The President, who is also the owner, dictates the hours through the SVP of HR. He apparently can't deal with "confrontation" so he has her deal with these things with his direct reports. He works, when he comes to the office at all, about 3 hours a day.

The receptionist marks our times in and out of the building and reports that to HR, who then compares that to our time tracking system where we all put in days off. It's a tad archaic and old school mentality. I really bristle at it.

However, I was here at 8:30 and will be in place until 4:30! I'll roll with it........I suppose the up side is definitely that no one really works nights or weekends, ever.

Who is dictating your hours? That seems strange...though the 40 hours bit sounds good.

Sounds great Carol!

Today I was informed that I am no longer allowed to have any flexibility in my hours. I have to be here 8:30 to 4:30. Well, that sucks. I thought at least I could do 8 to 4.

So, I take the good with the bad, but that's really petty. God I miss the days of the crazy boss who may have been demanding, but was flexible with hours as long as the work was being done.

Time to keep growing that CPA practice!!!

They've buried the teams so deep that I don't think people have an easy time even finding us!

The new job is pretty awesome and I'm trying to hire one of my people here! The first day on the job my accounting manager quit and I actually think that's a good thing. She was a gossip monger...yuck.

The staff is already coming to me and telling me they are super happy with the changes and we're re-implementing the software to make it all run flawlessly. That, of course, is super fun for me. I'll write reports that show where on a map they are and how much they're making...it's going to be fun. AND I negotiated top dollar, so life is pretty darn good!

Yes, Laurie, lots of changes. I'm so sorry to hear about your ex. No matter what, it's still a huge change.

Our house is plugging along in escrow and we're getting pretty excited about returning it to its 1940s glory! haha

Laurie, that's right on the dot. You have to figure out where your market is and what price the market will bear and still allow you profit. We knew at first it would be a lot of investment for little return, but now we are starting to see returns on that time and money investment, and it's very exciting.

I'm actually a little sad we have trouble attracting new folks, but I like this forum for myself and my friends here. So, we're down to like 4 people who check regularly. That's OK. It's a nice place to be able to get some support and vent and share really honest stuff with a few great folks who care about each other. You know we're very open to new people, but I just don't think this team format is very useful to a lot of people anymore. Time marches on as you say.......

Well, if there's anyone new who wants to say hi and jump in with us, please do!! New conversations are always welcome!!

I just finished reading last week's thread. It makes me sad to think of us (well, really the two of you) as the last of the bunch. I read, I just don't post much. Actually, none of the Spark groups I belonged to are active anymore, except this one.

Kids turning 30? New jobs with less commute? New houses? New business ventures? Wow... yes, time has flown.

My oldest turned 30 this year too. And gave me a grandbaby, with a second on the way! My ex passed away, my son is buying his house. Time just marches on, doesn't it.

I'm slowly but surely getting used to working out of my house. It's really feast or famine. I have nothing at all going on this week or next, but my November is already full. Speaking of commutes, my commute is SUPER LONG... I just roll out of bed and walk across the hall! LOL, can't beat that.

Heather, your hubby makes beautiful stuff. I imagine with the right audience, he'd sell a lot. My former SIL is an artist on the fair circuit and she sells a lot too. I think it's knowing which fairs to pick, which takes time and experimentation. She is also a college art professor, so she has both to count on for her income.

Good Morning everyone!! I hope you all had a great weekend and maybe some of you even got to swim!!

My hubby had an extraordinary weekend at the craft fair and sold so much stuff!! Now he has to quickly build more stuff for this upcoming weekend. Maybe we've finally turned the corner on this little business!! It's encouraging to have people actually buy the products!!

Now I have to try to focus at this paying job I have. :) Lots to do here. Things are moving positively for us, and that's a nice thing. The last few years have been challenging. We always knew if we just kept pushing forward with as positive an attitude as we could muster that we would reach a level of success and a little bit of an even keel for a while. Yippee!!

Have a FUN and ACTIVE day and week!!!!
