Absolutely keep going no matter what!! The long term is what matters and so don't let a little weekly set back give you any kind of excuse to give up! You've got this and we are here with you!

Hi everyone again. emoticon

I did daily 10 min. video clips, walked 30 minutes 5 days a week and tracked all my food. I did it all sick. And gained 3 lbs. emoticon So I decided to do what I tell everyone to do: to keep going no matter what. So, I will keep going. emoticon

That sounds great, CALGALFOX! I can't wait to see the photos. And thanks for your support.

I haven't been swimming lately between being sick and the heat but have been walking and doing the short video clips here in SP to stay active. I am looking forward to a quiet weekend.

Chelsea, yes, we have an underwater camera! If I can find them, I'll post some shark pictures that I took in Tahiti, or some of this trip once I go through them. Most of our vacations are to warm water locations with pretty fish and coral...we have our standards lol. I'm 56 and got hit by a car (breaking 36 bones) when I was young. They expect I'll need knee and hip replacements before I'm sixty. I'm okay right now and I want to put any surgeries off as long as possible.

Jen - What I coach people to do when they are thinking about a career switch is to go through and figure out exactly what your monthly expenses are so that you know the minimum you need to make. Then, if you want to start your own business, search the Internet for a simple business plan form and go through and fill it out. If you hit items that you don't know what to do with, see if there is a SCORE group that can help you. www.score.org/?gclid=CjwKEAj

I am also always happy to review and help with business plans.

A business plan is the easiest way to start because it will help you hone and focus on what you want to do. Once you have a business plan, it's a good idea to have goals with achievement dates. I suggest the upcoming date be posted in writing on your fridge.

My daughter just jumped off a cliff with her working life. She quit the Monterey Bay Aquarium in their PR department to take a part time job with Wanderlust in their events department. (Wanderlust does large yoga events.) She wants to build her own yoga events company and this was a great way to do it. She has a great plan and she's doing it. I think it's awesome.

That's a very powerful thing to know about yourself, JAHINTZY. Most of us just keep working in misery. I recently quit my job to have a knee replacement (possibly two) and maybe even back surgery, and I hope after that that I will be able to find a job that I enjoy without putting undue stress on my body. I wish everyone of you looking of new jobs the best. emoticon

Hi folks :)

I just read back through your responses last week and I really appreciate all the thoughtful advice! It's hard when I feel like most who are closest to me look and say 'you have a steady job and a decent paycheck, what more do you want' but as you guys said that satisfaction only goes so far. And Laurie is so right about the razor thin margins of printing. Lately it's been bosses saying that were slow and need to do more work but I'm chasing my tail all day feeling like I'm barely keeping up.

So I've updated my resume and will start to look for part time or work at home jobs so that I can start to transition more into self employment.

Aside from all that, I saw my doc yesterday and all is well. My weight is back up to where it had been before I started spark, but my vitals are good and as long as I'm staying active she's not worried about the number on the scale, so I'm going to try not to worry about it either.

I've been in Dad's pool a lot lately, cleaning it for him while he recovers from hurting his back. We're in the heat of the summer here, so any excuse to be in water and I'm there!

Hi CALGALFOX! Wouldn't be great if you could take underwater photos? That would be an amazing souvenir of your vacation. And as far as moving to a new state, go for it! I have lived in seven different states in my life (I am 54) for new opportunities and have never been sorry. I live in Florida now and my dream now is to move to either Oregon or Washington State. I would love to live in Colorado but with asthma, that weather isn't good for me. I need humidity.

Heather, I hope you don't go back to your old job. I would feel good (actually great) if the people who didn't appreciate me (or fired me) called me and told me they had made a mistake and to go back. Enjoy the great working environment that you have now and good luck during the competition.

No swimming for me lately due to this cold. I feel blessed because I always get asthmatic bronchitis within 24 hours of a cold and not this time! Yay! I am doing the fun 10 minute clips here in SP to keep up and doing a little bit of walking daily.

Have a lovely evening everybody. emoticon

Woo hoo! If they call, you'll be in the driver's seat and may choose not to drive! This is awesome on lots of levels! My last company that I left because of the insanity and greed of the owner just recently filed for bankruptcy...I'm just so glad that I left!

Now I'm working on my resume because I need another 14 months of wages and insurance, but I don't think I want to stay here. I'm looking at other counties and states since I don't have to live anywhere in particular. I saw an interesting job in Texas! (I'm in California). I need to get my art studio built so that I can move all of our furniture into that if we decide to go elsewhere. I asked my husband what he thought and he said it sounded like fun...what a perfect mate I have!

For my longtime friends here, I have a story! For others, you may just not quite get the full impact of it, but I'll try.

As you may recall (I'm sure you do!), I got laid off last year from the company where I worked for 15 years (C3i). We were bought and almost two years into the transition the parent company's controller resigned and I interviewed for but didn't get the job as the Controller. So, the CFO hired his friend in April and I got laid off in May 2016. Mayhem ensued. The Controller and the CFO really had no idea how the business that was acquired worked and the brain trust that ran it was slowly depleted, so that eventually last January the President of the parent company "retired" and the President of the company I worked for (C3i) took over as President of the combined company. Fast forward to yesterday when I found out that the Controller gave his two week notice. He barely made it 14 months.

AR is a disaster. No one knows how to make the billing in SAP work and no one knows how to apply cash properly. No one knows how to work with and get the international VP of Finance to communicate with the US staff. In fact, the guy who resigned gave up about three months ago and said he just wasn't going to work with her anymore!! He was hired because of his SAP and international experience. Hahahahahaha!!!

Had this happened two months ago I would have been so excited to go back to C3i. But now, I have this new job that I like and that is normal. Regular hours, good staff, great system, and no weekend or late hours ever. So, now I wait to see if they even reach out to me. And I have the power here, so let's see what happens. Ultimately I think there's almost nothing that could get me to go back there........too little, too late.

So, on another note, today I leave after work for three days at a dance competition in Wildwood NJ. Beach, dance, pool, boardwalk, dinner at nice restaurants, yay!!! I'm very excited.

Gotta go get some work done!! It's a bit hard to focus today, but I can do it!!

Yeah, swimming with a cold just doesn't quite work. I hope you get over it quickly!

Have fun on your time off Heather! I know I sure had fun!

I got in so much swimming AND with pretty fish in warm water...what could be better? On one of the little islands in Indonesia, it was like swimming in a fish tank because there were so many fish!

Good morning everyone! Hello HEATHHILL! Glad your job is great and that you are back on your goals. I just restarted my SP goals and the real test for me will be when my schedule gets crazy or I get sick, etc., and how to keep things going forward. Have fun at your vacation!

I have a bad cold, starting today, so I will probably just go for a walk instead of swimming.

LOVE, CHELSEA

Good Morning everyone!! I'm here in the office for two days, then off for three days at the beach! Well, we're also going to a dance competition, so I won't really be able to relax all that much until it's over on Friday, but it's still fun time out of the office with my family, so that's cool!!

I'm back on track with the eating and the exercising. It was harder to stay on track with the job change and the vacation in May, but there's really no excuse for not getting right back on track! I've been recording most of my food the last two weeks, and that definitely helps keep me aware of what I'm doing to help my health.

I really like my new company. The stress level is completely acceptable. No weird control issues have surfaced yet. And no unethical behavior is accepted here at all. Phew.

Have a FUN and ACTIVE week!!!
