I like Holmdel Park, though we have not been in a while. They have a good nature trail.

I like Watchung a lot. Although I almost stepped on a snake in my travels. Luckily it had a dead chipmunk in its mouth, so I escaped safely. Are there any upcoming hiking events in central Jersey?

You can also go to Rutgers Gardens and Kapik Preserve in Sayreville, which has 3 large lagoons and trails around all of them. Rutgers is just beautiful and is along the Raritan River in places.

I like to hike at the Audubon Society Plainsboro Preserve. You can hike there or join one of their events.

I live in Jamesburg and we have Thompson Park. They have mapped out trails you can follow. I have a couple of routes that I mapped out on my own, I alternate doing when I walk.

Thanks for the question, I see a lot of places I didn't know about, either. Will have to visit them.

I live in South Plainfield.. but have you tried the Watchug Reservations? It has tons of trails and you can visit the trailside museum. They also have guided tours. Oh and they hold a harvest festival every year. Your located in highland park which is about a 30 minute drive, but it would be a good weekend excursion.

I live in Monroe, so I am on the border of Monmouth County. Because my daughter is in Manalapan, I started to become more familiar with the Monmouth County Parks. There are quite a few and quite a variety. You can walk around the Manasquan Reservoir (5 miles), or walk the woods around Perrineville Lake. There are great trails in Dorbrook Park and many others. You can look them up on Monmouth County Park website.

Hi, I currently live in Highland Park (Middlesex County) and wanted to ask for recommendations on places to hike, fun outdoor activities. I feel like I'm in an exercise rut and I would like to venture out and try some new things. Thanks for your suggestions.
