Today I did a last minute run with a friend, almost 6 miles running along the ocean in Bay Head and back. I ended the month with just over 55 miles!
This weekend is a trip to NYC to see Matilda with the teenie, my friend, and her mom. Should be a fun day!

Yesterday I did a 4H mud run in Mullica Hill. It was crazy hard, probably the toughest yet, but so much fun! These things are addictive!
Today I am all over achey, so I am taking it easy. We walked the dogs this morning, might do a bike ride tonight if the rain holds off!

thanks for all those birthday wishes. I had a fun entire week.

Kathy1234....................... trying buying some protein whey powder and making yourself a smoothie with fruit or just adding it to cottage cheese and mixed fruit. That will up your protien quickly and not all alot of calories - plus it fills you up.


Off to a BBQ this afternoon close to the balloon festival. Maybe we will see some hot air balloons fly over our party.

I am glad you are over the whole 60 thing, age is just a number! It is how you feel that counts!
I ran 5 miles on the boardwalk today. The ocean was closed to swimmers so it was crowded. Probably not the best idea lol but the breeze was nice and made the run easier!

Good Thursday,
NJJAZZ, I hope you had a wonderful birthday and find you are happier & healthier with each passing day!
Cool & cloudy today but I don't mind after the extended heatwave. I love being able to open the windows! My husband is doing well 3 weeks after his knee replacement surgery. Thirty days ago, I got my Fit Bit and began my 10,000 steps a day streak. I have managed to get my steps in despite back & hip pain. Everything I've read said that you should try to keep moving with back pain and I am determine to keep my streak going! The muscle relaxants help when the pain gets too severe & I have an appointment to see the orthopedist on Aug. 6th. I have three-day algebra workshop next week so I couldn't get in to see him next week.

Changing a decade in age did seem to have a moment of seriousness for me. Being 60 just seems to be such a huge change from 59. The angst lasted one day................. and today Im completely back to normal. Only now 60


What a nice cool day. Will find some outside work to get done.............. and a workout too.

So the stress about turning a new decade doesn't go away, Jazz? Sigh. Even though I can objectively say that I'm loving my 40's way more than my 30's, a bit of me still wishes I was in my 30's. A very SMALL bit, but a bit nonetheless.

Been sticking with my running (YAY!) and surprise of all surprises, I've been sticking with tracking my calories on here AND staying within my range. Unfortunately, my scale is broken, so I have no idea if I've lost any weight. Seeing even a fraction of a pound come off is a great motivator for me, so I guess I better get off my rear end and get a new scale.

Yesterday we took the teenie to Fordham in the Bronx for a leadership conference. I managed to run 3 miles before we left, walled the campus for about 2 hours, then rode 2.5 miles when we got back! Whew!

HI Jazz & everyone - All going well here few pounds dropping off. Weather here is crazy glad it was cooler today. I was able to actually walk longer today... Heading off on vacation this week down south.. Havent been able to get out and plant a ton of plants I bought a few weeks ago..

emoticon Good Morning Jersey Gang!

It's been awhile since i ventured by to say hello! Not doing well with this weight loss thing...so here i am again looking for that push to commit to a healthier me!

We put up one of those Intex pools this summer --- i think it's great! Just enough to cool off...but on those HOT days last week i could have added some Mr Bubble and taken a bath! The water was so hot! Anyway...been thinking about doing some of the old pool exercises i used to do back when i belonged to American Woman gym...i used to love that!

i did finally do a workout yesterday...a couple from On Demand...tuff but fun! Then did a short weight workout. Felt good to finally get something done! Today i will do another cardio...then something lower body.

i'm working tonight at Bark in the Park - at Camp Bow Wow's table...at Somerset Patriots! Already planning to eat something healthy and bring a healthy snack so i don't feel tempted to buy the overpriced stadium junk food! Stop by and say hello if you & your pooch are there!

a very pensive day for me today. Im leaving my 50's and turning 60 tomorrow. Now thats such a big step. Im not usually age sensitive but this is a big one.

thank goodness the heat is gone..................... going to rain today. Plenty of things to get done inside.

Finished a hot sweaty Undy Run 5K this morning, in Long Branch. It was a little breezy, but yucky hot! I wore TMNT boxers over my running shorts lol

Happy Saturday morning! I haven't been on SP in a really, really long time. I've been working on my C25K program again and I'm doing great! I'm up to running about 25 minutes straight with warm up and cool down bookends. Wa-hoo! I forgot how much I love running. I'm back on SP because I'm just not getting rid of the 10 pounds I put on after I stopped running last summer due to health issues. Now I'm back running and the weight isn't budging. It might just be because I'm eating like a pig...

So here I am, tracking my calories so that I'll be disgusted at what I'm eating and start making better choices again. Any suggestions on good exercises to get rid of this spare tire? I'm not looking to have abs of steel or anything. I just have an entire wardrobe of really cute clothes in a size 8 and I'm solidly a 10. Nothing earth-shattering, but I want my wardrobe back.

Supposedly this is the last day of the heat wave. It's already less humid and I wish I had gotten up early enough to go running. Stay cool!

UGH it is hot! 99* already and it isn't even 11:00 yet! I ran a 5K last night and got 3rd in my age group! Woot! It was super hot and yucky, but it was along the water in Lavalette so there was a slight breeze! I chugged two bottles of water right afterwards lol

I've never done a color run but they look really fun. A friend of mine did one with her son this weekend, they live in Colorado and she said it was awesome and she's not a runner either.

I seem to remember someone trying to put together a team last year for one that was happening down the shore in October. I wanted to do it, but the hubby wasn't interested and none of my friends were either.

Hey there Spark NJ people!

I don't post on here much and have just gotten back into tracking over the last month or so. Has anybody heard of Kokofit clubs?

There's one in Cherry Hill where my hubby and I go and it's awesome. You are in and out in under an hour and what a workout. I've always been a sweater, but I never sweated so much that I felt like I was really getting a good work out and at this place I do.

well the sun is finally out............................. this morning was looking like we would have a day of rain.

Im headed to the pool for an afternoon of swimming and relaxing.............. then will do some yard work . My weeds are beyond what I can even deal with. Unfortunately I let the yard go and now have a major clean up to tackle.


Dont like hard chemcial weed killers which is part of the problem.

Hello Ladies emoticon ,

It has been some time since I have stopped by here. Being a leader on another team and life in general has kept me busy. I'm not sure about changing to the new tracker, either. Although, I do exercise regularly (72 days straight right now), but, I don't tend to track my foods. It's time consuming, and most of the foods I eat are not listed.

Right now my biggest problem is eating to late due to my schedule. Not giving up, I will find the right mix eventually. Busy weekend ahead also.

I managed to get in 3 miles between the rain drops today, 3 sweaty miles! Tonight is the Blue Claws game and I am excited, but also worried. We will be eating there, and I weigh in tomorrow at WW. I have to be careful what I eat. The scale has not budged since last week, and I don't want it going up! I have lost inches, so I don't mind maintaining, but I do not want to see a gain on that scale!

I have decided not to change to the new tracker. I am not consistent with my exercising, excepts for my daily steps so I don't need my calorie range fluctuating.

Deedaye Im going to check out tht option and take it. Calories should adjust based on exercise - or actually exercise should adjust based on calories. I like it.


Hoping everyone has a great day...................... I have something fun planned every day. Headed to Atlolantic City for an over night - then on friday to a concert at PNC - and then a 60th birthday party for a friend on saturday and the shore on sunday................

Happy Wednesday!

Has any one read about the changes to the nutrition & fitness trackers? There is an option that allows them to be linked so that your calorie range will change based on how much you exercise. It sounds interesting, but I'm on the fence because if you change to the new option you can't change back if you don't like it! Here is the link to the blog if you haven't seen it.

Jazz, I felt like that yesterday, wondered if it was the heat! Feel better!
Got my 3 miles in, over an hour ago, what a sweaty mess, and still feel hot! I don't even want a shower yet, and boy do I need one lol

Not doing to well today. Have to do the lawn tomorrow. At the shore with family. That always will miss me up. Also have Phillies game tomorrow. Boy is it hot. Hope this is helpful.(Spark) I have and still attend Weight Watchers, down 69lbs with 33 more to go. When I get the printer on and running I want to print the weekly Spark plan and make the adjustments. Stay cool. emoticon

Good Saturday to all,
I am sorry I was missing all week. My DH, Chuck had knee replacement surgery on Monday. He came home Wed. evening. I've been busy coordinating his care: visiting nurse, physical therapy, meds, meals etc. Thanks to the prayers of so many people, he is doing well so with regard to his mobility & pain. He has had some bleeding and swelling of he leg & foot. We talked to the doctor this morning & he said that is to be expected. The visiting nurse will come this after noon to check on him. I worry because he is on blood thinners. My eating has been crazy due to stress & boredom. That stops today. I plan to lose weight this summer not gain more! emoticon Our daughter will be coming to help out today & tomorrow because I have a baby shower to go to tomorrow.
I hope everyone has a great day.

Welcome RMCGHEE261! You will love SparkPeople, and all of the great tips and advice -- I know you will be successful in your goals!

Sounds like a challenge to squeeze fitness into your schedule! I did not discover SP until after my kids were driving -- but I think back to all the times I sat in the car reading, along side soccer practices or during piano lessons, and instead I could have been walking! With your schedule, you may have to try to fit a few 10-minute activity sessions throughout the day, rather than one longer session. For now, just look for places where you can increase your activity such as parking further from your destination, taking stairs instead of elevators, that sort of thing.

Thanks Njjazz! I'm new to the site- but love it!! I am having trouble finding time for fitness. I have three kids (17,7, and 7 months) and work full time and attend school full time. There is not e ought time in the day- it's really hard because I want to exercise, but end up squeezing it in and feel like I'm cheating myself by not devoting specific time for it. Any ideas?
