Seems like it would be nice to retire from a fun job! I hope that recruiter works her tail off for you!! Yay!

It was a great interview! They are looking for someone exactly like me. Now I'll just have to see what kind of money they think I'm worth. I have a headhunter working for me and of course, the more they offer me the more she makes. This would probably delay my retirement...but it would be a very fun job.

Yay Carol!!! Best of luck, although I don't think you actually need much luck. I hope it's a great fit and you enjoy the interview. I love interviewing!

Being married to an artist, I have a total feel for your conversation. My husband does fine pen and ink work. foxartistry.com/ He does limited number prints that he customizes. It pokes along, but he could do a lot more and when we retire we'll definitely look at it.

I would like to do art fairs again. I used to do them when the kids were young. One that I was into for a while was Renaissance festivals. I would do inexpensive fun headpieces with puffy velvet, wrapped with beads or ribbon and sparkly tails of curled ribbon and stuff. I sold them very cheaply to get people in and I also had small boy capes and mother/daughter ren dresses...stuff like that. There are enough good ren fairs here that I could come close to making a living. It sure helped out financially when the kids were young.

We took our new truck tent and mattress for a spin this past weekend and camped at Sonoma Lake. It was so much fun! One of my close friends just bought a house there so we went to go visit. It turns out the lake has some "boat in only" campsites! We're going to figure out taking our kayaks with dry sacks and backpacking gear to kayak in. We also found out that there's the Korbel winery and tasting room on our way home, so we stopped and tried some different champagnes and had a lovely salad lunch outside in the warm air with massive redwood trees around.

Jen, the life of an artist is definitely a challenge. You have to really hustle to find buyers and it's kind of a relentless struggle between the art and the business. Prints are infinitely more sellable than oils. My hubby gave up years ago trying to sell actual sculptures, which is what his MFA is in, and started sculpting lamps and candle holders. We have some new ones this fall, and I sure hope at the more high end shows we can move a few of them.

I wish very much I had a pool, but truth is I'm so busy I'd never use it anyway......but when it's this hot it really seems like it would be nice to take a dip in the evening after work. Maybe someday......

Warm September indeed! For whatever reason the outdoor pool at the y is open till October 1st this year, and I've been loving it. The past two weekends I've gotten good long swims and stocked up on some sun exposure lol. I swam last night too, and I'll get at least one more in before it's back indoors for the season.

Heather, that's great that the fairs are going well! I'm having my paintings photographed this weekend so I can go about getting prints made. Original oil paintings are a stretch but I'm hoping I might have a market for some prints.

Hi everyone!! I hope you all had a nice weekend. Mine was super fun and busy, just the way I like it!

The one thing that is lagging right now is exercise. I'm finding it hard to fit it into the day. So I'm going to have to start walking at lunchtime. I'll try again to also work out in the evening, but I think the only time I'm going to have consistently is at lunch. I even have an office that's big enough that if I wanted to do yoga in here at lunch, I could definitely do that. As long as I'm not jumping up and down, which I don't do anyway usually, I could work out in here. I just have to work this back into my life. I'm too important to let this weight creep back on me!

Our craft fair was great for sales of candles, but not as much on sales of lamps or candle holders. We know this one is usually a challenge, as our prices are a bit steep for the area. So we went home Saturday night and devised a strategy to make lamps we can be proud of, but at a lower price so we can sell them! We really want to sell our beautiful products and get them into people's homes at an affordable price. So, we keep going on our mission.

It's about time for lunch for me, so off I go into the unbelievable September heat wave we are having! Hopefully it cools off soon!

Have a FUN and ACTIVE week!!
