Karen, glad your daughter arrived safely and I imagine she is back home by now. We are -21 tonight, extremely cold! We've been so lucky not to lose our electricity, say warm.

Carol, how was the games today??

No Lynda, I lived in our home before this apt, for 30 years and never heard of a furnace filter that was too thick. I don't really know about those things though. I'll bet it got very cold where you live, you're much further north than I am.

Tomorrow I'll be out all day and it isn't going to warm up outside - so I've already gotten out my warmest gloves and a scarf and I'll put on my warmest coat, it sure isn't my favourite by any means but better to be warm than fashionable! Do wish I had a hat, well I have a toque do they call them? A nephew's adult daughter crochets and she made me it a couple years ago, scarf too. I look silly in any type of hat and refuse to wear one!

Goodnight ladies, stay warm, sleep well.

Our house seemed to be getting cold---and the furnace was working but it wouldn't go up in temperature-- The Furnace man came and put a different filter in the furnace--- said the one we had in it was too thick--- I never heard of such a thing! ---All is well now-Lynda

It is a cold morning. 7 degrees & not expected to warm up too much. I am so thankful I did not loose my power so it stayed nice & warm in my home. I watched a movie & popped some pop corn! It was a pleasant evening!

My daughter & hubby made it to the concert & are now on their way home. Columbus got very little snow. I am sure that many people were disappointed to have to miss the show.. those that lived several hours away & could not get a room for the night.

I think all of the local churches have canceled this morning services.

emoticon Good morning everyone. It looks like the storm has gone from our area and yes, we still have some snow on the ground, Yay! Snow plow has just finished clearing the road out front of my apt building so next will be the walks. I think this snow will stay for a while, children will be able to finally make their snowman and have snowball fights. Oh, remember those fun snowball fights? I know that the winters when I was growing up meant lots of snow to play in, wish it was like that for the youngsters now.

I have a lot to take down to the recycle room today and some odds 'n ends of chores to be done. Tomorrow I'll be out for the entire day and I'm looking forward to that.

I'll be back later, enjoy your Sunday, whatever your plans may be.

I'm so glad your daughter and her hubby made it to Columbus safely and since they'll be staying in hotel for the night, you won't have to worry about them. Popcorn and a movie sounds just right for a Saturday night! I forgot to buy popping corn, grrr.

Goodnight ladies, I hope each of you has had a nice Saturday. Sleep well. See you tomorrow.

emoticon I afraid I have to say "good afternoon" to you all because I didn't get in here this morning. I had a terrible time sleeping last night, kept waking up almost hourly and the result was that I slept in till way after 10 am! Shocking, even for me but couldn't help it. I came in here and posted a bit, did a wee bit of sparking, left to have breakfast and ended up with a 'brunch' instead, lol. I had oatmeal, toast and a yogurt and that will keep me till supper time now.

Lynda, I see your temps are in the minus 30 today and that is freezing cold. Do try to stay right indoors, snuggle up to Himself and keep warm. That's a beautiful picture of you, Himself, your children and their spouses and all your grandchildren. I love it!

Irene, you've come up with an excellent idea! I'll put on a thread about 'cooking for one, recipes and tips'. It will probably be on the Misc thread, where recipes are. But tips will be very welcome, and letting us know what we're having for meals would be welcome. Oh say, you've hit the spot - thank you so much for the idea! I talk about the weather a lot, I know, it's just that we've been expecting a winter storm this weekend but now it is to miss my area, thank goodness. We are getting snow right now but it isn't heavy.

Karen, I like the coffee poem, lol, it's spot on! Losing power is my big worry and I see my computer isn't working properly this morning, whether that's due to the air or not, I don't know yet. Perhaps Bob Sager will cancel his show and whether he does or not, at least your daughter and husband have a hotel room booked so they'll be safe in the storm. Don't worry about them, sure hope they phone to let you know they got there okay though. Ahh, good idea to cook the roast in the oven today, the heat will add to the warmth in your home.

I think I'll do my sparking now, get it done 'just in case' hydro has some mishaps. Enjoy your Saturday everyone. Come in and share your day and let us know if you get that winter storm? See you later.

Morning ladies,

Sorry I wasn't here yesterday, I was moving from the time I got up till later in the evening. At that point, the last thing I wanted to do was come here in the kitchen and get on the computer.

The rain is gone till February and our temps are warmer with a high of 72 (wow). We are going to Mile Square Park and walk around plus see how the ducks, geese and crazy squirrels are doing. emoticon

Don't need to run to the stores which is a good thing.

Karen - LOL, love the quote, in fact I am going to send it on to my DD's

Irene - sue hope your day gets better

Lynda - this that is 5 degrees F but not sure

Gloria - LOL, you have the cold weather covered.

Nola - I take pain drugs, and the Dr.s who prescribe opioids need to take certain protocols to make sure pts are taking the medication.

Bev - hope you are ok, you went quiet again.

Waving to Bev Anne emoticon

I am interested in the cooking for one team too. I can only freeze so much!

I was going to go to see Bob Segar when he comes to Tacoma, but when I saw the prices I decided that buying a CD is more reasonable, plus I get to keep playing it whenever I want to. I have one of the CD's of his that I use for working out with.

I am across the country from where the blizzards and snow are rioting. I am on the Olympic Peninsula, and when I took Benny out this morning I saw that there are bulbs breaking the surface. I hope all your cold weather doesn't head west!! The rhododendrons have buds on them too. Really early! We are supposed to get rain, which we need, and high winds which we don't need.

Did the Fit, firm and fired up Day one today. I feel good about myself for doing it. I am one who hates exercise, but love the accomplished feeling it brings.

It is just starting to snow now. We are suppose to get 8 inches, Could be more or less. The wind will pick up later & that is when the situation will be worse. I am hoping we do not loose power but it is possible. My phone does not last long without a plug in but I am keeping it plugged in & keeping the house warmer in case we loose power.

I am not happy with my daughter. They have tickets to see Bob Segar in Columbus tonight. Columbus is about a 90 minute drive on a good day. They should reschedule it but have not yet. Tracey & her hubby left a little while ago despite my efforts to convince them to stay home. They have a hotel so will stay overnight. Not a good idea to go out when there are blizzard warnings! I guess Segar is from Michigan so you would think he would be smarter & think of his fans!

I am going to put that roast with veggies in the oven later. I will have enough meat to freeze for soup & noodles. The roast was on discount a few weeks ago. I would normally put it in the crock pot but since it is cold out the oven will help to warm the house.

Hello on Saturday. Itís a shame that team for cooking for one is not active. Maybe we could have our own thread? I have frozen ready meals for one in the freezer , some brands arevery healthy too. I have gone off red meat I listen to my body and it tells me it likes fish better than meat.
I only want small meals too now . The cramps are still with me most nights. I feel I am forever getting out of bed to stretch cramped muscles. I do drink a lot.
Weather is always a topic of conversation No snow in my part of the world but itís very cold , I want to hibernate.
Oh I booked an eye test I am not happy with my glasses. But the drugs I am on affects sight so i donít t know if I should buy new specs yet. Will see whatís said at test .
Have a good weekend. Irene

Thank you too Karen. It's good to get input on a team before joining. From the inactivity on it, I won't be joining it. I really dislike having food leftover because I don't like my freezer full of 'leftovers'. And I don't like making a pot of something and have to eat it for days, Ugh! I made chili and had it for several days meals, got so tired of it. I really want to know easy meals for one person, two people recipes at the very most. I'll keep on looking but don't think there is another team for planning meals and cooking for one person.
Thanks Karen, I appreciate the honest answers from you and Gayle about that team.

Gloria.. I am no longer on that team as they are not very active. I try to find recipes that I can divide easily. I get tired of eating the same thing for so many days or freezing it. Sometimes I find a recipe that serves 2-4 & that is even better.

Okay Gayle, thank you, that's what I was wondering about the team. I'll continue to look for a team that more or less caters to one person. I think if I could learn/hear how others plan their menus for a week and how they cook for one, recipes, I'd fare better - maybe. I won't start up a team for one because I have no knowledge about what to put on that team. If you learn of one, let me know please? Thanks again Gayle, I much appreciate your input.

Hi Gloria: About the team cooking for one or two. I belong to this group a long time ago and they had a lot of good ideas and a lot of good recipes. But as the years went on everyone seemed to lose interest, including myself. After reading your blog, I went back to see if it was still there. I was glad to see they were still a team but also noticed nobody was really active much anymore.

I do use the vacuum sealer bags to keep food fresher. They do a fantastic job at keeping food from getting freezer burn.

Karen and Gayle --- I just wrote my blog and it was partly about planning meals/cooking for one. I then went to look at teams, looking for a 'cooking for one' team, saw a cooking for one or two, went in to check and saw that you two are on the team! Before going any further with this (joining that team), would you tell me if it has helped you any? Is there like, any tips for planning meals for one? cooking meals for one?

emoticon Good morning ladies. I slept in till 9:30, should have set my alarm to get up earlier. Have not even had breakfast yet so I won't be on computer long.

Irene, you are adjusting well to your new way of life. I think in one way or another, a lot of us have adjusting to do. For me, it was coming to this small apartment in a totally different area, after living in my big home in another part of the city, or I should say on the outskirts almost! You do have a lot of medical appts and they are necessary. I snack too and I do it out of boredom, so we have to watch that. I'm going to up my calcium intake, that may help me with those nasty cramps also, thanks for mentioning it.

Karen, you must have had those batteries on your mind when you went to bed. I hope you are getting some sleep now. It is a worry to try to get ready for an approaching storm.

Nola, I'm glad your fur baby is okay now. It would have been a worry when he ate those seeds and got sick. I understand why you don't like the malls, I'm a browser so I love going to them. I enjoy my own company too but living alone, I get yearning to see people at times. I guess it is another of those 'to each his own' things. But I'm glad your pet is now better.

The big storm watch doesn't really apply to us right now, it seems we're to get the gusty winds, cold and snow but not the actual storm. I hope everyone in it's path stay safe and warm. We did get snow during the night but again, only a ground covering.

Enjoy your Friday everyone, come in and share your day, we care. See you later.

Didn't get to the Mall today. I had to take our little dog to the Vet. He ate some lily seeds yesterday when he was "helping" me sweep the front patio. This morning he was really sick, but he is OK now.

Gloria I just don't like Malls. I am not a browser, and I have everything I need. If I really want something I research it online and find the best deal and go there, buy it and come home. I just love peaceful places and enjoy my own company.

Karen we have a great Health system in this country. Because of our old age and retired we don't need insurance, most medical stuff is free or at a very reduced rate. Admittedly when we were working, anything you earn over $80000 has a 4cents in the dollar health tax that is just included in your yearly wage tax.and that is how the health system is funded. We do have to pay for our prescriptions but that is at a reduced rate, also dental and glasses.

Carol I hadn't heard that about being drug tested to make sure you are using your prescription drugs.

Lynda how lovely your Himself is retiring. You will be able to sit on that beautiful dock with a good book and have "nothing" pressing to be done.

Irene I get bad cramps when I don't drink enough water. Hope the extra calcium helps.

We have a weekend of both days being 40C (104F) I think it will be 2 days of me keeping a very low profile.

I am not able to sleep so up & will try later. It is 437 my time.

I have plenty of food & water so last night I decided to get my radio ready in case the power goes out. I needed 6 good batteries. The batteries I have were not all good so I searched for something with just a few batteries so I could figure it out. I was about ready to give up & then remembered some of my holiday decorations use batteries. Santa to the rescue! Santa only needed 2 batteries so I found the bad ones to toss out & now my radio will work.

I am going to try to get to sleep now!

Friday catch up. Three days of medical appointments this week wore me out but I have a free weekend now. Waiting for scan dates which will be the next outings. These days itís all Medicals or food shopping that are my dates. But I am still here. Adjusting to my new way iof life . I would be lost without my good on line friends.
I asked the doc about cramps. Heís upped my calcium dosage. Also I am looking at. Trying to have more potassium. Yes I get out of bed fast to stretch my legs during cramp. It wasnít too bad last night .
I must move my body now ,do my morning exercises and plan my meals for the day. I do need to plan and prepare or I snack too much .
Have a great weekend. Irene

emoticon Hello everyone. I'm well fed and sitting nice and comfy in my recliner, catching up on emails, spark mails, teams, etc. If you read my blog, you'd see that I made chicken soup for supper, minus chicken, lol. It turned out really good too.

Nola, that is wonderful news about Don. You both must be feeling so good about it. Hey, you don't like mall shopping? The people browsing the mall or just the shopping part? I love walking around a mall, looking at everything, picking up odds and ends that I 'think' I need, lol. I don't get there often these days and miss it.

Lynda, how about your Himself? Imagine him retiring, giving up practicing and him only 90! Wow, he's done awesome to continue being a doctor this long. He's been going to the clinic only part time for a while now, so will that help ease him, and you, into retirement? He'll be home with you all the time, you know! Those minus temps are here and the snow begins tomorrow, so take it easy, stay warm and stay indoors if you can.

Carol, imagine having to pee in a cup to show that you ARE using the drugs! LOL, have never heard that one before. And I still say you have got to loan me that flying carpet for a day, so I can fly around and visit everyone in person, lol.

Karen yes, I have that memory too but at our house, it was mostly a chicken on Sunday. My meds always get delivered, free. I'm actually waiting for them to arrive now.

Hello to everyone, whether you post or just read the posts. Nice to have you all here. And Bev, I sure hope you're okay, I worry when you don't come in because you're generally here daily. Let us know how you're doing?

Goodnight all, have a pleasant evening and a good sleep. See you tomorrow.

I am working on setting up an email account for my new drug plan. Entering the password they gave me turned out to be a problem. Lots of letters, numbers & symbols & I must have made a mistake as my account is now locked for an hour. I like getting my meds in the mail. It is convenient & cheaper. I hope I can get the account set up before my dr appointment which is next week. Do any of you do the meds by mail?

I am getting a late start today!

Not much going on here. Just a light snow & indoor activities. I have carrots & potatoes so pulled a beef roast out of the freezer for my weekend meals. It use to be a favorite for my family. We would come home from church to a house smelling good as the dinner was in the oven. Good memories for sure!

Sure is good news for Don! Sounds like you guys have the best insurance! I have a dear friend whose hubby is receiving radiation on his ear. They removed what they could & if the radiation does not work they will remove the ear. Praying it works!

Morning ladies,

Flying through on my magic carpet. Have an appointment and need to leave in a few minutes. The carpet is waving at me to let me know it is time to climb aboard.

Have a healthy, dry and safe day emoticon

Oh Gloria, Pain Medicine Dr.'s is a group I go to for pain. You need to go on a monthly basis to get a refill. Funny, we take a urine test every 3 months. They want to make sure you are taking the meds and not selling them on the street. LOL, they would need to pry them out of my hands to get any. emoticon

Every day I am on the verge of making slight changes that would make all the difference in my life.

One day I won't be able to do this, but today is not that day

Good news today. All of Dons Melanoma was removed and 6 lymph nodes biopsied and they were all clear. Also the P.E.T scan is clear. So all is good. Better news also is under our Health system which is great we only had to pay for 2 Prescriptions. Both the scans, and operation, surgeon and overnight in hospital were free, along with 6 weeks access to the Surgeon and nurse for dressing his wound.

Gloria enjoy your snow. We are having 40C on Sunday. Think I will be keeping a low profile.

Sandy enjoy planning your landscaping.

Tomorrow I have to go to our Mall about 30K away to pick up my reading glasses. I don't do Malls much, but I will take the opportunity to have a potter around and that should do me until Christmas.

Have a lovely Thursday.

emoticon Good morning ladies. I had a good sleep but woke up too early this morning. Maybe today I'll get a lot done, lol. I so enjoyed visiting with my cleaning lady and hairdresser yesterday and like what each of them did! They are predicting very cold temps plus snow from Friday-Sunday and we could get between 6-12 inches! emoticon I've been wanting snow but come on, that's a bit much! emoticon I'm just glad I will be staying right indoors till next week, I'll be able to look at it from my window and enjoy it. Lots of shoveling coming up for many, though.

Hi Sandy, very nice seeing you post here. You took care of Ted when he was sick? I know that's done with love but it's a lot to do, isn't it. My sister is taking care of her husband and she is 89 next week and a very tiny (80 lbs) person. I see all the time what both of them are going through. Ohh, what a big place you have, I wouldn't know where to start with the landscaping. Anyone nearby that can do it for you? I'm glad you came in to join us on the chat thread, you're certainly welcome.

Hello to everyone and a big hug to each of you. Come in and share your day, we're here. I know I'll be resting just a wee bit today but have no concrete plans for my day yet. See you later. Enjoy your Thursday!

Had a lovely day here on the Olympic peninsula. Walked Benny several times, checked out a few areas to make decisions on where I want to create some new areas for flower beds and create several meditation areas.
I have 5 acres, and all the while Ted was sick I couldn't keep up with the landscaping. It's an overgrown nightmare, and I need to get plans to start so I don't wreck myself. emoticon

emoticon My hair got done, I've had a healthy supper and am planning tomorrow's meals - I'm going to make a pot of chicken soup for tomorrow's supper, oatmeal and fruit for breakfast, just don't know about lunch yet. Maybe a salmon sandwich and some yogurt, sounds good. Done - my meals are planned.

I'm spending the evening relaxing and will look for something good on TV. Right now I've got on "My 600-lb Life." It's always interesting and I can relate to everyone that comes on that program. So goodnight to you all, see you tomorrow.

emoticon Good afternoon everyone. Sorry I'm late getting on here. Cleaning woman was here and just left. I could but don't like to be on computer when she's here, we gabbed while she cleaned, lol.

Lynda, my hubby always knew everything too - I'd smile and agree with him, smile to myself because I knew better, lol. You sure have more than your share of snow, ice and cold weather. Wind chill makes it feel like -14 here but no snow yet!

Elsie, that one about dust cracked me up, that's really funny! Snoopy one is true too, a cute one. I hope that sore throat and laryngitis don't get too bad for you, take good care with it.

Irene, I hope all goes well with your hospital appt today and oh my, cramped calves can really make your legs ache, do take care dear.

Carol, I don't remember what I ended up watching on TV last night, guess it couldn't have been very good, LOL. I sure agree about not driving in the dark and the rain, never take chances. That's a good report from your pain meds doctor? I didn't know really what you meant, sorry.

Now I'm looking forward to Pat coming to wash and blow dry/curl my hair. Sure needs doing! She has changed the time of my appt today 3 times so at the moment it is set for 5 pm. That means I'll wait till she's done to make my supper. Late meal but no snacking after, that will work out well.

Enjoy your Wednesday everyone, see you later. Come in to share your day with us.

Morning ladies,

Just got back in the door (yup, it sure is raining) from Pain Med. Dr. Everything is a go till next month's appointment. In a few, I am leaving for Stretch and Flex. Cancelled dinner with my tribe for tonight. The next super storm will hit about 3:00 and I would drive about 14 miles to meet up and don't want anyone driving in the dark and rain.

Boy, the intersections last night were flooded, our subdivision was flooding and this next storm is supposed to be the worst of the 3.

Irene - boy calf crapping is the worst, does it help to stand on the leg?

Elsie - LOL, love the dust quote, and snoopy quote is heart warming.

Lynda - glad you told himself he doesn't know everything. Unfortunately I am sure you will need to do it again and again.

Gloria - did you find a comedy on TV?

Waving to Bev Anne, Karen, Mel Nola and Bev emoticon

Every day I am on the verge of making slight changes that would make all the difference in my life.

One day I won't be able to do this, but today is not that day

emoticon Time for me to say goodnight to you lovely ladies. I hope you've had a good day. For those interested, I put a question on the Question thread I started last year but had stopped because hardly anyone was coming in to answer. I'll do this thread again and see how it goes.

I didn't receive all the Tupperware I had ordered, some is on a back order - when something goes on as a 'special', they get flooded with orders! Their canister sets are regularly $50 a set and went on for one week for half price! I ordered two sets for my two daughters.

Seems like a long night to me, been trying to watch some news on TV but it's all such dismal stuff, I don't like watching it! Maybe I can find a comedy movie somewhere.

See you all tomorrow, sleep well.

Mel, sure hope you can get in a nap today, being awake most of the night makes next day tiring for you.

Karen, yes, I've had a heart by pass done twice, 16 years in between them. First one had one blockage, second one had three. Everyone in my family have heart issues, even some of my children - one daughter had heart attack at 41, my son had quaduple heart by pass at 45. Sad to see your children go through these things. As for those deep fried dill pickles, yes we have them here in Canada at some restaurants, listed on the 'appetizer' list. I've never been interested in trying them, lol.

Carol, your temps are nice and warm. We are at minus 3 right now and going down to minus 15 in the new few days. I sure won't be going out!

Bev Anne, my doctor who is retiring is a Cardiologist. I have my family doctor but when a specialist retires, my family doctor tells me he won't get me into another one - that when/if I have a problem, he'll then set up appt with another specialist for me. That happened when my eye doctor retired a few years ago and I've not have one since!! I dread not having my heart doctor, he was good and at any sign of something going on with my heart, he got right after it, would send me to Hamilton Hospital and to other specialists there. Terrible how these doctors aren't being replaced!
emoticon Bev Anne, thanks for telling everyone to send me their snow. I'd love it - for a few days. Steps or inclines will do me in, do be careful on your walks.

Got my Tupperware lady coming soon so I better get off computer. Sure hope you're all enjoying this day, it won't come back again!

Well, I did walk to my meeting yesterday but it was just a bit further than I remembered and I wasn't sure I would make it at the end and today my back and left leg are letting me know that that was just too much for now. To cut some time off at the end I went down a path between some houses and along behind a schoolyard but then found I had to climb about 5 or 6 steps with no railing to get to a parking lot across from where I was going -- that was the straw that broke the camels back so to speak. I was completely winded and had to really push myself to do that last half block. Next time I try that I will go a little further on a route which entails a fairly steep little hill but no stairs. The walk along the marsh on Sunday was on fairly level ground whereas the walk yesterday had some significant inclines both up and down. Today I am going to take a rest and not try anything drastic but be cognizant of the fact that I am wearing my Fitbit and see how many steps I take on a fairly normal day. I will be going out tonight to a photo club meeting but that doesn't involve much walking.

Gloria, I'm glad to see that you got a good report from your doctor -- I didn't realize that you had had so many health issues in the past. I had a doctor in Victoria who had to retire after he was involved in a car accident and he could not get anyone to buy his practise. He had a young lady filling in for him at times and she was the logical one to take over but she had fallen in love with someone in San Francisco and was leaving the area so the practice just closed. We both had trouble finding a new doctor. We were told that most of the new doctors wanted to specialize because they would make a lot more money and that no one wanted to be a General Practitioner anymore. Is your doctor a GP or a cardiologist?

Those of you who have excess snow can give it all to Gloria -- we live where we do because there is not much snow here. It looks like we are going to have quite a bit of sunshine in the next couple of weeks so that will be a nice break from all the rain.

I experienced 120-degree heat driving through southern California along the Mexican border one August about 25 years ago. My daughter and I had rented a cute little white convertible and she made me put the top up so the air conditioning would work better. When we stopped in El Centro for lunch it was all we could do to walk a few steps into the restaurant -- everything we touched was burning hot. We were on our way up to Palm Springs which wasn't quite so hot but I remember that it was still quite warm in the mall even though the air conditioning was going full blast. And at the pool at our hotel, the deck was so hot I had to wear shoes to get from my chair (which was in the shade of the only palm tree) to the pool. I have also experienced -40 degrees in the winter in Alberta and I'm not sure which is worse.

As for the deep fried dill pickles -- I have never tried them but I think it kind of defeats the purpose to take a nice lowcarb food like dill pickles and drench them in carbs and fry them in who knows what kind of oil. I will take my dill pickles straight out of the jar thank you.

I hope you all have a pleasant day and accomplish whatever your heart desires.

I woke up with intense leg pains but thankfully the meds worked. Supper last night was interesting. We went to my granddaughters restaurant. I ordered pizza & deep fried pickles. Lots of left overs that my daughter said would be even better after a few minutes in my air fryer. I will portion out the pizza & freeze it. We shall see how the air fryer works?. The most interesting part of the evening was running into a friend that I use to work with & had not seen for 6 years. We had some catching up to do & hope to have a reunion get together with other old staff soon.

I was glad to get an overdue movie back to the library & get my toilet paper stocked up in case we get the big storm.

Elsie.. I sure hope you are feeling better today. Is the head ache & vertigo due to high blood pressure? I don't know much about those symptoms.

Gloria.. Great dr report. I did not know you had by pass surgery. Too bad about losing your good doctor.

Time for me to get some breakfast. Stomach is telling me to stop Sparking

Passing through today. Australia is just starting a huge heat wave for the next few days. Some places expecting 48C (118F). Think we may be lucky enough to miss out on the worst stuff.

Have a lovely day and don't forget to put on your smile. emoticon

emoticon Hi, I'm back. I got an excellent heart report from my doctor - he reviewed my heart health (heart attack/stroke/2 separate heart by pass surgeries) and declared I'm a healthy person now!! WooHoo, that was great news. Sad news though, after having this personable man and excellent doctor for 30 years, he is retiring in June. So far he has found no one to take over his practice so he said if I ever feel something is going on with my heart to go to ER and they would have another heart doctor tend to me. Isn't it something when no one will take over his practice!! After that appointment, my son's wife took me to a Tim Hortons for coffee and we sat there talking for an hour! I love times like that! I've had a healthy supper of Chili and toast then had a coffee and the one Bran Muffin that I brought home from Tim Hortons. I'm doing good.

Bev, the marsh you walked looks big! I imagine you'll chalk up a lot of steps. I hear you about the muscles that never get used much because of sitting - I need to be walking more myself!

Mel, dull days seem about right for sitting indoors reading, doing crafts, etc. Oh I figured you and Joe would get in some talking and bird watching too, ideal way for your outdoor excursions.

Hello Jan! Sunny and cold isn't too bad, that's how it is here today. Without the sun, it would be bitterly cold though!

Bev, good to hear from you. Your breakfast sounds like a small one to me, how many hours between it and supper? Getting old(er) sure isn't for sissies, eh? But it's still better than the alternative!

Karen, I'd love some of your snow but if the weatherman is right, we're in for a big snow storm this weekend. It figures, either nothing or too much! I hope you went out for supper with your daughter!

As for my sister's husband, for those who follow my posts, he didn't go to hospital today but sure is having a bad day. I'll always be there for my sister, she's at a stage where she needs me to just be there and listen to her. These two have been saints all their lives, always helping others and now this is how their "golden years" are??? Doesn't seem fair.

I doubt I'll be back in here again tonight so I'll say to have a peaceful evening and a sound sleep. See you tomorrow.

Yesterday I walked about a mile and a half around Buttertubs Marsh -- a conservation area in our city. I certainly felt it afterward since I was using muscles that I have been only sitting on for the past couple of months. There is a picture of the marsh on my blog. I was going to use my flexbit but it needed to be charged and I didn't have time to charge it before I left. I have it on now and plan to walk to a meeting that I have later this afternoon so then I can see how many steps I need to take to get there. As long as we have no snow that may become a weekly walk.

Carol, we have only had one day of snow this winter -- the climate is mild here because we are surrounded by water and the lows are just above freezing most of the winter. The last couple of years the temperatures dipped a couple of degrees and we got lots of snow and were snowed in for a few days each winter.

We may have no sidewalks and lots of deer and other critters in our yard but we are definitely not rural. We have a very bright street light right at the end of our driveway so I can find my way around the house at night without turning on any lights. And there is a very busy street just north of us -- that street only has sidewalks on one side at a time so I will have to cross to the other side to get where I am going this afternoon and then cross back again further down.

Well, I still have work to do on my album for 2018 so I should get at it.

Hope you are all having a good week.
