Yeah, I'm right there with you feeling like I'm a bit invisible. And it's a great feeling!!!

So plans changed and the interview will be June 19th in NJ. That's a heck of a lot easier and I'm happy about it. I have an interview this morning and a phone screen this afternoon, so things keep moving along. One lesson I learned over the last few years is to not get too attached to any one job and never assume that I'm going to get offered any particular job. I just keep on going and applying like crazy.

So the kid was supposed to go to a leadership conference this weekend. She was chosen for it last fall and we've been looking forward to it all year. But she's sick, so she's not going. It's really disappointing, but that's life, right? Hard lessons.....

I'm going to start getting ready for my interview!! Have a great day everyone!!

Hahahahaha - I'm ranting right there with ya!!! Looking at retirement and what we'll have to pay in insurance until we have lower income?! Hubby does have a retirement income (tiny) that also allows us health insurance for $1,400/mo...and it's a GREAT deal! sigh

Heather - you go get that job!

Kourtney - Hugs...the job will start sooner than you think! I hope the classes have helped bridge the gap and you can get okay with your body image. Just think...oh wait...should I say this "out loud"? sigh. In a number of years, you will become "invisible" as you get older. Some people hate this, but I kinda love it. I'm a chubby, middle-aged lady, so nobody "sees" me anymore. So what the heck do I care?! I personally think it's awesome!

I (should be) packing up to leave for 2 weeks in Oregon, helping my besty pack up her mom's house. I'm super excited about it. ...I know, it's lots of work and who would want to do it? So, I'm twisted, what can I say?

All I want to say to this group is be kind to yourself. Love yourselves for who you are and just do your best every day to do some things that are good for you. I feel you on the anxiety and the stress, honestly I do, but from my vantage point of later mid-life I just wish I could go back to my younger self and tell myself to chill out a little. Enjoy the ride. Be gentle with yourself. I have to tell myself that every day.

I got the call that I made the final round for the job. The one managing partner interviewed four people and they are calling back three for the final round with the other managing partner. I have to fly to Charlotte NC next week for the interview. I'm pretty excited about it! I keep preparing and relaxing into the feeling that I know I'm a great fit for this job and that my job now is to help them see how amazing I am for their role. I can't make the decision for them, but I can do all that I can to make myself stand out as the right choice.

Sydney is super sick with a virus. Of course I'm out of work with no health insurance....but the doctor's office charged us a reduced office visit fee and they didn't charge us for the strep test. They also put me in contact with the hospital that has reduced fees or no fees for uninsured people. This system is insane. I can't qualify for Medicaid coverage because I made too much money last year and already this year. I can't qualify for reduced premiums on the healthcare exchange because of the same reason. But I literally have no income right now and paying $1800 a month for coverage with a $6000 deductible makes no sense at all. That's the cheapest plan I can get on the exchange for my family of three. Call me a socialist, but we need single-payer Medicare coverage for everyone. This employer based system is stupid and I'm tired of it. And I'm now going to step off my soap box!!

Have a great day everyone. I'm going to do a few nice things for myself today!

Heather, the fatigue I had for a few weeks there reminded me of when I had mono in highschool! Luckily that seems to have eased a bit. My Dr is big on encouraging physical fitness to improve delivery outcomes. I'm redoubling my efforts to walk at lunch every day, and I'd like to get up earlier to walk in the morning but getting out of bed is a terrible struggle for me all the time.

Kourtney, I hear you on the body struggles. It's hard, I've felt really out of control with how much weight I gained being back in a cubicle. I hope maybe the intuitive eating can maybe help ease some of that anxiety.

Carol, that planning sounds like fun to me!

Jen, keep on the exercise but also make sure to listen to your body. I was insanely tired my first trimester, then I felt amazing the second, and by the third.......well, I only made it to 34 1/2 weeks so I didn't get that last few weeks of crazy heavy tired, but I was feeling tired and it was hot......could be why I delivered so early or it could be genetic as I was born 4 weeks early. But I'm just saying listen to your body and rest if you need it.....cause very soon you won't get the chance to!! :)

The interview went great! I really liked the guy and I got the feeling he liked me too. It's a great company and a great opportunity and I'm doing all I can to be enthusiastic without getting too excited and ahead of myself. Job hunting is hard......I'm tired of it......I'd like to settle in somewhere that I fit in and stay there for a few years or a lot of years!

I know this......there's a feeling you have when you walk out of an interview and you know it went well, and there's a feeling when it wasn't great. Yesterday felt great. So while that doesn't mean I'll get the job, I do think I'll make it to the final round next week. One step at a time.

I'm off to our CSA farm to pick up our share for the week. Hubby does a work share so he works four hours a week for 20 weeks, and we get 20 weeks of the CSA share. It's usually a ton of food!! Yay!!

Hi all,

Last week was a bit wonky, b/c Mike was traveling for work and then for a bachelor's party, and I also took a trip to upstate new york.

2 more weeks till I start my new job :D.

I've been talking with my therapist about weight stuff, my relationship to my body and to food and all that jazz. It's not pleasant. She personally has a theory that a lot of people's weight problems come from trying to control it, and is generally on the "intuitive eating" train.

I'm trying to decide if I want to give that a try or not. There's a part of me that feels energized to start counting calories again and just get back to where I was weight-wise a few years ago. But there's another part that recognizes that that alone didn't work, and maybe this is worth trying...

I dunno man. I dislike trying to figure it out.

xoxo

Jen - Being in shape when you’re pregnant is super important, keep up the good work! If it’s too many calories, listen to your body. Staying away from breads is smart!

Heather - Wishing you all the best!!!

Tomorrow I have to go down to my other house to pack for our two week trip to Oregon where we’ll help my best friend pack up her mother’s house. She’s moving her into an older people community near her in Tucson. She has a ranch with 180 acres and multiple barns - sigh. It will be fun.

We met with a financial planner last night and she was awesome! When to start taking social security is super complicated but she has software to run scenarios with. She also has other scenario software so this is going to be fun! She’s going to push us to get our estate planning done and help design the best plan forward for retirement. I’ve been debating selling a house or two of ours because I know taxes will be shooting through the roof in the not too distant future...so maybe trying to convert an IRA to a Roth sooner than later may be smart...and she has the forecasting software to see! Yes, I am a total nerd...

I hope you find it tomorrow, too! Good luck in the interview

Carol, the ag business didn't sound too bad... Around here it's mostly chickens though. My MIL works for an egg farm.

I had a good, very social, weekend - which I needed so very much. I needed the face to face company of women friends. I also got an 8 mile walk in the woods and a swim to boot. Went for a walk after work with hubby and walked at lunch. Gonna just keep going...

I'm mostly avoiding breads right now until I get set up with equipment to measure my blood sugar after meals. It's surprisingly hard to hit even 1500 Cal per day. But I'm eating lots of veggies, proteins, dairy, and fruits and I feel good.

Carol, it's awesome when your work is rewarded. I wish I could work with you!! I'm not afraid of hard work and I like a challenge! I also like a little recognition now and then that what I do makes a difference. I sure hope I find that place tomorrow!!

I got the suit and new shoes. No boots......I'll have to wing that! Hopefully the forecast changes and it won't rain....

Haha...suit and rain boots...city...nope, not for me. I made sure I was wearing a simple sweater, non-dressy pants and my comfy Tom’s shoes lol. Ag certainly has some benefits to it! My favorite is at the Gonzales plant they have a salad bar available every day. It’s got all the lovely organics we grow, plus other fun stuff like beets, olives and feta! We have a workout room and showers.

I was talking to two of the partners on Friday about how I was going to need to hire someone and how difficult that is because ag is so much hard work, you really have to love to work hard.
One of them was teasing me that I had a maniacal smile when I said that lol. I said that while I was a little twisted...look at them, they’re putting up the money and risk. When they were leaving one of them patted my back and they both agreed how lucky they were to have me on board. It’s a great place to be!

I’m super sore today since yesterday we spent the whole day working on the wall in the “finished” basement. We pulled off the ugly paneling and there was a solid cement wall with wood impressions. We watercolored it with back, white and a gray/blue. We had to scrape, then scrub all the plaster off, we still need to do some sanding and patching, but it’s a nice space.

Good Morning!!! I hope everyone had a great weekend. I had some small success at the street fair I went to on Saturday. It was very humid, then we had a thunderstorm threat! It was all very exciting, but I think it may have kept people from attending. I still made a little money so that's a good thing.

Today I'm preparing for my interview tomorrow. I'm very excited about the opportunity and I'm preparing hard for it. I'm off to buy new shoes and a suit and a purse if I need one. It's going to rain, so I need to make sure I have something to protect my feet while walking in the street, then a place to put those boots when I change to my nice shoes. Interviewing in the city presents challenges that are different than just driving to an interview.

For the rest of the week after the interview I'll work on client work and candle work. I'm certainly busy!!

I've also been diligently working out each day, so I'm feeling good about that too!

I hope you all have a fun and active day!!!
