Well fellow NJ team members, I won't be riding in Asbury Park this year, but if you have it next year it sounds like fun. At this point I don't even own a bike. Have fun! I haven't been on SP in a long time.

there are two of us from SP doing the ride..................... I also have a few friends joining us.
Im riding the 32 miles so if you want to do that we can ride together............. if you only want to do 10.................... others are doing the shorter distance. We all start and end up at the sae place.
Do it.................. get that paperwork done.

Well, it seems I just signed up, lol. 90 days to train. It seems like a good idea to have the training advantage to increase my bike riding.

Definitely considering this! I used to cycle but I'll need quite a bit of training to work up to 35 miles- it's a good goal and for a good cause.

To those of you who think it isn't possible: I just started riding again in the last year after my bike hung out in the basement for years! First day, I went three miles and was sore. I kept going out, adding just a quarter mile each time (We have a great bike path here in Hunterdon with mile markers). Yesterday, I did 8 miles in the time I'd done 5 miles the week before. And, last Friday, since I had more time, I rode 12 miles. These are fitness rides, so I'm not taking breaks like I would on a charity ride. It can be done! I'll be 55 next month, so you aren't hearing this from a 25 year old!

I have been riding regularly for about a month now................... sometimes they are shorter rides like 5 miles - sometimes longer ones . emoticon

I did the 40 mile NYC bike tour............... 2 weeks ago............... quite a challenge but I did it. I hope to keep riding over the summer. Its amazing how it trims your leg muscles. I can see a change in my hips and thighs....................... they have tightened up a bit.

I would love some of you to decide to join me on this bike ride. Its not a race.... and you can ride 5 miles or up to 62. Im doing 35. We all start and stop at the same place so it doesnt matter...................... think about it.

Wow, this sounds like a nice ride and a lot of fun. I'm just starting out again to lode this weight once and for all. I hope I'm in good enough shape come Sept. to join you. I have a bike but haven't been on it since I got soo heavy. Thanks for posting this!

Hi there! I'm considering joining you! Are you going on any of the training rides? I'm just trying to get back into biking shape now, so this would give me all summer to get ready! My next door neighbor was just diagnosed with Type2 diabetes this week. Definitely a good cause!

I am riding in the Diabetes bike tour again this year. We did have a few Sparkers ride last year. Hoping a few of you decide to join me..... Its a great day - a very well run event and lots of music, healthy food - local vendors and just plain fun.

You can fun walk a mile - or bike ride 1 mile - 5 miles - 01 miles - 32 or 65. I did the 32 mile and will do that again. It NOT a race - its a leisurely bike ride on a well charted flat course.
Very nice ride.


Think about it................. there is a registration fee and it is a fund raiser for diabetes.
I have a created a team - Spark NJ - you can join that team and rride with us. There are staggered starts so it doesnt matter the distance you chose to ride. We all end up finishing at the same place around the same time so its fun. The ride starts and finishes at the same place and the ride along the Jersey coast line is beautiful.
