Lapperoo - thanks for posting so we can get to know you! Sounds like hubby is doing well, and that's a good thing.

My hubby and I have been together for over 25 years, and just celebrated our 25th wedding anniversary. I'm an accountant, he's an artist. I'm pretty concrete in my thinking, he's very abstract. I work ridiculously hard at my job.....he's not always as dedicated or focused....let's leave it at that. emoticon We've worked diligently over the years to forge an ever stronger relationship......this particular month has been a challenge. I know we will get through it though!

Hi Group! I"m sort of the new kid on this block. My husband, Chuck, had a cardiac cath done on Friday. We were both feeling pretty anxious about it this time around. We came to realize that in the past we didn't have advanced warning of the cath as he went to hospital as an emergency. This time it was planned. He did well on the cath with no new problems and the doctor said he wanted to give the new heart med a real hard trial to see if that would resolve any problems.

A little back history: nearly 3 yrs ago hubby had open heart surgery for a blockage. It was successful and he was feeling fine for over a year when he got severely stung by a nest of bees. He was already very allergic to bee stings and went into anaphylaxis, with a full code blue at the ER, and when he came to he immediately threw clots causing a heart attack. They weren't able to save the new artery from the open heart but said he had 2 other good working ones. He's had some angina since but it seemed to be happening more frequently, thus the cardiac cath. So the good news is new no disease to the vessels. The new heart med is working great so now they can increase the dose and we'll hope and pray it does the trick.

With this being Thanksgiving week my swim classes are over and the pool is closed for 3 or 4 days. I am trying to figure out what I'm going to do to get my exercise in each day. Ideas folks?! I think I may focus on some strength work in addition to my walking. I haven't been doing much on weights or floor exercises of late so probably a good time to get back to it.

Well, hubby is getting showered and dressed and I told him we're going out for brunch so best I get myself cleaned up. It's a gorgeous day here in Charlotte, albeit 47 degrees. Daughter and DIL are meeting us for brunch too!!

Have a good one folks!

CALGALFOX: What fun to be moving into a new house and decorating. I'm beginning the planning for redecorating in our house. It's been a long time in between so I'll really a new color scheme and new furniture.

LMB-ESQ: What an adorable photo of your grandchild. She looks so happy! Does she live nearby you so you can see a lot of her? Hope so. I'll become a 1st time grandparent in February. I was out at the Southern Christmas Show and found some adorable baby items: security blanket, bib and burp cloth. We have a baby shower Dec 3rd so I bought a car seat as they need 2 with both of them working. I also bought a diaper bag they had on their registry. These two items will be for Christmas presents but I found a novel item--it's a soothing mat called Tranquilo. When turned on (operates with AA batteries) it has a range of sounds and vibrations to soothe baby. It has 2 different heartbeat sounds, several white noise type sounds and several vibration levels to choose from. My girlfriend had me order one for her grandchild who was born in September and both Grandma and Mommy LOVE this mat. I'm glad to get firsthand info on it. It just looked like something that might be helpful if baby needs soothing and just might allow them to all get some rest.

Girlfriend's DIL wrapped it around baby when holding him in her arms as he was fussing and he almost immediately stopped crying. Grandma said she took it home with her and mother is LOVING IT!! I hope it works as well for my family once baby arrives. We're calling him "Bean" for the moment. I told my DIL that's his nickname now.

HEATHHILL: You mention your husband and you are polar opposites but in what ways? You both must have some things in common to have found fun and attraction with each other as you married each other. Maybe looking at what it was you found attractive can help you in finding the balance again.

It comes down to points of view and acceptance of differences. Talking with each other about how you perceive a given behaviour may be enlightening. I have found this to work with my hubby and, at times, discovered I was seeing things really differently than he while other times my perceptions were on target. It makes discussing what's bothersome less of an attack if you come at it from the "help me to see it the way you do".

I've been married for 46 years. Some years are better than others but when you get through the rough patches, the marriage can become stronger. The relationship is a living thing that changes as you do. It's not static and if you can keep it flexible it will endure. I'll say some prayers for smoother waters for you. Seeking answers to how to make it work vs why am I feeling this way or that may help you to regain a balance. Hugs to you. It's not pleasant when you're arguing.

Little by little, Day by day, What is meant for you, WILL find its way.

I'm glad you worked through it...why not throw some pictures up and see if it works haha...the government put a lot of work into the study... That's what I mean about similar backgrounds, I grew up with 4 siblings, he with 5. Both of our dads were well respected scientists, liberal and Californians. I'm not saying it was always easy, we put the work in over the years and somewhere around the twentieth year it became a honeymoon phase again...which has just sort of stayed. Not that I'm saying it works for everyone, we're just very fortunate after being together 38 years to have grown closer with the passage of time.

Our kitchen for the current house comes today! I'm excited to do another Ikea kitchen, they're so fun! In the new house I'm going to strip the wood cabinets and either refinish them or have them professionally painted. I haven't decided yet. I do love a new project!

Wow, your granddaughter is beautiful!!!

I think we managed to work through it today. We are also fairly similar in our backgrounds, except for the family dynamic. His had two siblings growing up, and I'm an only child. Also, our parents couldn't have been more polar opposite in their philosophies on life (liberal vs. conservative essentially) so there's that. I lean a lot closer to his views, so it's not really that issue for us. He's a difficult person, and I'm not the only person who says that so.......I feel a tad vindicated there. I have a viscous temper sometimes, and it can be very ugly when I've had enough. So, this weekend I had had enough......and today I did some mending of feelings.

Carol, I can't wait to hear about your new house and pool! I'm sure you will be fixing it up very soon! And I like the idea of pictures brainwashing people. Maybe I should put up more pictures of my hubby next to my daughter. :)

Have a great night all!

Your grandbaby is super beautiful! But how did she get to be a year old already?! Another one on the way too! Congratulations!

Heather - Oh man, I feel for you! Tom and I are super different in our approach to "things", but not to life in general. We both come from about the same socio-economic, educational and family size background, which I think has helped tremendously.

I was just listening to a podcast where the military was trying PowerPoint slides with the hubbies picture, then a picture of cute bunnies, a picture of hubby, then one of pretty flowers. They found that it did a little brainwashing and made for happy thoughts toward the other. They found it helped with being away from each other. It was interesting.

It looks like we close on our new house (with a pool!!!) this Friday...if the loan underwriter doesn't come back with more junk they need - jeez, you'd think we were buying a mansion instead of a 1940's fixer upper! I'm excited not to commute anymore!

This weekend we have hubbies dad's 95th birthday! That is truly getting up there. AND, typical of his side of the family...we don't know what we're doing yet or how many people are coming. sigh

Wow, Heather, that really sucks... I'm so sorry! I hope you find a solution fast also.

I am super busy, one of my "up" periods. It's like feast or famine around here.

I have not been to the pool or really done any kind of exercise for a long time. I am just not feeling it. I'm trying to be careful what I eat, and it's hit or miss.

My grandbaby is beautiful :-) and now she has a baby sister coming at the end of March! So exciting!

This is her at her one year birthday!

Hi all!! I hope everyone had a great weekend. I had some fun and got some work done. It was pretty good.

Truthfully hubby and I are having a rough patch right now and are doing a lot of fighting. I hope we can work through it soon because it's unsettling how upset I am with him and our relationship. We have struggled a lot in our years together because I think fundamentally we are so different in our approach to life that we have a lot of trouble getting on the same page and moving forward.

On a lighter note, I sold some candles at the show yesterday, but I learned that I have to be more choosy about the venues at which I sell. This year has really been a learning experience for us so I chalk it up to another lesson learned! I can always look for the positive in every experience and learning what venues to choose is a good lesson.

So, it's another day here in the office and I'll do my best to contribute positively to this business.

Have a FUN and ACTIVE day!!!
