I know I'm replying on top of my own post but as you can see I called this the "30 Miles to May Challenge" I propose that as its official name. Besides, that gives us a little extra time than just the month of April to go 30 miles.

I guess I'll do 30 too. I don't know if its doable but I'll try. Is this only for the month of April or can I start now because I did two tonight. Maybe I'll make it now through May 1st.

Yarden - I probably don't even do 6/week.
Which is why this challenge could be good.

For when you're outside I learned about this website when I was training for the weekend to end breast cancer last year - http://www.gmap-pedometer.com/

30 miles sounds reasonable. I think I usually walk about 6/wk, so I'll just have to up it a little. (Yes, I'm lazy).

I'm in.

YOu can do whatever.

I am going to set 30 miles as my goal for April- and I can run/walk/bike/elliptical/hop/skip/jump to reach that goal.

If I go at the gym I'll just keep track via the machine, if I go outside I'll either wear a pedometer or walk on paths that are drivable.

I'd love to do this if I can. I usually elliptical or walk but I'm just starting to run so this is probably good for me. Now is this a group goal or indidual goals that we will share with each other?

I'm not sure what I want to do yet. I am still focusing on running more than a mile at a time.

well, it takes an hour to walk 3 miles at a brisk walk. As I have said before, there is also laundry to be done and floors to be vaccumed. We can't spend our lives at the gym.

Oh duh - I was thinking like 60-100 miles as a goal, but when I calculate out how many miles a day that is....I already know I couldn't do it!

So...I think I'm going to go for 30 miles. Maybe 35. Starting April 1.

oooh elyptical, that's a good one.

All I can say is that I walk 5k (3 miles) everytime I go to the gym. Why don't we make it 60k (40miles) (ok it's actually 37.28 but all our gym machines measure in miles anyway so 40 miles).

And I think biking is cheating because its easy to put on a couple of miles!

But I'm going to do it all - walk, bike, elliptical. I'm just not sure what a good goal is.

I'd like to do walking and biking (I kind of feel like walking is cheating for me). We can probably nab tickers off some site.

Anyone up for a mileage challenge?

We could either pick one distance and work towards the same goal, or we could each pick our own distance to work to. I was thinking it could be for the whole month of April.

I always thought it was so cool at my old gym, they'd have like "Swim the great lakes" and for each lap you swam you moved a mile across the lake and after crossing each lake you'd get a prize.

Who's in?? Any suggestions?
