Kourtney, you take all the time you need!!! Come and vent here when you need to. Heaven knows I do!!

One thing at a time. I'm so sorry work is so bad. I admit I don't know why it's so bad for you right now, I seem to have missed something. But I can certainly relate....... :)

Evening all! Just popping in to wave hello. I've been eating well for a few days now, hoping to take that momentum and keep it going through the holidays (and also get in more swimming).

Work is freaking awful right now, but 1 more day then I'm off for a 4 day weekend. That sounds so, so nice.

I hope to be back on tomorrow or maybe the day after. Thank you for being patient while I re-immerse myself here and come out of the shadows.

xoxo

Thanks Carol for the suggestions. I was leaning towards Cambria but honey says we have been there which is funny because he usually forgets everything. I think he is confusing it with something else. I. Dont know how far out of the way it is, but I want to see Manzanar. I know there isnt anything there really, but for the historical reasons It might be worthy of a looksie....

Gl in the pool Laurie.

Wow Heather you have a lot to consider. Best wishes.

Today I plan to swim and that means I will surpass my goal for the year. emoticon

Heather, I read that email in your blog. Yes, it does sound like whining. Plus the first thing to notice are the grammatical errors (my pet peeve - you're a professional, write like one!)

This is why I am so NOT corporate. These owner/operators who expect the employees to care about the business as much as they do, but as long as they don't have an ownership stake, why should they? They have lives. If the work hours are 9 to 5, then they should leave at 5. If they are expected to stay late, they need to be given notice. I don't know why that's considered a "negative culture shift." And as far as the clinics, if the employees are leaving after the office is closed and their closing duties are done, why should they stay late? And then he turns around and says "we don't want to be clock-watchers, as long as everything gets done and the goals are met..." He needs to make up his mind.
And that line about disconnnecting when not physically at work???? Like it or not, that's how your workers retain their sanity and stay fresh from day to day. OMG, don't get me started on bosses who expect people to be on call 24/7.

I still say go into business for yourself. My last corporate job was a bunch of people talking out of both sides of their mouth. I hated it. Couldn't wait to get out. I will never go back.

Anyway....
I have been out of the pool for three months now. I feel fat and out of shape. I had lunch yesterday with an attorney friend and we were discussing working out and accountability. She runs and does yoga and strength training. She said her accountability comes from signing up and prepaying for a class, and knowing that if she doesn't call to cancel, they'll charge her. So she can't just back out at the last minute with "I don't feel like it."

I also bought a compound bow, which is really fun, but it takes arm and shoulder and core strength that I just don't have now. So I think I'm going to give myself a Christmas gift of a year membership back to my regular pool and get back in the water already. I know the first couple swims will feel like I'm dying, but hopefully it won't take too long to get up to speed. And I'm also going to look seriously at their fitness classes. They have all kinds of fun stuff. I might start with a spin class. Anyone else into that?

I'm just barely getting in my good morning before the afternoon starts here!! Busy work morning, but I got a lot done and I feel good about that.

The interview yesterday was great!! It's a solid, profitable company with good staff and good systems. The controller has given notice, but she's staying through May so there's lots of time for transition. I can eventually work from home two days a week. The benefits are reasonably priced! If they offer a salary I can accept, then I will seriously consider the change. Did I mention there's occasional travel to Boca Raton Florida too? Sounds good in January!!

Reality hit this morning with so much work to do before the holiday!! So, I dug right in!!

I imagine everyone else is busy with work and family stuff this time of year. Even if you don't celebrate anything religious, it's still kind of a celebratory time of year! Plus, the new year is coming!!

Have a FUN and ACTIVE day!!!!
