Kourtney, you probably did rock that interview. But for some unknown reason the employer went in another direction. It has nothing to do with how great you are and the skills and experience you can bring to the table. Do NOT let this get you down.

It's so hard to face this rejection but take it from me, you can't take it personally. I've known I was the right person for the job and still couldn't get the offer.

I looked back yesterday over my job application history on one of the job boards I use, and I could not believe how many jobs I applied to that I didn't even get a call for. It's a numbers game in many ways. You need as many at bats as you can possibly get in order to get one offer.

So, just keep going. Network, apply, do research on companies, and keep the energy going in the right direction. Also, take care of yourself. Set a schedule of eating and workouts and relaxing time. This is the exact advice I'm applying to my own job search.

I'm off to a candle show tonight. I hope I sell a bunch! I could use the cash!!

Hey all,

Trying to keep my spirits up. Got my first rejection yesterday after an in person interview that I thought I rocked. :-/

But lots of other phone interviews and social things this week so trying to stay positive. xoxo

Hi everyone!! Dance class was so much fun last night. It's a great workout!

I've noticed so many people looking down recently. Even in our dance class where we are supposed to be having fun there were so many grumpy faces. It makes me sad to see so much stress. I have my share of stress right now with the whole unemployment thing, but I feel so up. I want to just spread some happiness because that up attitude really makes a difference for me!

I got my hair cut last night. The local Great Clips is having their $8 haircut sale, so since I'm so frugal these days, I went to check it out. I got 7 inches of hair cut off and I feel great! I love the new look.

I'm getting ready to pack up my candles to go set up for the artisan fair I'm participating in tonight. Thankfully it's inside because the weather looks iffy. I also have an outdoor fair this Sunday and the forecast right now is for rain. I really need it to not rain!! Please send good thoughts and prayers for no rain on Sunday in Highland Park NJ!!!

Have a great day everyone. Be thankful for all of the good things in your life. Take a moment and reflect on a few things for which you are grateful. I find that's an awesome way to stay focused on moving forward!!

Fresh start is a good outlook :) one of the helpful things from my therapist was funneling baby-centric energies into other productive endeavors.

I got to the pool last night finally, and I was really hesitant to go because I was pretty tired, but I was so very glad once I got in that water. I didn't swim hard, but just a steady breaststroke and did 1,000 yards in 25 minutes. I slept a little better last night too.

Hopefully tonight I can get a walk, the weather is supposed to be beautiful this week and I have a couple art projects that need attention.

Kourtney if I could, I would give you a big long warm hug. There's really nothing else we can do for you but send love. And I send a lot of it. Hang in there. I'm thinking of you so much.

Hello all,

Bit of TMI, you've been warned: so I just had my first period post-miscarriage. It's good that my body's back to doing it's thing and whatnot, but it's bittersweet. I'm trying to take this combined with it being the end of the month to move past the BS that's happened this past month. See it as a new start and whatnot.

OK TMI over.

I have personal training again today so that'll be good to get me out of the house. I'm hoping to spend all day in the garden tomorrow. I have some weeding to do plus herbs and flowers to plant.

This week, I'm trying to keep busy as I hear back from places I've applied to. I have a few informal chats w/companies I reached out to that didn't have postings, and a proper in-person interview with a company I really like. GAHHH!

xoxo

Hi folks,

Heather I like the sounds of your transition plan.

I've been giving a lot of thought to the work plans too. Another person in a key position is leaving here, they still haven't replaced two others who left in key positions over the past year. The short handedness is making the csr position extremely difficult because things aren't moving through the shop like they should. And I'm looking ahead to not wanting to take on that kind of stress. Some things just aren't worth it in the end.

In the near future, just trying to go day by day and learning to manage this nausea. I'll have another viability ultrasound next week, so little mile markers to focus on.

I want to swim tonight, hopefully I'll feel up to it.

Good Morning all!! I hope everyone had a good weekend! Mine was fun and productive so yay!

I'm trying to catch up a bit from last week, so here goes:
Jen, I read two books when pregnant, "What to Expect When You Are Expecting" and "The Girlfriend's Guide to Pregnancy". I highly recommend both. I also got on a website that was something like Spark, but for pregnancy. I liked it a lot. They sent me weekly emails with updates on the development of the fetus, how I might be feeling, etc. I'm sure there are plenty of good ones out there. I can't recall the one I used, maybe it was The Baby Center?

Kourtney, I'm so sorry about your miscarriage. It's a loss that's hard to talk about because it's so personal and also hard for those who haven't experienced it to understand. On the other hand, a lot of people experience it, and it's more common than most people think. I think if you recognize it's a legitimate loss and grieve for it, that might help your healing process.

I have a very personal and difficult fertility and pregnancy story that's too long for this forum. I may blog about it soon on spark for my friends to learn even more about me. 'Cause, you know, I'm not shy about sharing here!

Laurie, cute grandbaby! I've been watching you with her on FB. I can relate to the work from home thing as I'm doing that now while searching for a better full time gig, or at least consulting work.

As for me, I picked up three clients last week. I think maybe I can make a go of this CPA work on my own, but it will take time to replace the former income! So, I'm looking to do short term consulting work with an accounting consulting firm. Like fill in for people on leave, provide support for special projects, etc. Even an accounting manager position pays pretty well, so this could be my bridge to full time working for myself.

Also, I went to my first street fair of the year and did great! I love selling candles!! I wish truly I could do this full time, but realistically the CPA work is more lucrative at this point. But I have my goals!!

Workouts are regular but not daily because I've been so busy!! Today I'm back inside on the treadmill.

Have a FUN and ACTIVE week!!!!
