good: i stayed within my calorie range. YES

great: i resisted terrible snacks and actually had a cabbage and mushroom salad for supper!

needs improvement: i still can't manage to get all my water in, but it's getting better. though i have started having a cup of milk in the evening, which tastes rich but is a good snack that i don't usually have.

good: did really well with food today: i stayed within my limit, had a lot more protein than fat, and even tried a new vegetable.

great: played soccer/football at the park with my cousin and some random little kids. so fun.

needs improvement: i am dragging my feet over going back to my personal trainer for some reason. and my sodium intake sucks.

good: walked home again last night & *got lost!* added about 20 minutes to my walk & about 2km.

great: went to the boy's Ukranian christmas feast this past weekend & when confronted with *homemade* pierogies, limited myself to 6 & filled my plate with salad.

needs improvement: I need to start doing the strength training exercises on spark.

Good: I had enough fiber.
Great: I had no chocolate for the second day in a row.
Needs Improvement: I didn't exercise. Once I got home from the grocery store, I just started cooking (made a huge pot of soup) and by the time I was done, I was too tired.

Yesterday:

Good: I ate lots (for me) of vegetables
Great: I made myself to go bed at a reasonable time, which I REALLY needed.

Needs Improvement: The minute I walked in my door I wanted to put something in my mouth. I ended up polishing off the rest of some homemade crack (chex mix) and then eating my dinner. Oh, and no exercise (cause I really had to go to bed).

Great: I ate carrots!! I hate carrots but I ate a bunch of them.

good: exercised for fifteen minutes for the third straight day.

great: ate three pretty good meals for the third straight day. two of those meals had a lot more fruits and vegetables today too!

needs improvement: too much snacking on chocolate-y things. unexpected chocolate cherries and truffles = fail.

Good: Ate breakfast (oatmeal with fresh raisins), have been tracking my food and have been staying within range.

Great: Did a full workout last night and feel great today.

Not good: Had 3 mini-truffles that were in the main office today. Didn't bring lunch so I must resign myself to the cafeteria. I hope I can make something of that.

For yesterday...

Good: I tracked everything and stayed in my range for the first time in...a long time.

Great: Kept myself from snacking after dinner except for one Ferrero Rocher chocolate. And I ate exactly what I put on my plate, not more, 2 servings.

Needs improvement: I need to drink lots more water. And I have GOT to get out of the house and exercise - I want to start the Couch to 5k.

good: prepared a healthy dinner for me and hubby (brown rice with soy chicken, broccoli and mushrooms)

great: wandered through baked goods at grocery store and was tempted by chocolate chip cookies, but i walked away instead!

not so good: argh... caved and bought a candy bar. told myself that it was justified because i am pms-ing. i totally regret it.

my goals for this week Monday Sept. 11:
eat at least 3 fruits/veggies a day
go to bed at 10 on school nights, at 11 on others
exercise 4 times this week
follow and track WW points

Monday- today:
i sucked at eating my fruits and veggies!
i need to go grocery shopping so badly! does lettuce and tomato on a hamburger at lunch count? (at least i only ate half of the burger...)

cmightym- at least you stopped at half a can of coke and were making veggie soup!

1. One thing I messed up on:
Didn't really eat well. I started off okay, but then it went downhill from there. It was a good thing there was no junk food in the house because I probably would have inhaled it.

2. One thing I did that was great:

*didn't eat lunch until 5pm because of a zillion meetings (but lunch was a healthy homemade chickpea spinach soup that i packed...at least)

I ate my 4 fruits and veggies, exercised (NIA), and went to bed at 10:30 (rather than 10:00). I tracked my WW points and stuck to my WW plan.

good day overall, just gotta get back to the 10:00 bedtime. It's just hard when my exercise class ends at 8:40 and I don't get home until 9... but i know that i feel so much better when i have plenty of sleep (and am less like to crave junk food when i feel better!).

a good day for me.
(I think I'm extra motivated when I know I'll face the WW official scale on Monday morning).

I rode 18 miles on a stationery bike- over an hour!! Chick lit helps so much.

I cooked two healthy WW recipes and froze some for later.

I tracked my points and stayed under my allowed 20.

I had 5 servings of fruits and veggies.


Wow, Righteous, only two flex points! very impressive! Did you manage to do that through exercise or good eating or both? i used 17 (which is certainly allowed but not impressive).

Didn't do so well with my goals...

I did track my weight watchers points and did well on my points.


Today is Sunday and I am serious about meeting my goals. I weigh in at my WW meeting in the AM:

I started ye ole' period on tuesday & this week I've been really resisting the normal urges that come along with it.

Yesterday I my totals were *exactly* in the recommended range. I can't believe how good this made me feel about myself! Seeing that pie chart all balanced out properly made me really, really happy.

It was a long and slightly stressful day at work and I drove by my favorite bakery on the way home. I resisted the urge to stop for a cookie or blueberry muffin (just because they are organic and oatmeal bluebbery muffins does not mean they are low cal- they are HUGE and buttery!) I am pleased with myself for resisting the urge.

Well, yesterday was the first day of my period and I was crampy and miserable. I usually take that day to let myself off the hook eating-wise. I ended up eating a friendly's sundae cup for dinner. I was tempted to order a pizza, but I knew that I'd end up eating way too much of it.

I managed to stay under my calories, but again, my sodium was off the charts and I think I got about 2 veggies in. :-/

i didn't excercise! :(
(but i'm gonna cut myself some slack. it is 7pm and i took a break to cook dinner but i still have about 2 hours of work to do this evening. today was an unusual work day- the day before classes start and i still have syllabi to finish!)

way to go "chubbyknees" on recording the pizza before you ate it. great strategy!

great: went to bed when i was tired, woke up when i wasn't anymore. that's a 10 hour night of sleep, all of which i needed.

needs improvement: i should have planned meals into my schedule of manic visits yesterday. instead i ate nothing until 3, then dove into a pile of tortilla chips and salsa dip. i'm sure i was under my max of 1550 calories, but there's no food in that food!

Today

Good: Despite not getting to go canoeing again, I had a nice long walk around the neighborhood with John. We had a picnic in the park and roamed for more than an hour.

Great: I dyed my hair.

Needs improvement: I'm 37 calories over. 37! The slim margin makes it all the more infuriating. Fridays I let myself go wild, as I have a recurring happy hour date with friends, but Saturdays are usually easy. Grah!

great: slept! i slept! a whole night... many hours in a row!

needs improvement: it was a rough day emotionally at work, and i took it out on some chocolate cake at home.

For yesterday.

Good: I went to boxing and did everything, or at least tried on the stuff that was really hard (i.e. dangling).

Great: While staying within my calorie range, I felt like I ate really well yesterday. Part of that, I think, is because of TJ's Bolognese sauce, which, were it a man, would be a threat to my boyfriend.

Needs improvement: At the end of the day, I had 300 calories left. I filled it with sweet, sweet tapioca, a big bowl of it. It made me so happy. So it's not a huge "needs improvement," but I could've used that allotment better. Or just left it alone.

That tapioca was so good. Oh my god.

good: did lots of ab work in the morning, which i usually procrastinate about doing.

great: kicked butt on the elliptical trainer, too!

needs improvement: i've been awful lately about getting enough sleep. tonight i'm going to bed early and going to the gym tomorrow afternoon instead of morning. i'm starting to get generally overwhelmed by life and weepy i'm so exhausted... boo!

Good: I'm actually on the low end of my calorie range today. So often I find myself teetering on the high end, figuring out more ways to stick things in my last 150 or so calories. It's nice to be satisfied with less. And that was with a glass of mead at dinner! Exciting!

Great: I went to my dance class today, and I intend to go Thursday too.

Needs improvement: While the pizza we make around these parts is pretty healthy, it's kind of all I've been eating lately. But it is SO GOOD. And it has PINEAPPLE. And I wish we hadn't finished it off at dinner.

Today

Good: despite my canoeing plans falling through, I still walked quite a bit today.

Great: I made a frigging EXCEL SPREADSHEET solely for the purpose of putting caloric value to the beer-dough pizza my boyfriend and I often make. Good news: it's pretty good for you. Bad news: I am a huge nerd.

Needs improvement: I haven't had any really great exercise since Wednesday. I've either been too tired or slept through when I might have went. Seriously, I've slept 27 hours in the last two days. You'd think there was something wrong with me. But no: I just like sleeping.

Good: I ate before boxing class, which also means I actually ate breakfast and lunch today, something I've been rather bad at lately.

Great: I made it through boxing class without dying, which, after last week's debacle, was a worry of mine.

Needs improvement: I was late for boxing class, partially because of dragging my feet in dread. But I love it again, and I was complimented on my hard punches, so all is well, really.

Thundergirl: I make brown rice at the beginning of the week & use it all week (it freezes and reheats well, or it stays decent in the fridge for a few days).

Good: Went to bed at 11pm, despite wanting to stay up to watch one more episode of my currently tivo'ed favorite show (Project Runway)
Great: Was nicer to my husband
Needs Improvement: Need to add a small amount of cardio/strength to days when I work

the good: ate really healthfully.

the great: went to yoga even though i was grumpy and really wanted to stay in bed and call in sick.

needs improvement: had a major freakout about a weight spike and the news that, no, my bra fitting wasn't accurate and, yes, i'm now a size even HARDER to find on the racks in anything pretty or affordable and had to be talked off the ledge by various brave heroes. thanks, heroes! i'm back down to 136.5 and learning to love my $68(!!!) undergarment.

Good: made a healthy dinner of stir fry veggies with tofu and rice

Great: ran 2 miles in the morning before school

Needs Improvement: just don't have the 45 minutes it takes to make brown rice. I love brown rice but when I get home and we're hungry, I want to get dinner on the table fast and brown rice is just not fast. And I refuse to use instant rice.

Today

Good: despite feeling like a harpy, I got out of the house and walked around and didn't hole up in my room. I walked two miles and saw a pair of silent movies. Huzzah.

Great: It's 11 pm and I still have 200 calories to get to my minimum! Snackage, here I come!

Needs improvement: the timing of my eating probably didn't help the bad mood I woke up with. It bears consideration. The leftover calorie budget is nice, but not when I had to keep myself from throwing a yogurt at the head of this guy blaring to his cell phone earpiece in the grocery store. (I still kind of wish I'd done it, though.)

good: another day of running intervals. i didn't last as long running time-wise as on the 26th, but the intervals were longer.

great: i slept a full night last night! it had been 6 nights of restless sleep with mr. might out of town, but i finally acclimated to it last night. ah, blessed sleep!

needs improvement: i ate an s-load of batter out of the cupcake bowl last night. it was delicious, buttery, and likely filled to the brim with salmonella from the raw eggs! i sort of lost control with the wooden spoon and beaters...

good: ran longer running intervals with shorter walking intervals yesterday: 4:00/2:30, and it wasn't painful, but i did work up a vulgar sweat.

great: my belly's finally following my legs' and boobs' example and getting smaller.

needs improvement: oh, the emotional eating totally destroyed me yesterday. i had a 13.5 hour day at work yesterday and was really tired when i got home and checked my email to find photos of my recently late grandfather's house all cleaned out and on the market for sale. it ruined me a little bit, and i turned to the kindness of chocolate chips for comfort... then i got to go to bed feeling sad AND sick to my stomach. ugh.

Good: after deliberately falling off the wagon today, I avoided many of the the yummies provided at the last day of my three-day work function. Oh, generous employer, I love you, but I can't eat a Danish right now!

Great: I've otherwise been doing well at staying within my calorie constraints.

Needs improvement: I've been sick this week, and I haven't gone to any dance/boxing classes. Fortunately, I've been doing a lot of extra walking (the work function was a mile away from my house), but I hate counting walking as exercise - I do that anyway!

At least I know it's not laziness. I fell into bed at two this afternoon and only got up at 9:30. I know it's best to let my body do what it needs, but... I miss dancing, dammit.

Good: after my Italian Wedding Weeklong Buffet Extravaganza, I am getting back into the caloric restriction thing.

Great: I went post-vacation grocery shopping and filled my fridge with fruits and veg, aided by my boyfriend, who is now also on Sparkpeople! This will make it so much easier!

Needs improvement: I, uh, celebrated yesterday's "holiday" and in the aftermath I could not resist the Cadbury Caramel eggs. They were just too, too good. So, I suppose it is also

Good: that we are out of Cadbury eggs. Whew.

Good: Didn't go the easy way out and get take out Mexican food, I made my own tacos at home.
Great: Husband, dogs and I went on a 1 mile walk when we got home. Usually we are so tired and hungry after work that we just let them go and drag them back in so we can eat and relax.
Needs Improvement: Had one spoonful of ice cream to take the edge off and it made me CRAVE more. I need to learn not to give in in the first place and I'll be fine. I didn't eat more but it was all I could think about and it took all my willpower to say no to myself.

Good: I brought plenty of healthy snacks to work with me.

Great: I had a dinner meeting last night and ordered a side salad instead of the fries and a veggie burger with no cheese...and only ate half of it! I stayed within my calorie range for the day.

Needs Improvement: I didn't go to sleep until after 1 a.m., because I was out at a show and woke up very grumpy this morning.

Good: had a ridiculous amount of vegetables with my dinner
Great: did another abs & rock hard bottoms class! Then I stayed for yoga and walked a km on the treadmill faster than my usual pace (3.2-3.4 instead of 2.8-3.0)
Needs improvement: I wanted to see how many calories were in a peanut butter egg, so I carefully peeled off the foil and flattened it out... only to discover it's not written on there. But now the foil was off so I shoved it in my mouth. It was not in my plan and I have no idea how much damage it did.

great: shopped at the farmer's market and bought tons of delicious produce for $13.00. frugal and healthy!

needs improvement: after all this running, shopping, showering, cooking of dinner, eating of dinner, i didn't have it in me to do any strength exercises. so, that's for today...
