I think that sounds very smart. It sounds like you were in a very different place to have had such success with the shakes. the great thing about them sounds like you lost a lot of weight fast, the hard thing is that it sounds like a very specific, very restrictive program that doesn't sound like it really teaches you to make healthy decisions for life. Personally, thats the stage I am at, I am tired of making bad choices about what goes in my body, I want to clean it all up so I can make good decisions for the rest of my life and I feel like spark, so far, is really helping with that.

Don't worry, we're here with you. We're all in this boat together.

I know what you mean about the shakes.
I just have that one real success with them that keeps me wanting to go back. When you lose a significant amount of weight really fast with a certain method...you want to chase that feeling. After Jackson, I gained it all back and I just wanted to get back there as quick as I could.
But this time I don't have the structured support I had the first time(I was in a hospital sponsored program) and I was in therapy at the time too.
I'm on my own this time (other than spark people) and with the stress of a toddler...I don't think I can do the shakes anymore. Like Kari said, maybe as a quick supplement but not replacing 2 meals a day every day.

I'm surprising myself how well I'm doing too - sure, I have days where I'm 100-300 cals over, but....when I think about what I COULD be eating (and what I DID eat) 100cals is pretty insignificant!

Honestly, I don't think a diet that has you drinking shakes sounds healthy one bit. Your body is made to eat food, fresh, healthy, natural food - fruits, vegetables, whole grains etc. etc. etc.

Especially since you've failed a bunch of times should definitely tell you something about the shakes, they sound like a fad diet to me and you just can't lose weight that way. You're not going to be able to do it, it isn't healthy and you won't keep the weight off if you do lose it.

Please try the spark program, I've always thought that I had zero willpower or appetite control and I am going on a week and a half of pretty strict adherence and I am surprising myself by how well I am doing! If I can do it, you can do it. Especially since it really is about thinking about what you are eating and can even be an everything in moderation if you try reaaaaally hard at it.

Carrying over our discussion from the frustration thread, I think if we expect the weight to come off immediately, it won't. Its like how a watched pot never boils. We need to work hard and put in our time (and exercise!) and slowly, slowly, it will happen.

I think the shakes could be a good supplement if you're in need of a quick meal, but my god - I'd kill myself if that's all I could have!!

And we all want it to come off really fast. But like the saying goes - it didn't come over night, it's not going to go away overnight.

(but I wonder, since my last 10lbs came on in 2 months does that mean I can get it off in 2 months :)

And the other saying - slow and steady wins the race.

get some healthy foods in the house, plan your meals, portion everything out and you'll be so much happier with the variety!!

I was doing the shakes! I think that 4 times of trying and failing with them should tell me something...right?
I think I am going to try the Spark diet program...se how that works.
I'm just so impatient and want it to come off really quick!

Are you using this program or are you using the shakes?
Because I think if you follow this program, you can fit some of those "off limit" foods in once in a while - and - variety is the spice of life.

I don't want to give up.
I need start again, but with new goal. I think I was right when I was dropping one bad thing every month...basically, taking it slow.
I dove back into severe calorie restiction and it's not working, big shock.
I think I was doing better just being careful with food choices.
