Well ladies,

I cut it all off. Yelp, I sure did. My stylist suggested a texturizer a week and a half ago. After posting here, looking for cute and sassy styles, and breaking it down to two separate choices, I made my mind up, and what a relief it is. I've lost 20lbs since May, and when I got my hair cut yesterday, I finally saw the weight loss in my face. I was like wow! My stylist told me how to take care of it, what I need to do in the next 8 to 12 weeks (I'll definitely need to go back for trims), and I should be fine. Actually, even though its not a complete natural, I sure feel free. My head even feel lighter. I did work out afterwards, sweated in my head, and all it does is curl up when it dries. My stylist also told me to mix Moisturizer lotion (Nuevee), a little setting lotion, and remainder water in a little spritz bottle. A little of that in the morning (if needed). When I work out, I can wash my hair afterwards (if I need to) and I shouldn't have to put anymore of the mixture on I guess its really activator). It will curl up naturally. For a minute, I thought it would like a curl, but it looks very natural. Right now, I'm happy, cute, and loosing weight. I feel empowered.

Oh, by the way, my teen daughter loved it, my husband loved it, my MIL loved it (shocked I cut all my hair off), and my 5yo son, well it doesn't make him any difference I'm mommy.

One more thing. As I read all the responses, its amazing how we all are linked in this journey by two factors: getting healthy and remaining beautiful. Yes through our hair. "Its a hard being a black woman." Thank you ladies for your stories.

Ohhhh...I did have micro's before. I love them because they look like your hair. I usually wore them in a bun..very rarely did I let them hang down, but bear in mind they wreck havoc on your edges.

Hey Soror

I wrap my hair at night and then soft pin it,with piece hanging down. When I go the gym, I put a Satin HeadBand around the edges and its usually fine. My hair is a big concern since I go the gym during my lunch hour. If I don't have afternoon meetings. I don't worry too much, but if I have a lot of meeting I wait until after work to go to the gym.

Hi Soror,
I can't be much help because I wear my hair in a ponytail most of the time. It's the only way that I can cope with the sweat. I live in Florida and by the end of my morning walk I'm wet from head to toe.

P. S. It's good to hear from you. Our sorors haven't been too active lately. emoticon

and exercise. I've gone from braids, to a braid-like-twist, to very small rods (curly curl), but I need something that will last longer, and can endure the sweating. I was thinking of a testerizer (spl. wrg), but I'm not sure of the very low cut. I'm willing to cut my hair short, but I'm not feeling the boycut. Before going there, I truly want to drop some more weight. If I can get a short sassy cut with low maintenance, then I'll invest in the every two to three week visit to my stylist. As for natural, I don't want locs, twist, so what else is there?

So, what are you doing?
