Injured my foot at my half on Sunday (#25!) so I rested all week, iced, used arnica gel. Today O did some step aerobics and it felt great to move again! I had to stop myself from going for a second DVD!

Change IS good!! Tried a new walking sneaker (Onitsuka Tiger which has been around for 65 years) and was able to increase my time. Thats a good thing : ) A friend suggested I try them for walking as they provide great foot support and control.
They do!!!!

The 90 day challenge is a great way to continue towards the goal of fitting into my clothes and having not to worry about wearing the same sak cloth all year. Thus; I am all for the new challenge. a day to continue weeding the flower garden until Im finished.................... had some surgery - a small cycst taken off my chest ------------------- so will wait one more day to swing the kettlebell ( I think).


Im changing.......................... eating better - getting some daily exercise - and I can see the change. Not so much on the scale - but my body is changing.


You can do this.............. start small.................... but continue the new habit -

Since I moved to the shore - I have changed -------------------- lots of exercise - eating much better and thats a real change for me. As a result - my body is changing............... how wonderful iis that?

I can see the diff - and went to a movie with a friend last night that I havent seen in quite some time ---------------- they noticed the change. Im trimmeer.

ALSO - learned how to take a "selfie - so took a before belly shot --------------- do that for yourself so that when you start to see differences - you have a comparison shot..........

Have you heard of the 2-day diet? Prevention Magazine calls it “Your easiest weight loss plan ever.”

It is based on US and British researchers who combined two weight-loss approaches: 1) part-time dieting, and 2) low-carb eating. It’s called the “2-day diet” and apparently it works. At least it did for 18 women and men who lost an average of 9.1 pounds and 7.5 pounds of body fat, reduced LDL (bad) cholesterol and lowered their blood sugar over just 6 weeks! They also reduced their insulin and inflammation levels. As a health coach, I know that these results can dramatically reduce a person’s risk of diabetes and other diseases.

Although I’m not a fan of dieting, this seems more like a way of eating. There is no calorie counting or skipping meals on this diet. It’s simple. For two days a week, you eat low-carb foods. You can choose any two days of the week, and they do not have to be back-to-back. On those two days, try to eat no more than 50g of carbohydrate. The other days you are free to eat whatever you want, as long as it is healthy.

If you want to try this weight loss plan, here is a quick list of foods to eat for two days a week:

Low-Carb Foods

Vegetables
Low-carb bread
Fruit
Dairy products
Eggs
Poultry
Fish
Aim for no more than 50g of carbohydrates on each of those two days, which is equivalent to about 15g of carbs at each meal plus 5g of carbs for a snack.


The rest of the week, you can enjoy regular eating patterns. However, rather than loading up on high-carb processed foods and pastries on the other five days, fill your plate with healthier carbs such as whole grains, fruit and non-starchy vegetables.

So the bottom line is…if you want to lose weight, reduce your risk of diabetes and certain cancers, and/or lower your risk of heart disease, you may want to skip the conventional dieting and try this eating plan. What have YOU got to lose?

I simply want less body fat - and to be toned............ Health is primary and of course I want to stay healthy ------------- but I have to be honest - I want to look good too. I want to be trim and toned.............. I want to be able to wear styles - I just cant now because of my thighs or my belly................ a little vanity here I guess.

Im 60 --------------- I dont want to look 20 - but I see no reason I have to look old or tired or frumpy. I like many of todays styles...........and want to be able to wear then if I want to.

Ok so - knees and ankles are sore from swinging that kettlebell........... but Im sticking with it and liking it alot. I feel stronger............ Im now swinging a 25 pound bell.

Did another sweep in the closet with summer clothes and got rid of quite a few things. Why I saved some things is so beyond me................... I wont get back into some stuff - and probably will never really ever wear other stuff.................... out it went.

rain - rain and more rain.......... today and some of tomorrow. So find something productive to do inside..............

If you are changing from winter clothes to summer clothes in your drawers and closets - make today the SORT day. make 4 piles........

its a keeper
this one gets donated
this one is garbage ( no one should wear it)
this is my maybe pile.

Put away the keeper pile ---------------- and get rid of the donation and garbage piles. Freecycle is a great way to donate................... you post to the site - leave a bag of stuff on your front porch and someone will come and get it.
Stash away the maybe pile - for a second look on another day

Small steps can equal big changes! For me, just being consistent in getting up early every morning - just getting myself out of bed helps me to get motivated to get to the gym or to exercise at home with a DVD. As soon as the alarm goes off, I must get out of bed to turn it off. And since I'm already up, I figure I should just get ready and go...after my cup of coffee, of course! If I do this consistently, I can log that I exercised at least 5 days/week and that makes me feel great! emoticon emoticon

small steps.....starting with 15 minutes on the treadmill every day or every other day and hoping to work up to an hour or better. starting with walking and hopefully going to a full on run at some point.

Baby steps....today I walked 20 minutes even though my goal was only 15. Yay me!

the nutrition tool takes some work.............................. but its a great way to touch base and do a reality check . I honestly like to use it on occasion to plan a few days meals so I can try to keep things in check............. i play around and use a combination of things emoticon so I can eat more than properly on at least a few days per week.

OK - thinking about some challenges going forward..................... learned how to take a selfie with my camera.................. so took a few body shots which will give me incentive . especially my big belly ----------- those are the before or start shots ---------------- going to love taking some progress shots and an after shot.

I had used the Nutrition Tool in the past, but found it too time consuming. But it is a great tool and does give you a good idea of how many calories you're eating! I have been just writing a nutrition note each day of everything I eat (and approximate amounts) - this helps me stay focused! Usually I eat really healthy Monday through Friday and go a bit off on the weekend. But I'm still losing weight (lost 2 lbs this past week!) so I'm feeling good about the program. Also, the encouragement I'm getting from my spark teams and the website is also motivating. Hope everyone is having a great weekend - looking forward to another great week! Excited to see Monday's challenge! emoticon emoticon

WEEKEND CHALLENGE log your food in the nutrition tool all weekend.

I think it shows you where those hidden calories come from - and no one should starve themselves ------------ but knowing helps you make some better decisions.

Todays challenge - post all your food on the spark people nutrition tool. What an unbelievable way to find out how much you really eat .


I went out with friends to lunch today ------------------------ when I got home I checked calories since Chili;s is online with their menu. Holy mackeral - wish I did it before I went - didnt eat alot - just a started but it was high in fat and calories................ will look before I go next time and chose better.


So I posted everything I ate - and Im over 2200 calories.................. did walk 3 miles earlier today.................... should have walked 10 LOL emoticon


Let me know how ya do posting to the nutrition tool . it will open your eyes

HUMP DAY - todays challenge is to pick one meal and make it lo or no carbs................ find things that fill you up without adding to your daily carb count.

For me its generally romaine lettuce - lots of crunch - makes me think Im eating and get full - with no carbs and not alot of calories either.

Been out of commission this past week - didn't do too well with eating healthy and exercising. But really enjoyed Easter dinner with family and friends - lots of delicious holiday foods and good company - truly thankful for all the blessings in my life!

Now ready to begin a new week - get back on track and stop making excuses! Back to the gym tomorrow morning before heading off to work!

took 2 nice long bike rides yesterday.......................... on my "thankful list" I took some time to think about friends and relationships. My trip to florida was to help a good friend move down there permanently. Going to miss that person tremendously - but know he is living his dream and will love life there much more than here.

Oh well ------------- another transition.......................

I was starting to feel really depressed earlier so I headed over to the gym and spent 25 minutes on the treadmill and 20 minutes with the weights. I feel so much better now.

Positive things that I did for the last week....
I walked to and from work two days last week, a total of 5.2 miles each day
I ran a 5K
I walked a LOT through Philly and had salad for dinner at the Hard Rock
yesterday I had a healthy breakfast
Today I will run 5K or so and then walk the dog

Just got in today from my Dad's house. Yesterday, instead of spending the day cleaning I asked my boyfriend to take me for a ride on Skyline Drive in North Jersey. He took me for the ride and we stopped at Shepherd's Lake and took a walk on the path part of the way around. I needed that break from the job hunting and taking care of my father's needs.
After the walk we took my dad out for his 93rd birthday and I let the waiter know it was his birthday. Dad always said to never let them know about his birthday but the waiters and waitresses came over with a fudge sundae and sang to him and he seemed really happy about it.

DAY 8 ------- Im headed to Fla so this may be my last post until April 18 ----------------- so todays challenge is for each of you to come here once per day - and post one positive thing you did for the day. I think reading everyone elses positive accomplishments will be incentive to find one of your own.

Im driving down -helping a friend move - and then flying home................ looking forward to warm and sunny weather although I will probably be inside unpacking boxes most of the time .

Also working on #5. It's only water from here on out (except for my tea in the morning). Quit drinking soda 2 weeks ago and I don't miss it at all! And this is me - who used to be addicted to diet coke!
