Did you know you can stay in your calorie range and still be full? Im eating pretty well even being on vacation ------------ but I do have an efficiency unit so can eat 2 meals a day in.

Now to concentrate on changing the carb ration when I get home................ hmmmm

Hi NJJazz,
When I go to Lancaster, PA I like to stay at the Red Caboose in one of the cabooses. We go to the Lancaster market and pick up fresh foods to prepare in the caboose kitchen and I think it is much nicer than eating out all the time.
On trips to Florida I would skip the tourist shops and go to the local grocery stores. You can often find the same local jelly and preserves at a more reasonable price and lots of good local produce to eat. We look for hotels, like Microtel, that have cooking facilities in th hotel rooms.

My eating is much better under control.................... Im definitely eating healthier - but maybe not yet in all the right portions - and carbs/protein/fat/fiber ratios. Will get to that soon.

Working out has become an almost way of life........ Im starting to see real body changes. Muscles are developing in new places................ Lots of flab all over still - but little by little - things will change.

Slow and steady is the game plan....... especially at age 61. emoticon

Hi NJJazz, I've been cooking from scratch since I had a pre-diabetic diagnosis back in February and am enjoying trying new recipes. I now make my own iced tea and croutons and am experimenting with making pizza from scratch. Healthy and fun!

its a good thing to look at your nutrition report on here if you use the sparktool to track your calories. Im not getting enough protein - and Ive changed up my diet a little to increase protein.

Lets see what happens.

I am a snacker...................... found that I can eat a cup of raw carrot chips ( they come in a bag that way from the supermarket) and a small individual cup of hummus........... Shoprite has them and they are 90 calories each.

This snack satisfies me - is good on nutrition - adds to my fiber - is something to crunch and is very low calories.

Im happy and down 2 pounds............

I just stumbled on this

Did you know that eating 1.5 oz of fresh grapes as opposed to 1.5 oz of raisins will cut 98 calories from your total intake?

I love raisins but will now buy more grapes!!!!!

Did you know that doing word puzzles, like crosswords or word searches keeps your mind alert and your hands snack-free....

Carrots are my go to crunchy thing!

Did you know you can eat sweet potato raw?? Peel it and slice it semi-thin. It makes a lovely addition to a fresh vegetable platter!

Did you know that staying on an eating plan means having a few GO TO foods;
Ok so cucumbers are crunchy - can be dipped in something healthy like hummus - and an entire medium cucumber has only 46 calories with very low - but healthy carbs.

I have to crunch to feel like Im really eating something.............. going to see if adding some crunch-able - smart foods help me stay on course with my eating plan for Nov.

2,000 steps

Generally speaking you can count on 2,000 steps will equal one mile. But, depending upon your length of stride it might take 2,500 steps to equal 1 mile. 9 holes of golf (no cart but walking) equals about 8,000 steps. Most people will get about 1,200 steps in about 10 minutes.

Some pretty good information................... now go out and get walking emoticon
