kicking off the last unofficial summer weekend............. looks like the sun is trying to come out. Hoping for a nice day................................. going to do some work around the house and then get out this evening for a good walk.

Hoping we get a little more action here on our team page................... its been way too quiet.


Im going to start some kind of simple challenge for us to kick off fall with.............. hoping for some partiipation - It can only take us even a little step closer to the lifestyle we want to have. Im bound and determined to trim this belly fat.

Good Afternoon,

It's turned out to be a nice, some sun day. Went for a nice walk in the park and it was cloudy the whole time. A little breezy in spots. I passed a section of the park with a grove of trees. The birds were so loud and noisy, I said them must be having a bird convention. It sounded like there were hundreds of them. emoticon

So, have completed 122 days straight of at least 10 minutes of exercise per day. Working on getting my eating in order.

Ran a quick 10K with a friend yesterday, had a job interview this morning, and will be running Saturday in the Park 5K tomorrow, a women only 5K in Holmdel. It is a hilly 5K, I hope I survive!

Hi Spark NJ,

I spent a week taking care of an elderly aunt in Avalon NJ. emoticon She's 87 and as sassy as ever. It wasn't too hard watching my food intake in fact I didn't have much of an appetite down there at the shore at all and actually lost 3lbs while I was away. No boardwalk goodies. I'm glad to be back home now with my husband and dog that was a long week. emoticon

Just came back from food shopping at Fairway & got all lovely produce & meat & such.... very little packaged items in my cart! Tonight for dinner: butter roasted salmon fillets over onion, roasted broccoli, wild rice. Yum!

Good luck apartment hunting!!
Ran 5 miles and did some yoga yesterday. Today I am a little crampy and miserable, and trying to talk myself into a workout. I am still sore from Monday, so it will take a lot of talking!
I found and arms challenge and an ab challenge for September, to keep me motivated. They both have calendars that you can check off every day.

Happy Wednesday !

NJJAZZ, that is a major life mile stone. How nice you are getting to share it with her!
I went to school the last two days to set up my classroom. I came home exhausted but couldn't turn off my mind so I spent much of the evening on the computer looking at "teacher stuff." Yesterday we had a "Welcome Back Pot Luck Luncheon." After working in my room for 5 hours, I was famished by noon time, so I had no resolve when it was time for lunch and I was faced with so many less than healthy choices! Today is a new day, and I am ready to be faithful to the finish!

going apartment shopping with my youngest daughter today. Should be fun.......... she and a friend both graduated college and rready to go out on their own.

Yesterday's Slim in 6 has my glutes screaming at me today! I ran 5 miles, and into mile l3 the pain finally subsided lol. I did day 2 of yoga today, and that was excruciating. I managed every move, so I guess that's progress.

great way to put it.................. jumping back on the spark wagon. Me too.

My eating is not terrible but I wont burn this fat off without exercise - and thats the wagon I really need to jump back on.

Today is day 1 for jumping back on that. Its all about inches this time.

It has been dry here all day although it looks a little overcast now. I did Slim in 6 today plus day one of my yoga every day with Rodney Yee, from a book I bought. I am planning to work slowly towards some of those crazy positions I see on Instagram all the time!

seems like something is going around again. Im just about back to normal but still feel a little quesy if I eat too much. I can live with tht................. actually its a good deterent.

Sorry you gained 2 pounds being sick - I dropped 3 pounds in 2 days................ and as soon as I started even eating light again 2 of them came right back.

Starting to pack things from the house up north - to move to Point.................. relocating there permanently in the spring. I can believe how much stuff I have to go through and how little I want to take from here. Lots to donate - lots to get rid of and my kids are each taking rooms full of furniture to their new apartments. All 3 of us are making a move. Should be an interesting few months

Came home sick from my job last week. Sad how you can be in the bathroom for 2days and gain weight. How about that rain this morning. Getting to work was worse than a snow day. Not sleeping to well. Going to try to get to bed in a timely fashion. Hope you are all well.

sorry about the stomach bug! I have the opposite problem yesterday and today I spent a lot of time in the bathroom. It seems to be settling down now! Hope you feel better!
I have no races this weekend, although there is one nearby, just haven't decided what to do yet. I might just go to the beach!
We also have a party to attend on Sunday (My hubby's niece got married but didn't invite anyone and now they are having a reception.) and then we have Blue Claws that night. Should be interesting food-wise!

guess everyonee got my message............... we really need some action and activity on our team page.

I had a strange case of food poisoning and couldnt hold any food down for 2 days. It may have been a simple stomach virus but I did eat clams out the night before at a great Portuguese restaurant - and it may have been one bad clam.
Anyway ---------- in 2 days I ate nothing = could hardly hold down water............................so today - feeling better and got on the scale........... 134 - there it was. What a horrid way to get to lose a few pounds. What amazed me is how easily with 2 days of hardly eating - I dropped almost 3 pounds. While pounds are not my important measurement - body fat is - it just goes to show how a kind of occasional fast - or cleanse - sure doesnt hurt.

Rainy day --------------- lots of inside stuff to do. now to get to it

Good Morning Team,

I apologize for not stopping by more. Am a leader on another team and it takes up a lot of my time. Actually, have to back off of it for a while to deal with a lot of things in my life, namely trying to find a job, and a few other unexpected things. It seems as if, all of a sudden everything wants to go haywire. Talk about faith being tried! I am in a trying time right now. If God can't do it, it won't get done.

yuck!
No drizzle here that I can see, but it is generally yucky looking outside! I have been doing housework all day, off and on between Harry Potter movies with the teenie, so it's all good, but I do prefer a little sun!

On my way home from Erie. It was an amazing weekend! We visited Presque Isle, the Erie Zoo, and I got to meet Dan Evans from the Biggest Loser before the race. The race was beautiful and I beat my best time by 5 minutes! Super stiff today but it was so worth it!!

finally seeing the scale creep down slowly. I went to a produce store and stocked up on healthy fruits and veges. At this age = most of the time friends want to go out to eat. Im tired of it but figure if I eat well = most of the time = going out wont take a hit.

what I have to do is get back to exercising regularly. I know that

Hi All happy Saturday all going a lot better for me still not running but walking which is great. I have to beat 23.5 miles from last week yeah!! Weight is coming off slowly !!

I'm wondering where I can find a list of Walking/Running Trails in my area Gloucester County South Jersey (Anyone I'd appreciate it hubby runs I walk tired of same old streets and park)

I actually lost weight on vacation few weeks ago hope to do the same as I go again end if month but I did walk approx 25 miles to allow for my indulgences ha ha!!! Was very proud of myself am on Weight watchers since April. Hope everyone else is enjoying their summer.

Hello Team,

There's not much I can change with exercise. Today was Day 101 of straight exercise for at least 10 minutes per day. I do a variety of things, at least on day of strength, with cardio and some pilates thrown in at times.

As for eating, I am working on not eating after 9 pm, and eating more fruits and veggies. I have really gotten into fruit smoothies. I'm down 8 lbs. I'll take that. Slow and steady wins the race, right?

My goals are to get back on track, exercise at least 7 minutes a day, check the message board, and log what I eat every day. Just logging what I eat makes a huge difference!

Ran with a friend this morning through Point Boro and Beach. 4.6 miles, overcast, but still a sweaty mess when I was done! Dog walk in the evening, and now the storms should soon be rolling in! Happy Wednesday all!

Happy Tuesday!
The weather here in NJ has been great the last three days. I had a relaxing day at the pool on Sunday, splashing around & reading. Yesterday morning I actually needed a sweater as I sat on the deck having my tea. Last night we took a quick drive over to Belmar to have dinner by the ocean. Then we sat on the boardwalk for a while. I walked the boardwalk a little but with just 5 weeks out from his knee replacement, my DH, Chuck is still not up to doing much walking, especially since he had physical therapy. I didn't want to leave him sitting alone on the bench for too long, so I just took a short walk. Day 42 of my step streak! We came home and continued enjoying the pleasant weather by sitting on the deck. It was great sleeping with the windows open tonight! It was suppose to rain today but it has turned out to be another perfect summer day. Enjoy!

Trying to get my house in order. My Birthday was on the 2. After the dinner cake and wine. I went up a few pounds. Have PHILLIES game tonight. THAT means a few unwanted points or pounds. Would be nice to see a win. HOPE you all have a great day!

2 small changes for August:

#1. I've been trying to start my day by dancing. I find a music video on you tube or a song on my iPhone that I like, I grab my little 3 lb. hand weights and I boogie for 3-9 minutes. It's a great way to start the day! It revs up my metabolism for the rest of the morning!! So my goal is to try to do that for the rest of August.

#2. I love salads, but want to pre them down a bit to be able to incorporate other foods into my diet. I recently saw a recipe for "salad in a jar" that I'm going to try. You use quart size mason jars (which I have), and you make the salad ahead of time. Apparently, you can make a week's worth of salads at one time, and they'll last all week!! That would be awesome, so I'll try it and then let you know if it actually works.

Hello everyone, I have been reading your posts, and you are a very active group! You're all very inspirational! I did 10 minutes of yoga this morning, then worked a half day. Today I rode 8.4 miles and did Slim in 6. Tomorrow will be a trip to NYC with some walking, but not much. Luckily, there is yoga at the beach in the morning, so I will start with that!

Hi Team,
Sorry I've been missing this week. I had 3 full days of professional development workshops on strategies for teaching algebra. It was very informative but I left my house at 7 am and didn't get home until 4 pm at which point I started reviewing my notes and visiting websites. I was on information overload! Since I was sitting all day I had to also get in my 10,000 steps. Today is Day 38. I am going to do the Spark Solution Workout 3 times a week, slowly increasing the number of reps. I did that challenge and lost 4 pounds. I then went on vacation for 2 weeks and lost another 4 pounds (lots of hiking). However, when I got back there was a family reunion and then my birthday, so I am not getting on the scale this week.
As for an eating goal, I am going to attempt to eat less calories at night. I frequently load up on snacks and even though they are within my range, it is not good to eat so much in the evening. I am trying for no eating after 9, and only eating 1/3 of my calories after 5.

summer is really flying by. Hoping everyone is enjoying their summer - making healthy choices and feeling great.

Think about making 2 small change for Aug.................... one in exercise - and one in eating.


Ok so now my exerise change will be kettlebells. I have them I dust them I move them around but I havent started working out with them. Will do a youtube video 4 times per week all of Aug and see if my body changes.

For food ------------- going to replace one meal a day with cottage cheese or a power smoothie.

ok - what will your changes be? come and post here daily......
