Hi all!

Apologies for being MIA for a bit - it's been a hectic few weeks.

I started my job on Monday and I am absolutely LOVING it! I'm still very much in the onboarding phase, but have started to wrap my mind around what I'll be working on. But the reason I'm loving it isn't just b/c of the job itself - it has a lot to do with the people I've been working with.

I really love the *culture* of the office and of my team. For example, my boss (who has 2 small boys) leaves right at 5 to spend time with her family. WHAT!? I have never had a boss like that (and I've had several lady bosses so it's not just a gender thing).

She's not the only one either. And seeing her and other people higher up putting kids' needs first make it much easier to implement a work-life balance on my end (which is something I really struggle with), and that's really, really appreciated.

It's hard to put into words how male-centric my old office was (and the all-male exec team definitely wasn't splitting family burdens either). All "important" meetings started at 6pm and went way past kids' bedtimes. And the idea of someone at the director level leaving at 5 to have dinner with her 2 and 4 year olds was completely foreign.

I guess this is pat of what happens when one of 2 co-founders is a woman and the exec team is 50% women. :D *swoon*

ANYWHO, the workout challenge I signed up for at my gym has been really helpful. I've done 3x1hr workouts a week since being fired :D. And it feels good.

HOPEFULLY my piano arrives today. I'm very anxious for it to finally get here (it was supposed to arrive, at the very latest, nearly 3 weeks ago). Before then, though, we're going to Cambridge to have a bbq lunch for a friend's birthday.

I wrote a post, but it didn't save!

I had very intermittent coverage in Oregon and am so happy to be home! I got home early and went back to work. I'll have to post a picture of the grounds outside my office, they are beautiful! When I take calls, I go out there to talk and watch the birds and bees. They have a fully stocked salad bar full of veggies that we sell. It's pretty awesome!

Hi folks :)

Thanks Heather! I'm actually having a harder time with how cold they keep it in the office. I'm getting pretty well acclimated to the summer weather and then to come into heavy ac is an unpleasant shock.

Glad to hear that you're staying busy too :)

Kourtney, I hope your enjoying your time before going back to work!

Physically I feel pretty fine, but the stress of the medical weighs on me. I've been doing lots of walking though and my diabetes consult is today so we'll see what they say.

Hello everyone!! I hope you are all doing great! I had a fantastic weekend and I sold a lot of candles. It's great to actually make some money at this! I can't make this my full time gig but it's surely helpful to have some money coming into this business while I look for full time work.

It's another busy week here for us. Recital is this weekend. It's going to be Sydney's last recital since she's not dancing after this season ends. It's exciting and a bit sad at the same time. I love to watch her dance!! So I'm going to enjoy the heck out of this weekend. We have rehearsals Mon, Tues and Wed nights. She only has to go to two because she's still feeling a little tired from the virus. I'm also in the recital doing tap and jazz and I'm pretty excited this year.

Lots of work, lots of family things, lots of things to keep me busy!!

Carol, I hope the move is going well and you're enjoying the time with your friend.

Jen, take it easy in the heat!!

Kourtney, I hope you're getting excited about the job that starts next week!! Hopefully I join you soon among the ranks of the fully employed! :)

Have a FUN and ACTIVE day and week!!
