I ate out most all weekend but had a nice long walk today and a good productive and relaxing weekend :)

Tomorrow is ultrasound take two, so fingers crossed!

Carol, your employment stories baffle me, that's pretty cool though and the travel fund will be great to have.

I'm trying to figure out how to become a mostly stay at home mom. Of course I'll have my art hustle though. I had a three hour food truck fest that brought in $100 Friday night. Events like that give me hope lol

CAROL....I have a friend of a friend who can't seem to retire either. She's a professor at the University of Illinois' Chicago campus in Pharmacy. Probably not an easy job to replace. They keep talking her into staying. She keeps saying, "I have to retire one day!!! And you have to deal with it!!!" Ha. My SIL also went through this as a teacher in a struggling school district in the Phoenix, AZ area. They were failing "No Child Left Behind" miserably and couldn't get people to teach for them. After two years of "teaching until we can find a teacher", she finally said, "YOUR PROBLEM....BYE!" So...you'll retire when you REALLY want to retire. You can only dole out favors for so long. I did go back for one month after my replacement got pregnant, had the baby early, and decided not to return. I'll tell you what I missed most...MY LONG, DRAWN OUT RELAXING MORNINGS WITH COFFEE! LOL After you've had this easy going somewhat LAZY mornings, it's hard to get back into the routine! I volunteer and have my photography, knitting, and (when healthy enough) sports to keep me busy enough, that is for sure. Best wishes and what a great idea to beef up your travel fund with the loot!!!!

KOURT....Still wishing you the best on your job search. Hopefully, you be getting calls to interview soon! And WTG on the weight loss!!!!

My half marathon race that I had to pull out of was this morning. Saw the women (women only half marathon) trotting along as I drove to church this AM. It was rather sad as it was a pleasant enough morning for a good run. Missing the enthusiasm of racing with all that positive energy!

Had rejoined Weight Watchers and also lost some weight, not a ton, but working on it SLOWER than I'd like. I lost 11....had gained nearly 5 back from a vacation, but lost it all in one week upon my return and have been holding at this same weigh for nearly a month! I'm just happy I didn't gain while sick on the couch eating cookies and milk! Ha, ha... The illness did NOT suppress my appetite, Unfortunately!

Taking a hike in the woods this afternoon to check out the bluebells! Hopefully, they are at last blooming!

I think us eating in more (to save $) has helped with the weight loss. I'm down 7lbs! :D

Just made a goal list for the week. Might go for a run later today, but I'd really rather not. BUT I have PT tomorrow and I haven't worked out since Wednesday's PT session. Granted, I was very, very sore for 2 of those 3 days, but I should have worked out yesterday.

I've been super productive w the job search - applied to 20 jobs thus far - and today is the first day I'm taking off from it. Back at it again tomorrow.

I have a few social things planned this week. Skype plans w friends Sun, Tue, and Thu. Lunch with an old coworker on Wednesday and then a networking event that evening. It looks like it will finally be spring - the weather should be in the mid-50s all week. So maybe next weekend we can work on our garden?

xoxo

PREGNANT?!!!!!!!! Oh so awesome!!! We totally want to go through this with you!!!

Lynn - I'll buy a step counter, that sounds like fun. Sorry to hear you were sick, get over it quick! I can never get the shots because they use egg and I'm allergic. They are starting to do "eggless", but we'll see. I'm always fearful that I'll react to whatever the agent is!

Kourtney - You'll find something waaaaaay better, I'm sure! Sigh, still, it totally sucks!

Heather - Just talk to your old boss and cut out everything else by changing the dates.

Yeah...so, so much for retiring. I seem to have the opposite problem. I was retiring, remember? This headhunter said I HAD to talk to these people and I told them no, and then I want more money and they said okay, I said no, I have to take four weeks off this summer, they said okay...I said, um...yeah, I was out of reasons not to do it...so here I am, two weeks in and the ownership keeps coming by and thanking me for taking the job and telling me how phenomenal I am - hahahahaha

So I'll bank half the money in the travel account, work until our next big trip and have around $70k banked, doing work I love to do...this is good, right? But, hubby fully retires in August...

Jen...Maybe no news is good news. Hope you hear something soon so you can put your mind at ease. I've had friends in the past that had spotting and it turned out to be nothing, so hoping for the same for you.

No swimming here either....just waiting for this virus to completely rid itself and it is almost there. Just walking now and then and need to do more of it. Now that the weather is better, hope that motivates me to get out. We had snow night before last and supposedly, that should be the last dose of it! Sure hope so. Crazy cole April set a new record as coldest April. Last time it was like this was like 1880!

Heading to a horse farm today with a friend to photograph some horses and their newborn fouls. Will be nice to be outside with NEW life! :D

P.S. Heather...We posted about the same time.... Best wishes on the job search!!! Enjoy your busy weekend. Hope you get good weather!

Jen, my absolute only piece of advice is to let go as much as you can of the anxiety. And I know that is a lot easier said than done, as I deal with anxiety myself. But you are just starting on this journey and finding an ability to be as relaxed as possible will help. I went through absolute hell getting pregnant so I had my own journey which was uniquely mine. So much of it is simply out of our control. Trust in the medical experts as much as you can, question them so you are informed about your situation, and don't look for things on the internet about what can go wrong, because almost none of it will apply to you. I'll be thinking of you a lot!

The job search is starting out well. I've made lots of recruiter connections and I'm making some progress with that. I came to the realization this morning that I've been interviewing for these jobs as if I'm entry level, trying to prove what I can do for a company without spending time thinking about how they are as a company. I'm doing that because I've been panicked. At least this time I have an income stream that is small but steady and that helps with my stress.

It's going to be a busy weekend of dance competition and accounting work! Yay!!

Take care everyone. Remember, it's all about the love........

Yes, lots of news!

I heard a lot about the flu shot not being very effective this year and it being a particularly bad strain. I don't usually get a flu shot and so far I've been ok *knocks on wood*

No real word from the Dr yet, I don't think she knows just how worried my anxious mind gets lol (she'll learn). I had an ultrasound last week but it was too early too see much, and a first hcg test. My second hcg test and follow up ultrasound and appt with the Dr are Mon and Tues next week, so I'll know more then.

I don't have a due date yet, but somewhere around the end of Nov/beginning of December.

I didn't end up swimming today, took a nap instead lol

WOW....So much news.....I read last week and this weeks to catch up! KORT and HEATHER....I am sorry to read about your job losses and sure hope you find something soon! Sounds like you both have great attitudes and are hard at work looking with some prospects ahead. Look at is as a new adventure. Best wishes to you both!

JEN...Congrats on your pregnancy. What is the update with you doc? Sounds like all is well, I hope! Leave it to us old bags to figure out someone is pregnant! LOL! You must have that "glow"!

CAROL....Glad your job is going well!

I was sick with possibly the flu all last week and just getting over it. I had the flu shot, which was considered a flop this year, but if you got it, most with the shot would get a milder case of it. Hit me like a bomb and completely exhausted me (which is very flu like). Sinus and chest congestion was there, but milder than usual. Sore throat, headache, but no fever. Could NOT get off the couch! It was like I had MONO or something! Finally got most of my energy back!

Had been training for a half marathon, but pulled out due hyperextending my knee on a quad stretch! It's feeling much better, but I had to stop training for a month and the race is this Sunday. Now with recovering from an illness, I can't even walk the thing!

Challenge....Heather...I'd do it...as for which exercise...swim, walk, whatever.... You could do what our school did a few years back. You did the "step" challenge if everyone has a step counter...if not, this would not work. Swimming, biking, etc., can easily be converted to steps and all you have to do is Google, "Step conversion chart" to see how it is converted. Another thing our YMCA did, was have their own version of an Ironman.... a 2 mile swim, 112 mile bike, and a marathon (the Ironman distances). ONLY....not in one day, of course. They had a 3 week period...but you can extend it to a month which is much easier. We all have access to water as we are a swim "team". And the bike miles do NOT have to be an outdoor bike. Like the Y....they counted on ANY bike...Stationary or real. You did not have to RUN the marathon part...just walk, skip, hop, run...Just put the mileage in. Just throwing out some ideas. Otherwise....I do like the...Imagine your point A to point B destination and walk, run, swim, whatever to that spot but such and such a date.

Hi guys,

Heather, I'm so sorry! Ugh man, you'll be ok I know, but it sucks just the same.

So, most of the women I work with are in their mid 50s or older. One of them came over and said "I bet you're pregnant!" I didn't confirm or deny, but I had a feeling the grandmother would figure it out quick, and she sure did.

I felt good enough today to take a good walk on the treadmill after work. I might try for a swim tomorrow.

Hello all!

Heather - I've been thinking of you a lot lately w/all of this. *hugs*. Glad you're keeping busy and seem to be in good spirits. Remember to give yourself time to process when you need it too.

Carol - Ooo you started a new job? What are you up to now?I missed the whole transition, but glad it's going well.

***

My work gave me 6 weeks severance (so it'll "last" me until Memorial Day). I was there for 2 yrs and 7 months but it's a startup so it was more generous than I was expecting.

I'm just still in shock a bit from the fact that they fired me. At least it's far enough out of the realm of reasonability that it's easy(ish) for me to say "OK, this wasn't me, it was the new boss who didn't like me / felt threatened? / doesn't know what he's doing." It SUCKS, but it does save me from the rigamarole of figuring out when I was going to leave (I wasn't happy with said new boss). There's just so many people I've worked closely with and respect who I didn't get to say goodbye to. And this coupled w the medical stuff from a couple weeks back is a lot to handle at once.

Yesterday was fairly productive, though. I found a slew of jobs I'm somewhat interested in, set up job alerts on websites I trust, found a bunch of networking events to attend, and completed a rough draft of my revamped resume. I've passed the resume over to a few friends that I trust and asked for honest criticism. Fingers crossed I get some good feedback. Today, I'm working on cover letters. I'm actually over at a friend's house. She works retail so she has Mon/Tue off, and I can pick her brain about wording and stuff.

xoxo

Carol, they gave me a month. I was only there 10 months so I suppose that's not too bad, but it's not great really. I'm considering consulting an attorney to review the letter and see if I can get a letter written to ask for more.

On the up side, I applied for a really good job late last week and the recruiter called me this morning. The only issue I have at the moment is my now choppy resume. I'm good at job searching and I'm good at interviewing. So hopefully I'm not out of full time employment for too long.

Also, hubby and I are cranking up our business and I have bookkeeping work to do. I'm busy, so that's good.

Have a great day everyone!!

I feel ya 100000x over on the employment woes, Heather. *hugs*

I'm working on my resume today (about 80% done as I write this), and sprinkling in a few chores too. Also looking for networking events in the area.

Mike has dinner w some big guy at work so I'll be on my own tonight. Gonna make some turkey tacos. Nom. And track track track.

Today it is POURING which really sucks for those running the Boston Marathon. We have a tiny stream next to our house and it is ROARING. Happy to not be going outside anytime today.

Good afternoon. My morning got sidetracked because my employment was terminated. I have no idea why they let me go. I'm not in the best place at the moment, so I won't go on too much about it.

On the upside, I've been exercising so I feel good about that. And I have craft fairs to go to and bookkeeping work to do. So, that's what I've got that's positive.

I hope the rest of you are doing better than I am today!!! Oh, and for those who I am friends with on FB as well, I'm not ready to share this publicly yet. Like a few others here, I feel like this is my safe place.

Have a FUN and ACTIVE day!
