories for a cause)?
And I thinking about stopping thinking for a little while.

A little set back for me. I seem to have done something to my knee. Don't recall doing anything to injure it but it is swollen and sore. The doctor sent me to have an ultrasound earlier today thinking perhaps it was a blood clot from the long plane flight. Thankfully the ultrasound didn't show any clots. I'm home now with my leg elevated and on ice. Hopeful that it will be better tomorrow. If not, its back to the doctor.

So I did not get any walking in today. Stayed low on carbs and still committed!

Ok so Ive been doing great with walking - and so =so with eating.
Like it or not - the scale is ALL about eating............................... and I know it.
I cannot seem to get away from feeling a little hungry on low carbs.........
I went back to smoothies - they work for me mid day.

The un is shining - the ocean is calling - Im bundling up and heading out for my 4 mile walk.

I would have to rate day 22 an "almost" success...over 6,000 steps, rode the stationary bike on a hard program for 7.5 miles/30 minutes, but never really walked that mile.

Returned home yesterday. Not the best challenge day. Only exercise I got was walking the airports but that probably added up to a lot of steps. And not the best food choices. I'm calling it a thumbs down day.

Today started out much better.

I'm in for an April challenge. Somthing that motivates me to move more. Thankfully we should be able to get outside consistently soon.

well after multiple starts and stops this month with snow and the flu --- Im on track again. Got a great walk and workout in yesterday and kept carbs very low.

Now to do that again for 10 more days and make it a habit for another month after that.


OK so are we doing an April challenge? I can change things up a bit. I dont think we have to worry about snow in April and there are lots of outside yard work kinds of activities to keep moving...................... garden time ???? emoticon emoticon

yard cleanup? getting the lawn furniture out and clean? power washing.........
so many things to do.......................

Even if it is just four of us I'm enjoying the company and am definitely motivated by you all. Thanks for that.

I got my walking in today and then some!! Probably walked for 2 hours - unfortunately it was in my dress shoes trailing my wheeled laptop case behind me. What started out as a "10 minute walk" to the local pub for a farewell pint with work colleagues ended up a 2 hour jaunt around the city. I've blisters on my one foot and my neck is aching from the strain of pulling that bag about, but am happy to have gotten the exercise in!

Good on the low carb front also.

Headed home in the morning. Even though it is spring here and snowing there I will be happy to head home!

going to get my walk in early today --------------------- doing much better with eating ( OK 2 days into much better). Guess we will burn some calories with more snow today.

did some walking today -============ and some yard cleanup. Ate on plan - and finally over the cold and ready to get back to the challenge full focus.

Im going to think about an April challenge to keep us going............. any takers besides the 4 of us?

got my 2 miles in today, low carb lunch, motivated...day 19 in the books.

Made corned beef and cabbage for dinner...ate pretty intelligently!

late night and a business dinner. really tired and heading to bed.
I made the best choices I could.
no chance to walk - inside or out.
just a few ticks high on calories and carbs also - so no plus for me on the challenge chart for today.
I'll give myself a thumbs up for motivation still. overall I feel good about the day.

Nice consistent work SUMMER33!

Sometimes the weight reduction benefits take a break...seems like when you work the hardest! I'm in the same boat this week.

Since I've got my walking back on track, I see it's harder to get my heart rate over 100 now...hitting around 94-98. This equals less calorie burn unfortunately. When I started back walking it was running around 106-110.

have gone on treadmill 3 .50 miles a day 3 days a week have lost only 2 lbs all month ,but feel good and had some brews for st paddy,s day:)

strange combination of foods today but all good and under my carb goal

did a bit of the walking routine in my hotel room. still didn't make it to the end but got a lot further this time. Also took a quick 10 min walk outside. Didn't wander far - it was getting dark.

And remain strongly committed.
