Lynn - So great to "see" you! I have a goggle snorkel and I wondered how it would be without a mask and no nose plug...but the body seems to know it would be dumb to breathe through your nose underwater. I got mine because I can only breathe on one side because of a broken up shoulder...then I hurt the other one, so to keep swimming I bought one of those. It worked so great that I bring it traveling with my shorty swim fins when I go to warm water places.

Like Bali next month!!! I can't wait to go to Bali!

We are talking retirement next year, which would also be early for me. We are considering moving to Bali, Peru or maybe Costa Rica for a year or so.Everything is pretty up in the air at the moment.

Jen - I'm lovin' the art! When we finish our new art studio I will start back up on doing some stained glass that I have in my head. You gotta have the artistic side going!

Heather - I'm excited to hear how the interview went on Friday!

Make it work however you can!

Congratulations to your son, Lovely wedding picture!

Heather, that's a pretty nice little site. I used Squarespace, my idea is not so much to make sales but to encourage custom project scheduling. I got it up and running with some images and content, I'll keep plucking away at adding things like basic pricing, my artist's statement, bio, and curated images.

Mother's day running around here... We have 3 Moms to visit so it's usually a long day.

Second attempt at swimming....still a struggle. Better if I just stare at the bottom of the pool and not turn my head to breathe. Have to breathe of course....but it's better just breathing on the right. I ordered one of those lap head snorkels and will swim that way for a while.

Hope all you moms out there have a very special MaMa's Day!!!!!

Good Morning Swim Friends.... It's been ions!!!! Just checking in and always hope I continue....then get distracted, yadda, yadda.....

Haven't been able to swim for about a year! Rotator Cuff impingement issue.... So I'm in Physical Therapy in hopes to get it fixed. I miss it SO much! PLUS....I gained 3 inches around my waist since stopping!!!!! So....the P.T. had me try and swim Wednesday as it appeared we made significant progress. NOT GOOD! Still too painful. I was SO discouraged! I see her today. We'll see what she says!

Other than that....all is well. Son just got married last weekend. I'll be celebrating retirement anniversary of two years next month (retired on the early side).

Glad to see some familiar faces as well as some new ones!

Have a great day and hope you all are still swimming....or being active in some way.

Lynn.....Remember me? Son's wedding photo...

Heather - I love my work, just not my "job". We have people in positions that they are not qualified for ... and it's from the top - down. I've been spending a bunch of time doing "process improvement" meetings...trying to get people to understand their jobs...but it's not really working.

Gor - That's an awesome new road to be heading down. I haven't figured out what I want to be when I grow up...but retirement for me will mean starting a new business, doing something, somewhere in the world - haha. Maybe I'll just never grow up! I'm debating dropping my master's program...I am super indecisive at the moment.

I'm going to a week long training on some new software which I'm super excited about. After I get back from that I will start a job search. I have a headhunter that I've touched base with and will probably go that route. I'm in no hurry. I should do it soon if I'm going to retire next year because it won't leave me that long at the new company.

Hi! Ooh. A weekly posts! Changes in job situations. It sounds good....I quit my job last August. 23 years of tech was enough...now I am on the road to teaching. I consider it a graduated retirement....because...the pay. Luckily we are good savers and husband still has the tech gig and we have no debt....changing gears is not easy, but it sure is an adventure.....I am back in school (which I enjoy) searching for a 'university internship' teaching job...which is a long drawn out process with a school district and if it all works according to plan I will have my credential in a year.

I am also working on my water safety instructor cert...which I hope to use during the summers to help people learn to love the water....

What I do now has very little to do with $ and it's all heart and I love that I have the opportunity to be in this position now...

good luck with the website, job searches, and retirement plans...

Carol, it sounds like you are in a pretty great place, except for that one more high income year you need. I'm guessing you're not loving the current job, hence the quandary. I feel your pain. One year of a miserable job is difficult. One day of a miserable job is difficult! But, I know this for sure. You will make a great decision and end up in a good place.

I'm losing the 8 pounds or so I put on with that last job. Being at home makes it one heck of a lot easier to eat well and exercise.

I applied for a job with a senior living company as an Area Controller, and they got back to me within the hour with a follow up email. Hopefully I can set up a phone interview today and a possible in person interview soon. I have an in person interview tomorrow with a snack company, and I have a final interview with the carpenters union on Friday. Pray for me they offer enough for me to take that job, because the security of it and the amazing benefits make it super attractive to me.

In the meantime I keep trying to stay as organized as possible. The other great thing about being laid off is I am super cheap about food, which means no eating out at all and lots of veggies and beans, etc. Gotta be healthy, and that kind of eating really supports that.

Have a great day everyone!!

Yeah, doing your own web page and getting yourself out there is a good thing!

I'm in a quandary myself. I need one more high-income year to pay off one of our rental houses, then we'll be pretty much set. Next year I want to move to ... Peru, Costa Rica, Bali... somewhere, maybe several somewheres.

I need to make an appointment with a retirement planner to look at our plan and tell us their opinion on maybe retiring next year. We could go travel for a year and then start a cottage industry kind of business. Our house costs us next to nothing and if we move somewhere inexpensive and rent out our house, we'll probably make money on the deal.

Jen, I know there are tons of website builders, but bigcartel.com is geared toward artists. We use it and the site looks pretty good, I think. Take a look if you are interested www.fallingwoodstudio.com

If I can help at all with practicalities, let me know! I'm always happy to help a friend!!

Hi folks :)

On to a fresh week! I plan to hit the pool tonight, I did a lot of walking and standing over the weekend and my legs are still feeling it. Looking forward to some low impact exercise.

Good sales hooray! I'm an owner of my very own domain name now :) getting my little art business a little more momentum. I'll start building a site this week, I'll be sure to share once it's up.

Amanda, I just got a moov now tracker and so far so good - it keeps track of your lap counts, lap times and stroke counts per lap. I don't quite trust the stroke counts yet but the lap counts have been accurate for me so far. It's neat that it recognizes your stroke type too although it's been less than accurate so far (I swim exclusively breast stroke but it will still log a few laps as freestyle)

Good Monday morning all!!! I had a GREAT weekend! I sold a bunch of candles at the vendor fair. I think this bodes well for sales going into the vendor fairs I'm doing in the next month or so. I'm so excited to be building our own business!!

Also being freed of that horrible job I had is letting me take better care of myself again. My husband said to me yesterday that I look 20 years younger than I did three weeks ago. That job was killing me. I'm eating well and exercising hard again. Yay!!!

I'm also still pursuing job leads and also working to establish some connections for accounting work. And I have a final interview on Friday for the job I really want. So, fingers crossed it's a good week!!

Have a FUN and ACTIVE week!!!
