She's been dancing since she was 5 and competing since she was 8. She's become a lot more focused on doing really well in the last three years. Thank you for watching and the nice compliment!! :)

Hi CALGALFOX! I have been dreaming of the "perfect" weather place for me so maybe it is California! emoticon Good luck with your job search.

Wow, Heather! She is very talented for being so young. How long has she being dancing? I hope she can keep doing this for a long time since it is also a great way to exercise. Thanks for sharing! emoticon

I am doing okay. Feel kind of blah due to physical pain (chronic pain is tiring) but still have my goals here in SP. Soon I will be able to swim again!

LOVE, CHELSEA

I finally figured out how to share my daughter's dance videos....now I have no delusions that you will watch both all the way through, but one is her solo and the other is her musical theatre group where she has the lead role. Enjoy!!

Chelsea, I'm coughing too. Ride in an airplane = catch a cold (sigh). I can't live in cold, snowy places...or hot humid places...I'm just that spoiled. I grew up in Santa Barbara, CA and am now living Half Moon Bay, CA and I think about moving other places...but then I think about being cold or hot and end up staying.

We are talking about a potential move to Peru next year and I think that would be worthwhile. We were just in Bali for 17 days to see if we'd like to move there, but I think I'd just like to do extended stays there.

Lapparoo - Just keep doing your 10 to 11 laps and you'll find that it will get easier. It sounds like you've got someone coaching you and that's great. It's amazing how a six month look-back is when it comes to swimming if you just keep at it.

Heather - With each year older Sydney gets, she'll get further away from the mean-girl thing. Dancing is such a great outlet! The program she's going to sounds great! One of our Spain kids who was from a small town used to go to leadership/political camps and it really helped shape him as a person so I'm excited for her to go down that kind of path! Our boy, who is now in college is super independent, happy and a leader.

This weekend I'm going to dust off my resume and start sending it out! I think I'm going to tilt it towards manufacturing and get out of the agricultural industry. I'm worth more in ag...but I just need 14 more months of income.

I want to get relocated to the Monterey county area so that I can get back to a pool! This has been so hard not having one up here in Half Moon Bay. The ocean is right across the street but has a nasty undertow here.

HEATHHILL, jealousy is ugly indeed. Glad that your daughter is okay. She is learning new skills for living! emoticon And I also lost 20 lbs last year, the most I have in 10 years. It was slow going but I did it. This year, like you, I am still working on it but I changed my goals around some to hopefully lose a little bit more. That's why I restarted SP again and so far, going well.

LAPPEROO, it is great to have that kind of feedback! You will do so great. The best to you with your goals.

And Heather, it sounds like you live in the NE USA! I used to live in CT and graduated from college there. My dream move was to VT or NH someday but I don't know if I can handle that kind of cold again. Both states are so beautiful. I now live in humid/hot Florida and I don't like it much.

I haven't been swimming yet with the bronchitis/coughing but I am slowly getting better and hope to swim again next week. For now I am doing the short SP video clips and I am enjoying that. Have a great weekend everybody! emoticon

Lapperoo, good for you!!! We've seen many people start with only a few laps and build to be good swimmers. We even have a member who started out with real fear of the water who now has become a swim instructor. She did it one small step at a time. Just keep on going and set small goals! Build success from there!!

I believe I have landed my second client! I met with them last night and we all seemed like we could pretty easily agree on fees and work and that makes me very happy!!

I'm so excited for the weekend. We are going to VT on Saturday and then dropping Sydney off at Dartmouth in NH for a week long medical careers camp. She's never been away from home that long before!!! I'm glad it's a very structured program and that she'll be with other high achievers. She has to get out of our small town where there are something like 4 or 5 really great students in her class and be exposed to the fact that there are a lot of top students out there. I hope she makes some good connections for support and friendship!!

I hope everyone has a great day!! Stay cool and hydrated!!!

Swim class today I did 10 or 11 laps in the pool. Instructor wasn't happy with my strokes today. By the end he told me it was getting a bit better. It was a workout today!

Hi! It's actually the same dance school, we just have moved on from interacting with the few nasty girls. Now, she just focuses on dance and the nicer people. Jealousy is ugly and makes people act in ugly ways. There's not much we can do about it other than do our best to be pleasant and focus on the performances.

I lost 20 pounds last year and I never walked faster than 2.4 mph on the treadmill. I just watched my calorie intake, drank my water, and worked out for at least 30 and often 60 minutes every day. It's what I'm doing again now!

Heather, I know that the school your daughter was in before, she was harassed there. I am SO happy that she is doing so well where she is now! emoticon And the "steady" part of our journey here that you mentioned? SO important! I can't walk more than 24-26 mph because of my bad knees but I am learning that that is okay. It is a steady thing I do almost daily and it is slowly paying of. I joined this team to encourage me to swim more since it is easier on my knees. Have a wonderful day everyone! emoticon

Hi all!! My food tracking continues and my exercise, although not setting any world records, continues steadily. As with everything in life, this is the recipe for success. Consistency!!

The 2018 competition dance season officially kicked off yesterday (yes, I know the 2017 season just ended last Friday! There's no rest for the weary) and one of the dances the school does is called "production". It is literally just a measure of the number of dancers in the number. Our dance school always does a musical theatre number where they take a broadway show and condense it into about 6 minutes. This year the number is "Charlie and the Chocolate Factory" and my daughter has been cast as Willy Wonka!!! I'm so thrilled!!! I can't wait to see it. Of course I won't actually see it until February!!! Ahhhh!!!

Tonight I meet with a potential client. I'm very excited!!!

It's gonna be a scorcher here today. If you are in the same kind of heat we are here in NJ, then please make sure to take care of yourself.

Have a great day!!!

Jen, when you business takes off and you need help with your bookkeeping and accounting, just let me know! :)

By the end of the month I'll have a website you can look at! I checked out Laurie's site, and mine is going to be similar, but different too!

Today is the board meeting and so I'm ready for my part. I still don't have a lot to contribute, but I have a little bit I can add, and also I am able to listen and learn, so that's a good thing!

Life, for the first time in a long time, is going well on all fronts. I'm enjoying that while I can!

I was back on the treadmill last night. And I had a light dinner. Woo hoo!!

Hi folks :) welcome to the group, lapperoo!

Persistence is a virtue! I had to wait out the thunderstorms last night but was rewarded with a quiet pool and a good 1600 yard swim.

I did some henna at a bar event this weekend, and had some questions about doing appointments at a local tattoo shop and massage therapist. So that's an avenue that I'll explore to get my business rolling! I made a little bit of spending money for the weekend while I was at it :)

Slow and steady is the win! emoticon

My challenge the last week or so has been bronchitis and severe tendinitis for 3 days. I could hardly move the arm at all. emoticon Feeling better today and I am grateful. I haven't quit my goals; just adapted them. Hopefully I will be able to swim again soon.

LOVE, CHELSEA

HEATHHILL, I so much enjoyed your reading. Problems are part of life and it is great to see how, if we hang in there and don't quit, things can work out. I am so happy for you and your family. I hope this success continues for a long time for all of you. emoticon

I am doing okay myself. I struggled yesterday with my nutrition and fitness goals. I am using today as a new start for myself and keep going. It is not easy lately due to physical limitations but I also know that SP has sitting exercises so I can still do my best.

Have a great day everybody! emoticon

Good Morning! I love the date, it's so cool to have all of those 7s!

I hope everyone had a great weekend!!

I'm back in the office after my few days off, and I'm happy to be here. I really like my job and my team.

The dance competition was a success!! Sydney placed third overall in the teen soloist division. I would guess there were at least 100 soloists, so that's pretty cool. She also won the Broadway Bound award which the judges give to one dancer out of all of them (maybe 500 in the whole teen/senior division) who they think have the special qualities that would make them successful on Broadway. I was so stunned and proud, I couldn't stop crying. I mean, I wasn't bawling, but I was pretty emotional. She works so hard and it was gratifying to see her rewarded for it.

And, yesterday I landed my first client!! It's a small client, which is great so I can start small. But, this one client will cover my website hosting costs (plus a little more), so that's great. I'm working on landing the second client this week.

I have to say that the last three years have been really difficult for me and my family. We lost both of my husband's parents within a year of each other, my company was bought, I struggled to keep my job, I got laid off, found a horrible job then got laid off again, my daughter was ostracized from her former friend group at dance, and we started my husband's business, which was exciting but very stressful. Now, in the last few months, I got a job I love, I'm building my business, my kid has a really nice group of friends at school and she's doing great in class and at dance, my husband is starting to get traction with his business, and overall life has improved quite a bit. It's nice to feel like we've come through a stormy time with stronger bonds in our family and with a strength we can use to face the next batch of storms that come our way.

Now, I have to get the rest of the weight off!!! New goals!!

Have a FUN and ACTIVE week!!!
