Hi Y'all,
I hope everyone is off to a super nice Easter weekend. It's a beautiful sunny mild temp day here. The dogwoods and azaleas are in bloom as well as cherry trees. It's soooo pretty here this time of year. It does bring on my allergies with all the pollens but allergy tabs are working.

My swimming last week wasn't great. I had difficulty having the stamina to do 50 meters one day. The next I did the 50 but couldn't eek out the next full 25. The day after that wasn't much better. So this week I'm trying to focus on getting in more sleep each night. Maybe that's what's the cause--6 hrs a night is just not going to make for good swimming the next day.

Suggestions for me on building stamina? I'm registered for a 100 yard freestyle in the senior games in early May and don't have it yet. I just want to be able to swim the 100, not set any records.

Looks like I may have a pinched nerve. I have a PT approval so just need to schedule the appointment. I've had some massages trying to workout the muscle soreness in the neck, shoulder and pecs and while it eases things it's not getting past the problem.

Daughter/DIL just dropped by to pick up some things I gathered for them for the kitchen and had baby with them. He just turned 8 weeks and is beginning to notice things around him with some real focus. I bought him a chubby board book for Easter so the moms can read it to him. This book features colors and he seems to be drawn to it. My daughter used to like the blocks of strong colors I would make for her crib side. I'd make various geometric shapes and color them in assorted ways. She loved to rollover towards them and would just stare and stare at them.

I'm making Easter dinner for them at their house and DIL's mom is joining us too. This way baby doesn't have to be schlepped anywhere and we're all together for dinner. The girls are not cooks so it's safer for all concerned if I prepare the dinner. Hahahaha.

Wishes for a Happy Easter,
Lapperoo

Building up those ankles just sounds so weird to me lol

Tonight is bowling night! Almost to the weekend... I'm looking forward to my Friday y visit tomorrow to close out the work week

Sounds fun Carol! You go girl! Nice you can set your own rules!!!

JEN...Best wishes building up those ankles....

Tomorrow, my old swim team is having a reunion of sorts. Bagel Friday, as we used to call it. We would occasionally meet after swim practice at Big Apple Bagels next to the YMCA where we swam. After I retired (I was the unofficial captain of the team), I had GREAT difficulty getting up at 4:30 AM to swim and kind of faded away. Unfortunately, my absence didn't help that team. They always said I was the glue that kept them together and one by one, they started to disappear. I felt bad....I tried to get them back a year later (not having a coach was even a bigger factor....The Y couldn't find anyone to replace the last one. Being they paid garbage, who would want to get up at 4 AM for low pay to coach a bunch of old foggies like us!), but was the only one who showed up at 5 AM on the designated date. I was depressed the rest of the day! Now, one of our main swimmers is back in town (he had moved away before the team dispersed) and he suggested a swim for bagels Bagel Friday! So it'll be exciting to see the old gang again.

Wow...semi-retirement sure takes some getting used to - lol...what day of the week is this? Every day was easier haha.

Thanks for the birthday wishes, Lynn. I hope the injury resolves itself. I find as we get older the more we do the better off we are. The house flipping thing has really helped my pain levels! You are doing so great with your photography!!! You are amazing!

Heather - Glad it's going okay! I hope the dance recital for you is awesome!

Jen - Kinda jealous of the SCA events since I did that when the kids were young.

I had my 57th birthday and I was super excited that we could afford for me to retire...but I keep getting these job offers and one is super fun sounding and I keep throwing roadblocks like, need a car, need 4 weeks off during the summer...sigh, it sounds super fun and they are agreeing with everything I throw at them...

Hi folks,

Take care of that knee Lynn!

I had a busy weekend with an SCA event and a pop up art show. Got my swim in last night, still trying to build in some freestyle laps. I swam Friday night and felt it in my ankles the next day walking/standing on tile all day. Gotta build up that kick!

Wow Heather....How proud you must be! She is sure growing up to be a beautiful young lady!

FB said it was Carol's birthday today. HAPPY BIRTHDAY CAROL!

Haven't been swimming much... We've been back a week now from our FL vacation and had been busy catching up on stuff. Now it's spring break with my volunteer jobs as all the schools are out for it. So it's like a bonus!

Had hyperextended my knee with a quad stretch about 3 weeks ago after a 10 mile run/walk (training for a half marathon on April 22nd). While on vacation, I tripped over a stump and landed on my sore knee....thankfully, on a soft, sandy, white beach! Still...pain was excruciating right when it happened. But it was short lived...almost seemed to correct they hyperextension, but new discomfort developed delaying my return to running by nearly a week. It's so-so in that it doesn't hurt, but feels a tad uncomfortable. I bought some KT Tape and taped as directed around the knee. It does help some, but not to the extent I had hoped...but still....it's not bad at all, just....a little something there. I get gun shy with this stuff as I don't want any set backs. WAY behind on the HM training....so just revamping my goal...which, if I can run it, cross the finish line at 3 hours or less standing vertical. LOL! We shall see! At least I only paid $35 for it. Most HMs around here are between $8-100!

Have a good day!
Lynn

Good Morning!!! I hope everyone had a great weekend.

We had some fun watching the kid dance. Wow, I mean I really love to watch her dance!! It was a tiring weekend though, and there's not much that's relaxing about a dance competition weekend. But it's all worth it, because she is just so beautiful up there on stage!!

It should be a busy week here at work! And it might also actually warm up a bit this week. Woo hoo!! emoticon

Have a FUN and ACTIVE day!!
