Are you and others who feel the same able to influence? No? Would more employees involved help or does turnover (in disgust) limit that possibility? If so, is that an approach you could take? That it costs real money to keep interviewing, hiring and training a constant run of new employees. Follow the money, always.

Policies and procedures Jon, there's a lot of "but we've always done it this way" and "this customer wants this and that customer wants that" and it's not always well documented. The procedures are also outdated, handwriting and printing job outlines in very redundant fashion.

Hi gang!

It's a change of cultures, Heather. My last with, I went the opposite way from freewheeling (as a former co-worker recently said to me "We are still one bad decision from blowing up") to a very staid long established company. Not saying it's for you but I'm here to the end of my professional life. After 14 years of feast or famine (lots of famine from bad decisions) at my age I don't need the excitement anymore.

Hedging your bets, Carol? Leave them guessing! With a Masters a lot of doors open up.

Then they need to figure out how to turn down the flame, Jen. Good speeches without actionables are just platitudes. Are the issues with personnel or policies and procedures?

Almost crunch time for show shipping. Very busy.

Hi folks :)

Lol Carol, haven't said you're staying but haven't said you're leaving... I identify with that :-p during my quarterly review last week my boss said I'm a good fit and he hopes I make a career here. It was nice but I think they're a little afraid I'll get burnt out and split.

Another Monday, not too bad though. Readjusting to bring busy and trying to maintain a better perspective and thinking ahead to reduce stress. Just keep swimming....

Heather...you know that's what I did. But, I will say that after 30+ years of being in charge, not being in charge has its own challenges. Though getting to take a week off to go to classes that are a hundred percent paid by the company was pretty awesome.

I'm having more and more people around me wishing I'll stay. Not that I'm saying I'm leaving, I'm just not saying I'm staying. I have five more classes to get through for my master's and then, of course, the dissertation. If I can speed that up, I could spend more time with some of this software and become a real expert.

Tampa was awesome and now I'm happy to get back to this work. Beach walk is a definite need at lunch time!

Good Morning!!! I hope everyone had a fantastic weekend! Mine wasn't too bad, but we didn't do too well at the craft fair. The attendance was very light, and our pieces are pretty specific, so we need a big crowd to be able to attract enough folks interested in sculptural lamps and candle holders. :) The whole point right now is to learn the business, so every experience is valuable, even if not a money maker.

I'm just up and down about this job. The guy I work for is the opposite of the last guy. So before I was working for the CFO who was very CFOish. Now, I am the top financial person working for an entrepreneurial President who is a bit emotional and not always the best leader, in a company with bad systems and processes that is growing exponentially. Ugh. I just want to sell everything I own, move into an apartment, and get a much less stressful job. Not yet though......

So, digging into a new work week. At least I have a relatively easy weekend coming up!

Have a FUN and ACTIVE day!!!
