Ice storm here today. No driving the 30 miles to swim today. what is your favorite way to cross-train? Brownme, I am recovering from a stress fracture in my foot. At least the dr. Approved me to keep on swimming! I'm back to light walking now. I hope you are feeling ok after your fall.

I did get a swim in yesterday.

Today I slipped and twisted my ankle on our icy front stairs; it happened so quickly: I just landed wrong on the slippery ice/snow at the edge of the stair!

It could be a lot worse. We went ahead and went out to lunch and to the grocery store, with me with a little limp, but skipped our planned putting to a museum. I am elevating it and icing it. My fiancé is a doctor and insisted on a thorough examination, poking and prodding it (yuck), but he declared nothing torn...but that I have to spend the rest of the day with it elevated...so here I am with my laptop!

Alatona - Yeah I don't think of Georgia being that cold. Putting your bag in the car is an excellent reminder.

Jen - Brrrr

We have more boxing up at the one house and tiling 4 closets today. That should be a good work out, We're getting a little rain, but I hope it clears up because I want to take another load to the new house.

Happy weekend!

Colder than usual here in South Georgia too. No snow, but it's been too cold for my liking!! I'm not sure when I'll get around to swimming - hopefully before the end of the month - but I'm taking steps in the right direction: logging on to SP, drinking & tracking my water. I have access to the indoor pool at the university where my husband works; it's open on weekdays.

I was not allowed to swim during my recovery from surgery this past June, and I had a hard time getting back in the habit of it this past Fall. I took a positive step today and put my swim bag in my car. Classes at the university resume on Monday 1/8, so I know the pool will be open. I need to go get in it!!

Happy 2018 to all

Thanks for the welcome, CalGalFox!

I've been plowed out, and the gym is open, so I have no excuse for not going today!

Brrrrr, though! Just taking the trash out this morning freezed my face.

Enjoy the Santa Barbara weather.

I love the "sun deck" sign, that would make me laugh too...though I'd never live anywhere that it snowed (I'm a Santa Barbaran to the bone!). I love visiting snow ; )

Heather - It seems to me that living that close to your job is worth every penny of 30%! Hopefully hubby's art is starting to help fill in.

Brownme - I love the elliptical too. I don't belong to a gym right now because we just moved to a tiny town in California and I haven't figured it out. We have a pool in the backyard that needs some work before I can use it, but hubby bought me a bike trainer for Christmas, so I'll be doing that now. Congratulations on getting engaged!

Jen got engaged and married with us, so we hope you do too!

Jen - That actually sounds like a great day for taking PTO...not sick and motivated on art? That sounds lovely!

You easterners be sure to stay safe! We're all super excited here because we're supposed to get some rain!

HI everyone! I swim at my Y 2-3 times a week. I got in there yesterday ahead of the snow storm. I've been alternating using the elliptical for 30 minutes as well, aiming to go to the Y four or five times a week.

I also do 15 minutes of yoga every morning. Sometimes I go to a class at the Y, either yoga, or barre or kickboxing - just to do something outside of my routine.

I lost 21 pounds in 2017 - pounds that I gained in my new relationship. (Got engaged a month ago. I quit eating the way he does.)

Now I am working on maintenance.

Hi folks :)

Snow day here, I tried to get to work this morning but the wind was so badly blowing snow back in to the roadway, my little car was feeling very squirrelly so I turned around and came home. It sucks losing a PTO day but I watched Netflix art documentaries, and painted, and shoveled snow :-p

Pebble, I aim to swim about 2-3 times a week too. I have a y membership so I can swim year round. I hit up the pool yesterday ahead of the storm and enjoyed talking a break from this bitter cold in the sauna.

Heather, that resort job sounds pretty nice! I wasn't here the last time it came up, but I hope it's a better fit this time around

Carol, at that time I really couldn't see how I could manage a nearly 30% pay cut, and probably at that time I honestly couldn't. But now, I've made some adjustments in my life and honestly the pay would be about what I'm making now, so it could work. I haven't heard anything yet but I'm getting to be a real pro at this waiting around for HR to contact me, so I'm not stressed at all. In fact, I'm fairly certain no one has even started putting resumes together yet on their side. They posted the job the Friday before Christmas!

So the snow has hit here in NJ. It's pretty bad in many parts of the state, and even where I am, which is far from the coast where it's hitting hardest, we are having a lot of snow and wind. Let's just all hope we get to keep power!!

Everyone in the path of the storm, be safe!

Today I'm doing a nice long treadmill workout at home and working on client things since I can't do a whole lot from home for work since we don't even seem to have VPN set up on my laptop. :) The new company is very old fashioned in how they work.

Have a great day!!!

I swim at a nice indoor pool that has a wall of windows with a sign on the door to the outside that says "Sun Deck" that just makes me laugh this time of year. The pool is always nice and warm. I swim 2-3 times weekly which is enough.

Pepple - Welcome to swimming for cardio! Do you get in any swims during the winter? Lots of the easterners don't get to swim during the winter.

Heather - I remember when you were debating about that job and decided they couldn't pay enough. Maureen and I both thought at the time that it sounded pretty perfect, so fingers crossed! I love accounting for the resorts and hospitality. I've gotten roped into doing audits and cost accounting for a number of golf resorts because of who the owners typically are in my line of business - lol.

I can't wait to start using my new trainer (that Heather's hubby uses). It turns out the tire pump is at the other house (sigh) but my hubby should be coming to this house soon and if not, I will be at the other one this weekend. We are getting really close to living in one house!

Hi!! Happy New Year!!!

Man, you are not kidding about cold here in the East! It is just crazy cold, with lows around zero and highs near 20 for about the last week. It warms all the way up to 25 the next two days then plunges back down for a few days to like a high of 7 on Sat and Sun. Ugh. I really don't like this cold!!! But, it's winter in the northeast, so it's not like it's unexpected. California is looking pretty great to move to right about now!!

I'm so glad to be done with the holidays. I always have fun, but I get lethargic and eat and drink too much no matter how hard I try to focus. I'm happy to be at work and busy!!!

I started yesterday with a good workout, so they year is already going in the right direction! No swimming yet. But remember I said I was really going to try to figure out how to get swimming back in my life? Well, I applied for a job last week at our local resort. It's a very nice ski, golf and resort hotel and permanent housing community and they need a Controller. They needed one about 8 years ago, but it didn't pay enough for me then. They looked at my resume then and really liked me, but wouldn't come up in the pay. Well, my situation is different today, and the pay would likely be just fine now. So, fingers crossed I get a call this week and maybe, just maybe, I get a job 25 minutes from my house with a resort and all the benefits that come along with that, including membership in their fitness center and pool.

In the meantime this current job continues to be nice and not overly demanding. No complaints.....just maybe a little boring here. Boring isn't so bad though!!

Have a FUN and ACTIVE week!!! Stay warm if it's super cold where you are!!

Current temperature is 6 degrees with snow and ice. 41 would be a heat wave! I am in Cleveland, OH.

Happy New Year everyone!!!

emoticon emoticon emoticon

I was complaining it was cold here, so I turned on the heater...then I saw how cold it was back east...I'll stop complaining now haha it's about 41 degrees here which is super cold for us. It's supposed to get into the 70s today, so not too cold.

I'll be sanding the floor in our bedroom today and if I get far enough I'll also prep the walls for painting. My hubby set up my new CycleOps so I can try out my new indoor bike!
