We had one hell of a job getting the kitchen ready for my very kosher (as in Orthodox Rabbi) son-in-law. Now that he's gone, we've got to bring back all the non-kosher pots and pans, silverware, etc. that we moved to make room for all the kosher stuff!

This happens whenever my daughter or any of her children come to visit from Israel. Lately, it's about 3 times a year.

Got my kitchen cleaned up quite a bit!

Life is happening now, not 10 pounds from now.

We have a crock-pot. Last year I made some sort of port roast (without carbs it's hard to improvise.) I think my husband will allow me to make it again "when the snow flies", because he's just that protective of "his" kitchen. (And I love that attitude.)

I really can't say much about the fridge. I stopped cooking when I went back to work when my 50 year old was about 4. My husband is in complete control of the kitchen. (By my choice as well as his by now.)

New appliances always boost your spirits. We bought a "fridge" that was so much bigger than the one we originally had that we have never said "We have no more room" We seem to be able to manipulate everything around to make a little extra room somewhere!

A new Kitchen Aid dishwasher and a refrigerator has been ordered. They will be delivered Jan 14th. In the meantime I have some corners to scrub out.

I picked the rest of my cucumbers and put them in a mayo sauce to marinate.

I do a lot of batch cooking. Soups - stir frys etc. Yesterday, I made some soup base out of my garden veggies. Now all I have to do is throw them in a pot with some veggies and let them brew for awhile. I have some turkey I could throw in with that. I cooked that up after I got it on sale over Thanksgiving.

I have my computer on my dining room table. I think that is going to change this week too. It is going to go back to the bedroom. It is to visible here so to tempting to plunk myself down and forget about the exercise. Gotta keep on the move. Latter MA

Healthy food simmering in my kitchen smells delicious right now.

Got lots of new and different spices as a Christmas gift. I always stock up on spices this time of year because they are on sale. Need to organize that cupboard soon. I have one side of my stovetop with savory spices and the other with baking spices. Cutting down on fat in cooking means using lots more spice.

I got Rocco Dispirito Cook book for Christmas. He has lots of great sauce recipes that will improve my old recipes. Flavor is where its at.

Today is our day to make the big New Years Day dinner so are up early and busy cooking.

Mostly the kitchen is pretty clean with the exception of the island where everyone likes to drop things. THAT is something that annoys me but it will be clean for dinner as we all eat at the island. We have no dining room table as no one ever seemed to like eating there. So a bigger seating area for the living room and the kitchen - we have an open plan main floor. I didn't think I'd like it but turns out even better.

Fortunately, the kitchen is y husband's responsibility, and he's in there now cleaning it up to where it will sparkle,as he does every day with minor exceptions. (Basically, only when hes nit feeling well.) The rest of the house isn't so bad. With no kids around, it's just a matter of sorting the mail every day and making sure the house is "picked up" every day, mostly clothes that have either just been worn or just came out of the laundry! (Or just bought, which when you're going down in size so rapidly is every couple of months at the most.)

Kitchen clean up- My kitchen stays clean and organized mainly because we pick up after ourselves, and don't let dishes sit in the sink. Clean up immediately after a meal and it stays nice.

My husband's been cooking since I started work when the younger kids were 4 and 5. The youngest is now 50. I finally got him started with doing that early last year. He makes vegetables in giant batches, 3 or 4 on rotation, and he heats them up, each for about a week, so we always have a lot of vegetables with each meal.

That's the only carbs I have during the day, along with the fruit we have for dessert. EXCEPT for yesterday, when we went to a Holiday Party and I went crazy with all those sweets around. I gave myself the day off, and I only gained 1 pound! But it's back to the diet today.
emoticon Think this is why went crazy last night? I'm not a drinker, but the eggnog was spiked, so I had no control over what went into my mouth after that!

Used my Instapot to make homemade spaghetti sauce today. I made 16 servings so I can freeze enough to have spaghetti once a week for the next 2 months. Its like having a night off in the kitchen.

We had company last night, and they always help with the cleanup process, so it didn't take long at all. The kitchen is now sparkling again, thanks to my husband's obsession to keep it that way.

Dinner out tonight. DH is going to a bike building workshop. A generous local man donates 300 bicycles to local schools each year. They are presented to 3rd graders as a Christmas gift. He remembers wanting a bike and not being able to afford one. DH and a bunch of volunteers assemble the bikes at the school auditorium.

Kitchen is cleaned daily. I just am uncomfortable in a cluttered space. I do need to organize one or two cupboards soon. Baking stuff has sort of taken over.

Those cookies will be delivered soon and that will clean things up to my great pleasure.

:::I am doing more batch cooking---to save time and cleanup- emoticon --doing it once and freezing lots for future meals. This helps so much for kitchen clean up and organization! And I most always get a 'night off' end of week when I need it. And I like to clean as I go--to avoid walking back into a messy kitchen.

We're also only 2, but we have one couple with whom we do many dinners, (at least 1 per week, frequently more). But my husband (who fortunately owns the kitchen) never likes to run out of anything so we always have at least 1, mostly 2 spares of everything.

We just downsized and the kitchen, while still plenty large, is much smaller than my last house. We do have a nice sized pantry and plenty of cabinets but I reversed where I put things. Because it is easier to put things in the pantry, I now have my small appliances, serving items, and bulk quantity things in there. I now use my cabinets for food because with only 2 people we don't actually keep much boxed or canned food in the house. I use my lower cabinets for baking sheets and pans. I removed the second shelf down there and installed pull-outs so it is easier to find what I need. The only items on my countertops are my coffee maker, a few pretty ornamental items and my dog's treats in canisters. I have found that I feel so much better without all the clutter and with this type of organization. As I age I find that I really like simple!

My husband has the kitchen sparkling, with all the extra "stuff" on the counters limited to only those machines that can't be put away. (The fancy coffee pot that grinds the beans, the seltzer maker, the toaster, etc.)

Baked goods everywhere in my kitchen. They arent causing me any grief. I see them and think, Not my food. Then I just dismiss them. Wow. Isnt that amazing?

Our neighbors have a party in the cul de sac at the end of our street this month for everyone who lives on the street. Everyone bring an appetizer or dessert . DH will bring cookies. Ill bring a bottle of water.

I have cleaned out any old expired food from my pantry. Now I’m working on my fridge and freezer. Actually I’m managing while the hubby does it due to my shoulder and hand. He is so sweet. ❤️ What’s next in your kitchens?

Looked through old recipes for veggie inspiration. Bought, zucchini, yellow squash, eggplant, tomatoes and bell peppers today. Going to make Briami which is a Greek dish of slowly baked veggies.

Grocery store was busy today. Lots of slow moving old folks, like me, in the aisles. Were retired so its not an issue so I just said my gratitudes for this time of life.

My husband makes it gleam at least once a day, sometimes twice. He's the type of cook who cleans as he goes along, so by the time we get to eat there's usually only the last pot or pan that was used. And when it's BBQ, the only thing left from cooking is the platter he brings it in on. But being retired gives us plenty of time to do things like that. And my strength is lacking after all the operations I've been through over the years. I was able to rebound most of the time, but the double mastectomy did me in. I'm totally cancer free after 5 years, but somehow I'm still fighting the lymphedema, and I get into a "space suit" like machine for an hour a day tot ry to keep it down.

When I came back from Kentucky a couple of weeks ago, I cleaned my kitchen top to bottom. My husband said he kept up with the cleaning, but we all know how men are.
I had to empty out every cupboard, drawer, and cabinet. Plus defrost the fridge and move the major appliances away from the way to get behind and under them. Totally Yuck.
After I was finished, it fairly gleamed with cleanliness.
Of course, these things never last. No matter how hard we try to keep up with them.

As part of my Kitchen cleanup---I made a master list of our favorite recipes.
From there I make the weekly menu plan---and the grocery list. Did it ever
clean things up---and save me time and energy---Money too!

Well, my husband got ambitious and totally cleaned "his" kitchen of clutter on the countertop.. We still have to go through those top shelves to put away what we don't use more than once a decade.
We'll probably keep all the little things we use once in a while. We may even put away one set of dishes. (Just into the garage, where we already have lots of sets of dishes because when our religious daughter (or any of her 8 kids & their 2 children) visit, we have to pull out most of the pots and pans and some of the dairy, meat, or pareve things we have, along with the corresponding silverware.)

It will probably take the rest of our lives to get the whole house done!

The biggest issue in my kitchen is that it's sized to only be of use for "Barbie and Ken dolls"..... It's so small that it really has to be organized all the time or it gets totally overwhelming.

The pantry I have set up in my front closet on the other hand... well, that is chock full of junk and chaos.... I am gradually finding that I can ( almost all of the time lately) know what junk food is in there and ignore it completely, or have a small splurge once in a while!

My one obstacle is the snack food that lives in one cupboard away from everything else. So far that enough.

For my snacks, I portioned out chicken in little snack baggies that I freeze. I have yogurt, apples that I bake for an evening snack, hot cocoa for a sweet something, boiled eggs, and veggies an hummus. My snacks are in the refrigerator and in a different cupboard.

One SP friend told me she bought lots of measuring cups and spoons at the dollar store. She leaves one in containers like cereal, pasta, etc. so she can measure as she goes. Thought that was a great idea.

We started cleaning and downsizing just to be able to stay where we are. I have some new medical paraphernalia that takes up a bit of room, so we had to take a recliner/lift chair into the bedroom, which cleared up that space in the living room. It gave us the impetus to look into at least one drawer a week, or if we get ambitious, 2 drawers.

Just completed a remodel of my kitchen. Measuring cups and spoons are important to me for portion control ... I tend to "eyeball" things and most times I'm close but sometimes ... it's way off.

Great project, since we’ll be putting the house up for sale in a few months.

I got married last year, so we combined 2 households. I did the best job that I thought I could at that time to eliminate duplicates, etc. But we’ll be downsizing next year, so some of those treasured serving platters & other stuff I haven’t used in the past year will be re-evaluated and donated.

The obstacle will be letting go of memories/sentimental value of things! How does one do that?

For successful weight loss, not bringing my binge foods (refined carbs) into the house is the best strategy. I recently retired & have been experimenting with new recipes. I am finding that a lot of recipes are really high fat/high calorie! While working, I ate a lot of salads. I think keeping it simple is my best bet. Eat close to nature.

I just began this weekend purging old spices---and replacing with fresh jars. Plan to go through cupboards and get rid of unnecessary items taking up space.

I need to clean out my pantries and have less on the counters and I have been working on that.

Good project. I already cleaned out three shelves in the top of the cupboards where things were just taking up space. I think my obstacle is consistency. It would help if I set a timer each evening and tackled something in the kitchen.

For the new year- let’s get our kitchens and pantries cleaned out. We can start December or January.

What is an obstacle in your kitchen?
What do you need for successful weight loss in your kitchen?

Life is happening now, not 10 pounds from now.
