I personally would probably go for the fish. Ask how it's prepared (I'm going to guess panfried, with light breading). You can probably also ask to have it broiled or blackened instead too - if you like that.

From what I've read, it sounds like greens are often prepared in bacon fat, so I'd ask about it and maybe see if you can substitute it with something else.

And I'm laughing because I keep saying "I'd" when in reality I wouldn't do any of that - I'd eat the fried fish and the bacon vegetables. Ha!

Have fun, it sounds so good!

tonight we're going to a southern/soul food restaurant for dinner with friends. what the hell am i going to order?

i tried pulling up their menu online, but it isn't posted anywhere. i think they have a fried chicken salad that could be o.k. if i plan ahead for it, but the rest is fried chicken, mac-n-cheese, fried catfish (would this be a good idea?), mashed potatoes & gravy, collards, and pieces of cake the size of dinner plates.

so, the plan as i see it now is 1) diet coke only and 2) bites of someone else's cake, but what do i get for an entree? ideas?

thanks,

cmightym
