did some emotional eating yesterday............ a WHOLE bag of jalepeno chips Granted it wasnt a huge bag - but I did eat the whole thing. Trying to watch those emotional targets. Not easy.


Will be doing some bike riding and working out with my daughter today. Looking forward to spending the time together.

well weighed in now that Im home from florida and I didnt gain any weight. Did lots of walking and swimming - and made some careful food choices when eating out. It was a great vacation and going again in Aug.

Today I had 8 miles on schedule for marathon training. I also had a sinus headache, and it was SO gross outside. I could have postponed and been lazy, but I ran those 8 miles. In my living room. No treadmill. Just me, my taped shows, and a lot of running in place.
Where there's a will, there's a way!

didnt get to the festival................... lostr complete track of time playing in the garden - and painting some yard sale finds. Its amazing what a change you can make in something with a little paint.


Happy its been raining because its a good start for the seeds I planted - and even the plants.

think Im going to paint a few more things to put in the garden ---- Im loving rust-o-leum to give things a new look and the garden is really starting to look nice.

May take a ride north to the Hungarian festival in New Brunswick - its an annual event and I love the food..................... will do alot of walking there too. Not sure about that yet.

Tonight was week one of the Summer Series in Wall, a 5K every week with a points system. Two years ago I got second overall because I went every week lol. I thought it went badly until I came home and checked my times. I took one minute plus a few seconds off of my best time two years ago. SO excited to see that!

gardening has taken the place of formal working out these last 2 days.....hard work and my muscles feel it so guess I used some new ones.

Noticed today - when I put on a sundress.................. backfat. a new challenge...............
spaghetti straps..................... and there was some pudge hanging over on my back.
Another gift from god to add to the challenge. LOL

a weekend away ------------------ belly bloated right back up - but at least I can still see the fat going down.


OK so - back on track... I didnt really cheat alot this weekend - I was more reasonable than usual............... had a few drinks - tasted a choco dessert - but didnt eat the whole thing............. I was pretty good all things considered.


Still have a long way to go until I get back that '''''leaner'''' look............. and thats what Im going for.

the scale is staying down - the belly is a little flatter - and I feel really great.


Change is good - sticking with the change brings some kind of results - and the formula is simple. Move more - eat less and smarter - and stick to it.

thought about my change for the next 30 days....................... Im going to add a short jog to my weekly schedule................ going to get out and push myself a little to jog.

Im currently walking around 20 miles per week - thats my goal and I hit it most weeks.
Im eating much much better ----------------- also have added smoothies into my routine and sometimes as a meal - or sometimes as a snack. Not starving myself at all. Just better food choices - even when I eat out.
Swinging that kettlebell at least 4 times per week.................... slow increases on number of reps and swings. I can now do sets of 100 swings..
get to the gym 5 times per week ( not doing too good on this one...........)
so now will add a short jog..............

The scale is hovering at 134 - and Ive lost fat and some inches. I can see and feel the change in my body. Its slow........... but its coming

Im seeing some real body changes - and thats giving me the will to keep on going. Less fat ------- just plain less flabby stuff. I was walking 20 miles per week and working out 3-4 times at te gym. Not killing myself....................................
.. but sticking to the plan.

Wore shorts yesterday and really saw the difference in my legs............... considerably less cellulite - so this simple thing of eating better - and working out and walking - WORKS.

emoticon THERE is no magic pill - or drink......................... same simple old stuff works

Ive always had a blender - but never used it much. My daughters bought me some kind of smoothie thing a few years ago for mothers day ----------------- never used it much.
My sister in law bought me a Ninja about a year ago - never used it much. Its bright red and matches my kitchen so I took it out and displayed it on a shelf. About a month ago I took it down and decided to use up some fresh fruit that was going to go to waste if not used. OK made my first smoothie.................. well - I liked it more than I thought I would.

OK so for about a month now I have been making one smoothie at least 5 days per week. I make enough to fill 2 good size cups. I use those 2 smoothies as a meal substitute some days - and other days - as my snacks. Using ingredients like yogurt - or almond milk - sometimes green tea - fresh or frozen fruit ------------- and WOW its all making a difference. Between my walking 20 miles per week ----------- AND swinging those kettlebells ( Im now doing 100 swing sets - and using the smoothies..................... Im seeing some startling differences I couldnt get before.......................... small changes but they are there - and hopefully will continue.

just my opinion - but its a whole lot less about accuracy - than getting out and doing it........
I just started walking - and now Im doing 3 miles almost every day ---- sometimes I do it twice and so its 6 miles...........( or about that) I walk to the gym which is one of the 3 mile trips.

Just do stuff ----------------- and find a free tool that give you an idea of about how much you are doing.......... and one that will make you feel accountable - like youre missing something if you dont do it. Wwho cares if its 6000 steps or 6400? Knowing that is not work $20 ------------- doing it consistently is worth a million.

You're right Jazz, I should just log my workouts on line, and I do. It just seems slightly more accurate using one of these tracking devices. I might "think" I ran 4 miles, when in actuality I only did 2 (LoL)!

Wow, that is a bummer.
If you're not 100% convinced the tracker route is right or affordable for you right now, a pedometer is probably a good stop gap. You can find basic pedometers for $10 or less - and no subscriptions needed (just the occasional new battery!)

Thanks for the info Carren. I just didn't want to spend the money, use it for a month, and that's it. When I was going to weight watchers, I bought the activity tracker they offered for $30, plus a $5 monthly fee, for what I don't know, I was doing all the work. But in any case, I stopped going to weight watchers, and unless I pay the exorbitant monthly fee for online access, the activity tracker is deemed useless. What a racket they got going.

Ive been fairly consistent for the first time in a long time. Walking about 20 miles per week - getting to strength training t the gym 3-4 times per week ..... and eating alot better.

Scale is about the same but the inches are coming off. Belly is now down 2 full inches - and I;ll take it.................... legs have less cottage cheese cellulite and Im getting some nice definition on my arms...............

I dont have an activity tracker and wont buy one. I use the fitness mileage tracker right here on SP for free...............

There are a lot of activity trackers on the market, with a wide range of prices and features. Take a look at the some of them online and see if any of them would work for you.

Also, watch for a sale - I got my activity tracker when they first came out, and it was $10 or $15 off. They may run another deal!

I'm thinking about getting the activity tracker, but the $60 price tag is a little too rich for my blood. Does anyone know where I might be able to get one for a little less money?

So I made it thru 5 whole days completely following an eating plan that was given to me by one of the personal trainers from my gym. I realize that to anyone reading this, it may not seem like such a big deal. But let me tell you, I've been on an downward, slippery slope with my eating, and the thought of giving up my ice cream, bagels, and pasta seemed almost impossible. Of course as I was going thru this perpetual course of self destruction, it felt pretty good. Not having to worry about accountability, no counting calories, sleeping in instead of getting up a little earlier to work out, etc...
And then it hit me. All this feel good sugar high wasn't all that it was cracked up to be. In reality I wasn't feeling good at all, and in fact, I truly felt like crap. I was sluggish, lazy, guilty, unable to fit in my clothes, yuck! I felt as if I really let myself down.
And although I'm not really sure when that moment of clarity came to me, I'm sure glad it did. Even just after 5 days, I wake up feeling, well, good actually, not sluggish and worn down. I feel like I want to go to the gym, or go for a run outside.
It just feels good. I hope I can continue this good feeling, and for now, I'm taking this one day at a time.

I bought the Spark Activity tracker. I wear it everyday. My goal right now is 6,000 steps a day which I don't always do.

I did make it to gym/or worked out on my own 3 times last week and this week.

I need to be more accountable. I find that works better for me but I sometimes let life and work get in the way. Then I get frustrated with myself.

I need to make more of those changes hat you were talking about NJJazz. My biggest obstacle is consistency.

I have a fitbit and I make sure I get to 10,000 steps a day. This can sometimes mean marching in front of the TV. For an hour. Whatever it takes!

Hoping you all decide to come visit and make a posting.


Im going to kick this off by sharing what I have learned.................. Im walking a minimum of 3 miles per day................ unless its pouring or I have all day plans - I get out there and walk. It was hard to commit to this at first -------------- and I had to drag myself to do it......I started walking around the block - and every few days I would add to the distance.......... my goal that I have here on SP is a minimum of 20 miles per week..............and who would have thunk??????? but Im doing it.

NOW? emoticon Its not big deal - I look forward to it........... and miss it when I dont do it. If you can push through the tough start to making a new habit -= good things happen.
Im toning my body --------------- getting to the gym at least 4 times per week - and eating better............ once I started to see good results from something as simple as walking - I kept going to improve on other areas.................. emoticon
