Great points Carol. It does seem like a lot of people aren't very interested in thinking......

You know...you've been through 9/11 and you have a kid. You are sensitive and every year you re-visit the pain you have about 9/11. Should we discount you because you get emotional over these situations? I don't think so. I'm so, so glad it was a stranger that reached out and tried to turn your world upside down! If it was a friend, I would be supportive in ousting them! Just remember that a not all of the population is engaged in thinking.

Yay Carol!!! I'm SO happy for you!!! That was fast! I guess it's a perfect fit. It's so nice that you found a great new job!

I'm having a little trouble focusing today. I'll share here, because I know I won't get any stupid responses like I did on FB yesterday (long story). Essentially I've just been edgy since this mass shooting on Sunday. Yes, I know I wasn't there, and yes I know I am in more danger driving my car everyday than I am from an incident like that occurring to me, but still, the non-stop coverage was making me feel edgy. So I stopped following the news, and also I decided to share some of my stress in a FB group that I belong to for moms. So I shared some of my feelings about it, especially my irrational fear that something violent would happen in my daughter's school someday, and got a few very nice supportive comments. Then I got one, from a total stranger no less, who told me I needed therapy and that feelings like I was expressing needed to be dealt with by a professional. She said a lot more than that, but that was the gist of it. So, I responded a bit heatedly to her, and then I just deleted the whole post. And then I stopped following the group, which I found kind of dumb in the first place.

Anyway, today I got an email from the school about a security alert. The police are involved with investigating social media posts between kids at our high school and two others that indicate some kind of brawl is possibly going to happen this weekend. It started with a social media post of some guy from our school putting up a picture of himself with a gun. So, maybe my fear isn't so unfounded after all. I'm not saying anything specific is going to happen, but I'm just sensing so much anger and hatred and it scares me a bit. And I live in a place where there are a lot of guns.

The homecoming game is tonight. I would bet there will be a lot of cops there. I sure hope so. It's so sad that we can't even go and enjoy the game without some fear of attack. Ugh. Guess I'll be as close to my baby cheerleader as I can tonight.

Please don't bother telling me that rationally there's really not much chance anything will happen to her or anyone else at the school. I know that rationally. I keep telling myself that. You guys know I'm fairly rational and intelligent. And yet, sometimes I'm a bit overwhelmed with fear of the unknown. Because, you know, I'm human.

Thanks for letting me get this out here. I honestly have no other place publicly that I can go for this support.

And, now the day goes on and I'm off to a sales meeting..... :)

Seems like most pools in California are outside and they don't close...at least it's that way on the coast. I'm sure northeastern California is a different animal. Sometimes I am amazed by the size of my state! From my house it's 7 hours, both north and south to get out of California and 5 hours going east.

If we move a little south, one of the houses we are looking at has a pool! Another one has a stream and I was talking about damning enough to make a swimming hole.

Woohoo! 10,526 steps yesterday. Plus, I got to ride again. I've started back on the horse as my schedule has finally returned to something resembling stability. I'm so excited!

Of course, I'd love to figure out how to get swimming back in the mix, but that might need to wait a little longer......the timing on getting to the pool would mean I'd have to be in the water just as the Y opens at 5 (the Y is a half hour drive from my house!), and then done and on the road by 5:45 to get ahead of the traffic to work. I'm not sure I'm quite ready for that! One step at a time......

So it's another day of work and then home to work on my business. Life is good......

How's everyone else doing? Has everyone shifted to swimming inside? Or are you Californians able to swim outside all year!!??

Have a great day everyone.

Nice! Get walking!

Yeah, the company that I interviewed with are pillars in the industry and just all around good people. I have enjoyed this job a lot and have loved the work...the management...not so much. It will mean delaying retirement, but we'll see how it goes. It also means moving again haha. We looked at houses this past weekend and have three on our radar. I love buying new houses!

Good Morning everyone! I hope you all had a great weekend! I did fantastic at my craft fair and I sold two cases of candles. That might not sound like a lot, but the table only cost $35 so I made a killing! And yesterday I met with one of my two clients. I need to get them settled along with my other client, then I am going to start marketing to see if I can get a few more business clients.

The full time job is nice as well. They are just decent professional people with normal expectations of work. It sure is nice for a change!

We are doing a step challenge here at work for the next three weeks. We have teamed up with a buddy and we are all tracking on pedometers provided by work. It's very nice! I don't really need to win anything, but I like the idea of the challenge. It will help me focus even more on my exercise.

So, the pedometer is all set up and now all I have to do is walk!

Have a FUN and ACTIVE day!!!
