Yeah Heather, you're in the honeymoon stage for sure! But there's nothing better than having a professional staff. My life at this job is crazy, but the accounting isn't because my staff handles it all.

Jen - Definitely do it at Pennsic!

I'm in Taipei! We're on a layover and we'll fly into Bali by 3pm this afternoon...which I think is the next day for you guys! I'm sooooo excited! The twelve hour flight really wasn't too bad. We have another five to go. No sleep for me...but I will when I get there.

Hi all!! It's Friday! Woo hoo!!!! I'm leaving early today due to the recital, and no one here seems to think that's a big deal at all. It's so nice to be treated professionally again. :)

I'm really looking forward to the next few weeks. I feel like a normal person again who can go to work and get the work done, then leave and not have it follow me every waking moment. I don't think I realized how stressful the last two jobs were. Well, I knew the last place stunk, but the one where I was for 15 years was a ton more stressful than I knew.

I know I'm still new here and it won't always be quite so easy, but having a professional staff that is able to get their work done in a reasonable amount of time makes doing what I have to do so much easier. I think I forgot that over the last few years.........

We have recital this weekend, family visiting for 4th of July, and our national dance competition the week after that. And this nice company gives us July 3 and 4 as paid holiday and they also gave me extra paid leave as an accommodation when I started so I can take off a few days to go to nationals. Carol, you always said as an executive I should get that kind of consideration and I think I never quite saw that as something I deserved. It's nice not to even have to ask but to be given something generous for once.

So I'm gonna do my best to enjoy dancing on stage this weekend and not feel too sick. :)

Have a great weekend!!!!

Hehehe Heather, I'm a ham - I love performing once I get over my nerves. Maybe I'll aim to perform at Pennsic again this year :)

I couldn't get to my y last night on account of a swim meet taking up the entire parking lot. Can't go inside if I can't park my car! I'm annoyed at how that particular facility handles their scheduling. Luckily there's 2 others nearby. I ended up going on a run/walk through my neighborhood instead. Not as easy to track, but better than nothing.

There's a gallery opening tonight so I won't have much time to work with. Maybe tomorrow I'll get a workout in before I go home from work.

Hi all! We had our final rehearsal last night for dance recital. This one was on the stage where we perform. I really don't love the performance part of the dancing very much. My daughter watched and said I looked bored. I think I probably am bored by it. I do like the exercise and the weekly classes but getting on stage just doesn't make me too happy. Maybe next year I'll take a break from it, not sure yet.....

But regardless of whether I'm excited or not, I'll smile and project energy when the performance actually happens. We perform Friday night, twice Saturday, and once Sunday afternoon. Busy weekend coming up!

I hope everyone else is doing great. I'm going now to research the Y website to see about joining again. Yay!!

Hi! I should have looked more closely to see you had already started the thread Carol! Glad you found me and brought me back to the right one!!

So far, so good here at the job. I'm enjoying the people and getting to know them. Of course personalities will start showing up soon and it will be more of a challenge, but hey, I'm enjoying the honeymoon phase!!

I really am gonna look into swimming again. My life is actually settling down to what it was like about 5 years ago. Phew.

Have a great day all!!

Heather - Definitely go for the Y membership! I really miss my Y in Santa Maria. It had the perfect pool and sauna and it was 5 minutes away from my work and across the street from my husband's work. sigh...I wish there was a pool here. There is one in Salinas and that's where I'm looking to get a new job so hopefully that will work out.

From Heather:

Hi all! Well, I was so busy at my new job I totally forgot to post this up yesterday. So far, I'm super happy in my job. The place is very professional and normal. I know that there will be stress as I get more into the job, but it's clearly a positive workplace and not toxic like the last one. Thank goodness!!

I'm getting ready for the dance recital this weekend. We have some rehearsals and I'm also practicing at home. Dance is great exercise!!

I'm contemplating a summer membership at the Y to get back in the pool. I may feel comfortable about being able to spend that money now that I'm in a more stable place professionally.

Oooh thunderstorms sound wonderful. We don't get those very often here. One of the fun things about living further north is we at least get more rain here. How fun to bike ride with your dad! My dad and I used to run together sometimes and that was nice. We did a ridge trail (straight up and straight down) once and on the way down he narrowly missed trodding on a baby rattlesnake!

Hello hello :)

sounds like a wonderful trip, Carol!

No swimming tonight, heavy heavy thunderstorms here. But planning a bike ride with my Dad on Wednesday.

Woo hoo - this Friday I leave for Indonesia! I can't wait! Lots and lots of swimming in warm water with pretty fish for two whole weeks! It just doesn't get any better than that!

How are you guys doing this week?
