5 days? That's a big success in any book here Sam and welcome.

A new suit is great Amanda. Carol- I have a half dozen going back more than 20 years ranging from clamming to upscale pool party (used once actually and years ago). Suits are like jeans, one for every occasion.

Jen - I'll go check out your facebook posts, I'd love to see your projects!

Sam - Woo hoo on getting in 5 swims this past week, that is awesome!

Amanda - There's nothing like a new, great swimsuit! When I find a good one I usually buy 4 more - lol...I just hate it when one wears out and they don't have good replacements at the time.

Got myself a new swimsuit for my lap swimming. Thank you, Amazon! Plenty on my to-do list this week, but I intend to get 2 swim sessions done. It CAN happen!!

Have a great week, everyone!

I swam MT ThFr Sun this week - 5 days, that's my big success of the week!

I'm already getting faster and stronger, but those "bad swims" where I just feel heavy and slow the entire time are aggravating. I also feel like after a few weeks of consistent swimming that the Olympics team should be calling me any day now...haha!

Hi folks :)

Jon, a swim is fantastic! and managing the clutch! Like Carol I'm impressed but not surprised hehe

Laurie, I really need to make a website.... you can find my art page on facebook though, /TheArtofHintz I try to post pictures of projects as they're completed there. The pinstriping business is under a little less pressure to be a business right now on account of the new better job. Which means that I'm trying to focus on practicing and making art rather than trying to make money. The new job has the advantage of a liveable salary that doesn't require I hustle for secondary funds.

On the job front, it's pretty decent, I'm doing customer service for a commercial printer - business to business customer support is much preferable to the public that I worked with in internet retail. And I can and have to get up from my desk and run around the shop asking questions and applying changes to projects in process. The settling in phase is something I get impatient with though - accounts are still being migrated over to me so some days I have damn near *nothing* to do, and days when a coworker is out I'm the designated cover-girl and I feel like a chicken with it's head cut off. That ebb and flow is a little too jarring but it is balancing out as time goes on.

Laurie, I'll look at some software to see what it will do. It seems like you'll want something that integrates with One Note and Outlook. At first pass, One Note won't seem that powerful but once you get up to speed it's pretty amazing. You calendar a meeting and then you can attach your notes to it and the client. You can dump .pdf files in it and OCR them into Word docs. If I can find something that ties directly, like Microsoft Navision for smaller companies with a time and billing they'd all talk. I'll try to carve out some time tomorrow to check around.

Well, Tom's not that hot on it unless the kids don't have kids haha. He wants to be close to his grandbabies...you know, the ones we don't have. Monterey or maybe the new place we're buying ...or we have the house in Grover Beach that is almost paid off. In other words, I'm not retiring any time soon so I can dream haha

Jon, I am impressed (but not surprised) at your recovery speed, just keep it up!

We just tiled the entry way and we're going to set the first bedroom up with a real bed! I still need to order blinds but everything else is done in there. I'll drive back north this afternoon which will be the first time back up there for nine days! Then next Friday we leave for Alaska!

emoticon There's a couple of boots for you Laurie! I believe it was Amanda that wrote "Some swim is better than no swim". I'm not surprised archery engages from the hips up. go have some fun!

Edit: Well, she's in San Diego also so immigration law where the work is.

First outdoor bike ride today. I have a very large frame Fuji where I'm normally only on flat toes at a stop with the seat positioned for correct leg extension. I had to lower the seat to the frame in order to roll it under me so the knee was higher than recommended at the pedal top. Worked though! Another swim this PM definitely in the cards. I took the stick shift out for a drive after backing it out of the garage last weekend for some cleaning and I was OK with the clutch. Better than OK today. I had pretty much put it in storage for the year before surgery as getting in and out was seen as a problem (pretty low and some twisting) but that doesn't seem to be a problem. It seems I can do everything so it comes down to simply getting stronger at things.

Edit:
LOL, Carol: "He wants to be close to his grandbabies...you know, the ones we don't have". Hear that! We'll move close to wherever the first one is and if eventually we have one on each coast we'll move to the heartland for equal access.
Jen: "business to business customer support is much preferable" Wow- you nailed that!

Got the swim and a great day on the beach in. Apparently the community dinner dance was last night and the beach was empty. We attended once and said never again.

Okay, I’ll start today….. I have a novel to write just to catch up to you folks!

Heather, it’s been great reading about how happy you are with the new job and that you’re still able to do daily exercises!

Jon, good to see the progress you’re making after your hip replacement. You’ll be back to 100% in no time at all. Congrats on getting back in the water! An immigration attorney? **shudder** Ranks right up there with Medicaid and disability law. No thanks.

Kourtney, got your facebook message and responded. My scale is still being sh*tty too. But I’m not paying the best of attention either, so whose fault is that? And I swear this menopause garbage is no better than ovulating for weight gain. But I’m trying…

Jen, are your paintings online somewhere? How goes the pinstriping business? I know you got a new job in the last couple months, but I can’t remember the details. Where are you working now?

Carol, you’re so lucky to live where you live. We have had the worst summer for heat and humidity. It makes getting outside really difficult. You want to retire in Monterey? What happened to Puerto Rico? Software implementation. I need to do that too. I need an entire overhaul of my entire business network, new equipment, new cloud storage, new software, the whole nine yards. I really need new practice management software for time records and billing, client notes, integrated emails and calendaring, etc. The software I have does a lot of that but it’s old and cumbersome and not very intuitive. Any ideas on how to shop for that? I’ve been asking around my attorney friends, but nobody seems to have any great answers.

Who said, “Some swim is better than no swim?” Hah! I need to remember that when I tell myself I don’t have two hours to go to the pool. I should still go even if I have less than an hour. I haven’t been to the pool in at least a month. Part of it is being tired and busy, but frankly, the bigger reason is some depression settling in after a long rough 6 months. I am seeing a new therapist, which has been helpful. She’s awesome. Tells me like it is instead of letting me moan and complain and then say “time’s up! See you next week!” That’s what the last therapist did.

And now I have a better reason to get back to the pool. I went to the archery range with my son a couple of days ago and got a lesson on a compound bow. It was SO. MUCH. FUN! The owner of the range sells all the equipment you would ever need to target shoot or hunt (I will NEVER hunt) and my son bought a bow that evening. He wants to join a target league starting in January, so he’ll have a couple of months to practice and get used to it. I can see myself buying a bow also, but not yet. I want a couple more coaching sessions first to make sure I want commit. So back to the pool… I didn’t realize how much of your body you engage in bow shooting. Not only arms and shoulders, but neck, abdominals, and lower back as well. All that stuff that swimming is great for, if I hadn’t been blowing it off the last couple months.

So somebody come kick my butt…. I need to renew my pass and I hope to be able to get there tonight for a “first” swim.
